Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 9

Time to trim the fat. Here’s the grab for Week 9…

 

Quarterback

Baker Mayfield, Browns: Mayfield has been pretty consistent over his time as a starter, averaging over 18 points a game in fantasy over his 5 starts. He’ll continue to thrive at home against a weak Chiefs offense.

 

Running Back

Elijah McGuire, Jets: Bilal Powell is gone for the year, maybe his career, and McGuire is stepping in on his first game since coming off of injury this season. Trenton Cannon did little last week after booming in Week 7, so McGuire should get plenty of opportunity to resume his role as pass-catching back on a team that sorely needs pass-catchers.

 

Devontae Booker, Broncos: Booker put up 100+ all-purpose yards last week as the lesser half of a 1, 2 punch with Phillip Lindsay. He’ll get the same opportunity against a middle of the road Texans squad in Week 9

 

Wide Receiver

Tre’Quan Smith, Saints: The Saints face the Rams in a +60 point game, and Smith figures to be a major part of the New Orleans passing attack. He only had 18 yards last week, but Drew Brees only threw for 120 yards on the day. He has a much better outlook this week.

 

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers: MVS has been on a minor tear filling in for an injured Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison in various turns. Allison is out this week, so MVS should get plenty of run against a Patriots team that is going to do their best to stop Davante Adams.

 

Anthony Miller, Bears: Miller out-targeted Taylor Gabriel in Allen Robinson’s absence last week, and Robinson is questionable again going into Week 9. Even if Robinson goes, he’s likely to face Tre’Davious White, so Miller should remain a focal point.

 

Tight End

Chris Herndon, Jets: Herndon has caught a TD in each of his last 3 games, and that’s pretty impressive for any TE going right now. With both Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa both questionable to unlikely to suit up, he makes for another reasonable streaming option in Week 9.

    Have Melvin Gordon starting. My only other RB is Sony Michel. Should I drop Tre’Quan Smith to add Mike Davis, or am I safe that Gordon starts?

    Need advice on my RB2 for standard scoring as I must win this week (record 3-5). My RBs are Fournette, KJohnson, ACollins, JRichard & CThompson. I’m playing Johnson and concerned about Collins this week. I can drop Thompson and pickup & play one of the following:
    Gore/ISmith/EMcGuire-all with early games
    or wait for status reports on RFreeman and CCarson to decide on Booker or MDavis with afternoon games. If I risk the waiting game and both Freeman and Carson play, my last option is to get JWilliams for tonight’s game.

    Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

    Trying to figure out if I should try and start Michel. I have Chubb/Barber starting now with Sutton as my flex. I could put Michel in the flex and pick up MVS to late switch in my flex? Or do think Michel goes and I could start him as one of the two RBs?

      Bears game feels like a script that really favors Howard.

      Howard > Brown > Parker, imo.

    Was offered Gurley + a WR, he wants Evans +Kupp. 10 team half point ppr.

    My team:
    RB – Hunt, Lindsay, Yeldon, Kerryon
    WR – AB, Evans, Kupp, ARob, Watkins, Fitz

    His team:
    RB – Gurley, Barkley, A Jones, McCoy, Mack, D Martin
    WR – Funchess, John Brown, Godwin, TreQuan Smith

    In other words, his WR core sucks. My gut tells me to stand pat, what do you think. There’s a possibility that I could keep Gurley, if I make the trade, for a 2nd round next season….but I’m more worried about this season right now, lol.
