Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 9

Your team is probably depleted and defeated after the massacre we call week 8, but there are some dumpster diamonds in the rough that you can still fill in the gaps with this week. Here’s your week 9 Grab:

Kendall Gaskins RB, 49ers: Yes, the 49ers picked up Pierre Thomas and Shaun Draughn recently, but it’s Gaskins who’s been with the team and is expected to get first crack at Atlanta. He’s at the top of a heap of running back trash in San Fran.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE, Buccaneers: ASJ practiced this week, and should he play he’ll be the no.2 option for Tampa behind Mike Evans. Use him while he’s a necessity.

Karlos Williams RB, Bills: injury woes and bye weeks have left Williams on a lot of waiver wires, but he needs to be owned. With Harvin on I.R. and Watkins iffy, the Bills will run the ball a ton, and Williams will get enough carries to do some damage.

Robert Woods WR, Bills: Like Williams, Woods is again set to benefit from a lack of other options at the WR position. He could be Buffalo’s leading receiver this week.

Jacob Tamme TE, Falcons: He’s underwhelming as an athlete, but Matt Ryan has taken a shine to Tamme as a sort of safety blanket in recent weeks. He’ll get what Julio Jones doesn’t take.

Charles Sims RB, Buccaneers: Sims will be implemented even more as a receiver without Jackson around against a Giants team that is going to bring pressure and going to score points/

Justin Hunter WR, Titans: Mariota is back, and Kendall Wright is out. Delanie Walker is going to get much work, but Hunter should be more involved this week than any other receiver. Yes, DGB is a monster in the making, but he still doesn’t do enough in run blocking to stay on the field that much.

Marquess Wilson WR, Bears: Wilson is going to play opposite Alshon Jeffery this week, and the will be no Eddie Royal to go to when Jeffery is covered. That leaves Martellus Bennett and Wilson, and Wilson has been getting open more than the Black Unicorn recently.
Dwayne Harris WR, Giants: Harris isn’t one to write home about, but he is coming off of a 2 TD game, and he has been getting 6 to 7 targets over the last several contests.

  1. Apologize for the re-post but need some advice in my big money PPR league!

    10 Team PPR; Record 7-1!

    [1] QB: Rivers (T. Taylor)
[3] WR: Julio Jones, Diggs, Dez Bryant (Hopkins*)
[2] RB: Ingram, D. Martin (Abdullah, Vereen, Matt Jones)
    [1] TE: J. Reed
    [1] FLEX: Andrews
    Bench total : (5)

Available guys: Ginn Jr., Michael Floyd, R. Randle, Rashad Jennings, Karlos Williams, Morris, Ellington, Bradshaw, Riddick, J. Bell, T. Coleman, and Gillmore to name a few…

    1. Real good chance of making playoffs so should I make any add/drops now heading into this weekend?

    2. Would you guys make any changes to this week’s starting lineup? Been going back and forth between Vereen and Andrews at the FLEX? Trashman has Andrews higher, but the site PPR rankings have them back to back!

    1. i’d try to find a way to get floyd, and i’d drop vereen for williams or bell. I’d keep andrews in. we know he’s going to be the bellcow for now. no idea what vereen’s usage will be.

      1. Appreciate it Trashman!

I just noticed Kendall Wright is a FA too so would you rather own him or Floyd? I could drop Vereen for either of them.

I’m leaning towards dropping Abdullah or Matt Jones for Karlos Williams or J. Bell? Or should I just make both moves?

        1. at this point Wright. I’d get williams at least.

  2. Remind me not to play in four season long leagues next year! Thanks to Rosterwatch I’m pretty much in 1st or 2nd in them all!

12 Team Standard (Record: 5-3; fourway tie for 2nd place but 1st in points)

    [1] QB: Tyrod Taylor
    [2] WR: A. Brown, Hurns (Hopkins^)
[2] RB:D. Martin, Gore (Forte*, Duke Johnson, Ryan Mathews)
    [1] TE: Olsen
    [1] FLEX: Watkins

1a) Okay so my plan is to start Watkins vs. MIA at the FLEX tomorrow. However, IF Watkins is a last minute scratch I’ll have no choice but to bench him and instead start Ryan Mathews Sunday night @DAL… OR I could drop Mathews last minute for Ginn vs. GB or even Robert Woods? All I know is that I need to win this week against another 5-3 team!

1b) SO assuming Watkins DOES play, am I better off holding Ryan Mathews or dropping him for Chalres Sims since I’m a Doug Martin owner? Basically I can’t decide who is a better handcuff moving forward.

    2) After hearing the news of Mariota starting I dropped the Saints DEF so now I’m torn between the Cowboys vs. PHI or the Giants @TB?!

    1. mathews can be dropped for sims, as there’s no telling what his usage will be week to week and you’re not a murray owner. I’d start Giants def.

  3. I am sad at receiver…..need 2 in ppr. Jordan matthews, Brandon lafell, davante adams, and willie snead. Just looking for best upside….thanks again
