Week 12 Garbage Grab

Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 12

We’ve got fewer games going into Sunday, but there are still a bevy of waiver wire options to plug and play for this week and beyond. Here’s the Grab…

Running Back

Tevin Coleman, Jets

A lot of owners picked up Ty Johnson whenever Michael Carter was sent to IR, but Coleman could be the bigger beneficiary of Carter’s absence. He did, after all, get 5 carries to Johnson’s 1 when Carter left the game in the 4th quarter. Coleman is worth a speculative add and spot start in deeper leagues against a woeful Texans defense.

Dontrell Hilliard, Titans

Hilliard will be the passing down back and compliment to D’Onta Foreman for the near future, in a Titans offense that’s predicated on the run. He won’t have easy sledding against the Pats this week, but with few playmakers in the ranks, he should get plenty of touches.

Wide Receiver

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers

MVS went nuts last week against Minnesota, catching 4 of 10 targets for 123 yards and a score. That target share alone makes him worth owning and potentially starting against a Rams team that is middling against the pass in a matchup that will be high-scoring by most accounts.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Titans

You could really take a stab at any starting Titans player this week, As AJ Brown, Julio Jones and Marcus Brown are absent, but NWI provides the best combo of decent floor and potential upside.

Kendrick Bourne, Patriots

Bourne seems to be the most consistent target behind Jakobi Meyer, though Nelson Agholor is a close 3rd. Against the league’s worst secondary in the Titans, either player is a valid deep league flex.

Tight End

Austin Hooper, Browns

Coming off a 7 target Week 11, Hooper is up against a Ravens squad that makes for a top-5 matchup for TEs. Baker Mayfield stinks throwing downfield, and even he’s realizing that enough to utilize his TEs to a greater degree.

Quarterback

Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers

As much as we may want Trey Lance under center for the 49ers, Jimmy G seems to stave him off week to week with more than capable QB play. He’s averaged over 22 fantasy points over the last 4 weeks, and he’ll face a Vikings team this week that is the 7th best matchup for QBs right now.

(PPR League) Need 1 QB & 1 WR:
    * QB: R. Wilson or Burrow?
    * WR: Higgins, Juedy, Bateman or Landry?

  2. Good morning — couple of questions for week 12 — Herbert or Hurts — “experts” like Hurts – do you agree?

Which Devonta would you start — Smith or Freeman? Thanks

    1. Hi, I agree. Hurts is on fire. And smith

  3. What to do about Dillon and Jones if Aaron is active? Start both and bench Javonte Williams ? Hope Jones is inactive. ALso. Goedert or Freiermuth? thanks

    1. I’d probably go Goedert- love both those guys. The safe play would be playing both GB RBs

  4. If they feel good enough about Jones to play him I would too. I like williams over Dillon out of the bye. Goedert

    1. This is a fair assessment for sure – maybe play the matchup on that second RB decision if AJ goes

  5. Since they are both listed, Hilliard or Coleman in PPR today? I snagged both. Thanks!!

    1. Probably Hilliard —-yuck

If Aaron Jones is active (don’t have)… would you flex Dillon or Sutton? 0.5 ppr

    1. Two good options! Dillon -he was getting 14 touches per game before the AJ injury. Sutton very hard to trust lately on small target volume- but big snap count %. It’s a projection but I think he could bounce back off the bye – I think this matchup will have some points in it too. However, it is kind of ugly on the matchup tool. The gambler in me wants to say Sutton- but I think they logical play is Dillon so that’s who I will recommend. Hopefully AJ sits and you don’t have to make this decision!
