RWi Week 12 Fantasy WR Pickups

Week 12 Fantasy WR Pickups
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com

I punished myself by making this list very long and very thorough. Waivers have processed and there are a ton of sneaky plays out there. Pull up your league’s free agent wire and search for these guys one by one. I put the players in the approximate order in which they should be picked up. Feel free to use your own discretion when making the close decisions.

Wide Receivers:

Danario Alexander (vs BAL), WR San Diego Chargers
Another 96 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 11. Somehow he still only 30% owned. Alexander looks awesome.

Cecil Shorts (vs TEN), WR Jacksonville Jaguars

Somehow he is still 50% owned. Shorts has been amazing for 5 weeks in a row, and I have to keep putting him in this article for some reason. Pick him up now.

Justin Blackmon (vs TEN), WR Jacksonville Jaguars
Blackmon finally had an absolute monster in Week 11. 13 targets, 236 yards and 1 touchdown. He has chemistry with Chad Henne. Blaine Gabbert and Laurent Robinson have been put on IR. Blackmon gets a huge bump.

Ryan Broyles (vs HOU), WR Detroit Lions
Titus Young is out this week. Broyles is good. His activity level in the offense has picked up. I expect him to get a lot of action in Week 12 with Houston paying a lot of attention to Megatron.

Josh Gordon (vs PIT), WR Cleveland Browns
He led the team in Week 11 snaps at 96%. Production was a modest 53 yards but useful. Gordon is clearly the #1 receiver in Cleveland and Brandon Weeden loves to chuck it around.

Golden Tate (@MIA), WR Seattle Seahawks
Tate is less than 30% owned. He’s had back to back 17 point fantasy games and is becoming the playmaker the ‘Hawks envisioned. Tate is heavily touchdown dependent so do understand that if he doesn’t score it could be a lackluster fantasy performance.

T.Y. Hilton (vs BUF), WR Indianapolis Colts
Donnie Avery is questionable and Hilton has had some monster games recently. I like the matchup too. If Avery is out, Hilton is a great waiver play. If Avery is in, Hilton is still a solid play.

Julian Edelman (@ NYJ), WR New England Patriots
16 points in Week 11. Edelman is likely to see in increase in opportunities with Rob Gronkowski sidelined. Always remember that other than Tom Brady, nothing is certain in New England.

Brandon Stokley (@KC), WR Denver Broncos

Averaging about 7 ppg on the season, Stokley has strung together two 11 point performances. I think the McGahee injury increases the onus on Peyton Manning and Stokley is his safety net. A very safe waiver play.

Davone Bess (vs SEA), WR Miami Dolphins

11 targets for 11 fantasy points on 95% of offensive snaps in Week 11. Bess has been fairly serviceable this year if you need to squeak by with a safe couple of points.

Emmanuel Sanders (@ CLE), WR Pittsburgh Steelers

It looks like Antonio Brown could miss another game. Even with a messy QB situation Sander managed 82 yards on 8 targets. He also led the team in snaps with 89%. I think Charlie Batch is actually an upgrade at QB in the very short-term.

Chris Givens (@ ARI), WR St. Louis Rams
We thought Danny Amendola’s return would have the most on impact on Brandon Gibson. On the surface that notion looks false after a two touchdown game by Gibson. Low and behold Chris Givens still received 7 targets in Week 11. The second most on the team. It is concerning that he only played 53% of snaps. I like his big play potential if you need a bit of an explosive element to your team. The Cardinals are middle of the road against fantasy recievers.

Riley Cooper (vs CAR), WR Philadelphia Eagles
Ok. Things are starting to get trashy now. I like this one. You are guaranteed to be able to pick up Cooper because he is literally not owned by anyone. 0% owned. I think it’s a second team doctrine with Nick Foles. Last week Cooper had a sneaky 8 targets and played 69% of the offensive snaps. His last two outputs have been 8 points and 6 points.

Brandon LaFell (@ PHI), WR Carolina Panthers
A very inconsistent option. He did have 15 fantasy points in Week 11 and the Eagles are a nice fantasy wide receiver matchup.

Donald Jones (@ IND), WR Buffalo Bills
A desperation play. Jones is hit or miss. He missed big time last week but still played an incredible 97% of offensive snaps. I like the matchup if I am in a huge bind.

Titans WRs (@JAC)

Kendall Wright has a connection with Jake Locker and Nate Washington has been a good waiver play all year. Houston threw for over 500 yards against the Jags last week. There could be some nice opportunities or the Titans receivers in this game.

Santana Moss (@ DAL), WR Washington Redskins
Another hit or miss guy. RG3 seems to find him for big plays and Moss has traditionally feasted on the Cowboys. Appropriate for a Thanksgiving Day game. High risk, high reward. Moss had 1 target for 1 reception for 61 yards and score in Week 11.

Mohamed Sanu (vs OAK), WR Cincinnati Bengals
He only had 4 targets in Week 11 but he scored a touchdown and got 2 carries out of the backfield. It’s like we said last week, the Bengals are using Sanu like a football player and finding creative ways to get him involved. The matchup doesn’t get much better than Oakland.

Greg Little (vs PIT), WR Cleveland Browns
I hate to recommend him but he seems to be getting more involved. The Browns like to throw it and Little has had back to back 5 point games, while seeing a lot of playing time. He was in on 90% of snaps last week.
