Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 2

It’s only WK2, so I don’t expect you’ll need it, but I’ve skimmed the dumpster to find these lightly owned options… just in case. Here’s the grab for WK2….

Running Back

DJ Giddens, Colts – 7% rostered
Jonathan Taylor is the workhorse, but the rookie Giddens is already carving out a role. Garnering 12 touches in WK1, Giddens is a nice stash, should JT go down. 

Kenneth Gainwell, Steelers – 7% rostered
Pittsburgh mixed him in plenty in WK1, especially on passing downs. He’s got the trust of the coaching staff, and in PPR he can be a sneaky plug-and-play if your RB room is thin.

Wide Receiver

Kayshon Boutte, Patriots – 27% rostered
Led the Patriots in targets WK1, and his offense is starving for playmakers. He’s still raw, but if Maye keeps looking his way, Boutte could be a flex starter in PPR formats sooner than later.

Marvin Mims Jr., Broncos – 33% rostered
The lid-lifter in Denver’s passing game, Mims is a big-play threat and tied to rookie QB Bo Nix’s development. Even if the volume is inconsistent, Mims can flip matchups with one big play.

Calvin Austin III, Steelers – 27% rostered
As the de facto no.2 in Pittsburgh, Austin works out of the slot, gets quick-hitting routes, and should rack up catches even if the Steelers’ offense sputters.

Tight End

Jake Tonges, 49ers – 3% rostered
 George Kittle is sidelined for a few weeks, and Tonges already delivered a game-winning TD. If you’re scrambling at TE, he’s a viable short-term streamer, as a safety-blanket for a beleaguered Mac Jones. 

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers, Steelers – 28% rostered
Rodgers looked like his old self, if you squint, in WK1, throwing for 4 TDs against the Jets. Seattle has a solid defense, but Rodgers will keep the Steelers offense afloat. 

Daniel Jones, Colts – 16% rostered
Yes, that Daniel Jones. He’s in a new situation and still brings rushing upside, I guess. If you’re desperate at QB or playing 2-QB/Superflex, Jones is the definition of a “garbage grab” with sneaky legs.

    Johnson or Pitts .5 PPR

    Rankings suggest Pitts, but seems like Mooney is gonna play to take target share away from Pitts.

    Question:
    Should I add Theo Johnson or anyone else? In order to add, I need to drop 2 first to get roster legal, then drop another for each add. So who are the 2 cuts and then what add/drops… if any?

      Drop McLaughlin and Elijah Moore.

      Etienne + DJM are the biggest standouts that you could consolidate to a team in need of startable depth and move UP for a Star

      Top Add = Michael Mayer before Monday Night if you can.. otherwise, Theo.

        1. Who else should I drop for Mayer/Theo? You said drop McLaughlin + Elijah Moore, but I’d still need to drop a 3rd player to actually add Mayer or Theo.

        2. What type of “Star” player should I target when packaging Etienne + DJM? Like what tier/position should I be aiming for with that combo?
