The NFL Draft is a week away but best ball draft season is already underway.

Best ball is great this time of the year because we can experiment different draft strategies and see what ADPs are like for rookies before we know their landing spots.

• I went with 2 WRs to start the draft to test out how that draft would look and used the RosterWatch best ball cheat sheet to guide me and my team is SICK. I think one of the biggest steals right now is Leonard Fournette who I definitely ‘reached’ with in the 4th round since his current ADP on Underdog is 70 but he will be an end of the 2nd rd RB I guarantee before the season starts.

 

• After building with Deebo Samuel and Justin Jefferson I took a shot on some old faces in new places like JuJu Smith-Schuster and then some rookie WRs who could be studs.

 

• With the news that Deebo Samuel has apparently requested a trade from the 49ers, it makes me question my pick of him in the 2nd round. We don’t know if he will be used as a “wideback” wherever he lands and could see a downgrade at the QB level. I think his potential landing spots are the NY Jets, New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers.

 

• It’s definitely risky drafting a rookie before knowing their landing spot but a guy like Chris Olave has the talent to be a stud anywhere he lands and we’ve seen rookies be league winners the past couple of seasons like Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. The last receiver I drafted was Jalen Tolbert the rookie WR from South Carolina who could be a golden son of RosterWatch nation so someone to definitely keep an eye on.

 

• TE is weak on my roster but hopefully I make up those points at different positions. I tried capturing lightning in a bottle with Malik Willis as my 3rd QB in the event he is an absolute stud this year. I always take 3 QBs in best ball to assure myself in the event of Injuries or same bye weeks.
