Trashman’s Garbage Grab Bag: Week 2

Trashman’s Garbage Grab Bag: Week 2

It’s only Week 2, and we’re already scouring the waiver wire for dumpster diamonds. Fear not, we have a bevy of 35% or fewer owned semi studs for your consideration…

Wide Receiver

Mecole Hardman, Chiefs: Hardman was drafted to replace Tyreek Hill when he was due a suspension, and now he’s taking Hill’s place due to injury. Hardman was the fastest receiver at the Combine and stands to benefit greatly while Hill is out.

James Washington, Steelers: Washington was Pittsburgh’s second best receiver last Sunday night and could give Donte Moncrief a real run for his money as the no.2 for the Steelers. He’ll get a soft Seahawks secondary this week.

A.J. Brown, Titans: It only took one game for Brown to step into the role of Titans no.1 WR, and while that may seem like hyperbole, I do think Brown will end up battling Delanie Walker for the receiving leader in Nashville. Corey Davis is wildly inconsistent, and though we’ve only seen one game from Brown, his 4 catch, 100 yard effort is enough to get him on your roster.

Ted Ginn Jr., Saints: I told Alex Ginn was the no.2 WR in New Orleans, but he wouldn’t have any of it. It now seems apparent to all that Ginn is the next option after Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas in the passing game. He’s old, but he’s still faster than most, and the Saints are going to have to air it out against the Rams this week in a revenge game.

Running Back

Mike Davis, Bears: Davis isn’t much to look at, but he’s arguably the lead back in Chicago right now. For some reason the Bears don’t want to give it up to David Montgomery yet, so Davis is just as viable in fantasy right now.

Rex Burkhead, Patriots: The Pats don’t have a great track record in Miami, but the Dolphins are horrendous this season, and the Pats just keep getting better. If this week is anything like last Sunday night against Pittsburgh, Burkhead will get a lot of run as the cleanup back. And Brandon Bolden is out, so that’s just one less mouth to feed.

Darren Sproles, Eagles: Pass catching backs do damage against the Falcons, and Sproles is still effectively that for the Eagles. Coming off a double-digit touch game last week, Sproles is primed for similar action against Atlanta.

Tight End

Vernon Davis, Redskins: Davis went off in week one with 59 yards a TD in Jordan Reed’s stead. He’s in line for a similar day against the Cowboys this week.

Tyler Eifert, Bengals: EIfert was third in targets behind John Ross and Tyler Boyd last week with 6. A.J. Green is still out and if Mixon’s not, he may be limited, so Eifert should get some looks in the red-zone. The 49ers were 2nd worst in the league last year at defending passes in the red-zone.

Querterback

Matt Stafford, Lions: Stafford gets no respect. He throws for 385 yards and 3 TDs and he’s still owned in less than 35% of leagues. Stafford has the best offense he’s had in years, and they’re going to have to put it in the air to match the Chargers air attack this week.

So I have hung on to Latavius Murray. Are we thinking he’s going to get more volume as the bell cow back? I know Kamara can run between the tackles well but it seems like his stock somewhat goes down without Bree’s. Your thoughts?

Nasty trashman. Great pickups for me on the wavier wire. Diabolical!! 144-148 WIN
