RWi Week 15 WR TD Dependency: Extended Analysis
Week 15 WR TD Dependency
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com
A quirky trend that developed this week is a huge drop in the average WR touchdown dependency over the last the 3 weeks. Yet, average production has stayed the same. Turns out this is a bi-product of several lower-tier players not scoring any touchdowns but replacing that production with yardage. Actually it’s a good sign for their prospects these last few weeks.
Here are the 3 week, 5 week, and Season numbers for wide receiver touchdown dependency. Like the running back tool, matchups have been included in all charts for ease of use. The lower the touchdown dependency ratio, the more likely that player is to continue with his recent production (average points.) A low ratio can also signify possible upside. Players with high ratios are a little riskier commodities on a week to week basis. If two players have the same average points, the guy with the better matchup and lower touchdown dependency ratio is the safer bet to continue producing at expected levels.
