Scouting Notes: Michigan’s leading receiver in 2016 with 826 yards and 7 TDs, Darboh has come a long way in his 5 years at Michigan. He was a hot recruit coming in for sure, but the game didn’t come naturally to Darboh, who, although possessing innate athletic ability, used practice and repetition to become the possession-machine he is today. Born in war-torn Sierra Leone, Darboh became a refugee at age 7 when he moved to Des Moines, Iowa. He didn’t even start playing football until his teens, when he started to gain attention for his raw ability. Darboh had to be coached up, though, which is a good thing, as he is still a teachable player who is intent on improving his skills. Darboh has great hands, Beckham Jr.-like on occasion …

But he isn’t the deep threat that ODB is – he’s pretty fast, though, and can get over the top at times. Darboh ran a lot of routes to the flats and slants at Michigan, where he could excel after the catch with his good vision and thick trunk that powered him through smaller DBs like a Rueben Randle at LSU. Darboh is fast, not as fast as teammate Jehu Chesson, but fast enough to get a leg up out of his breaks. Truth be told, Darboh probably won’t turn a lot of heads with his metrics, but the strength of his tape and the long line of coaches who laud his efforts will help his cause. We look forward to getting an eye on Darboh at the Senior Bowl.

Fantasy Outlook: It’s early, but Darboh reminds me of Anquan Boldin, a powerful runner with vice like grip who works the short and intermediate routes with adroitness. Darboh could easily be someone’s safety valve, as he was in Michigan, and he projects to be better in PPR formats than in standard leagues as a possession guy with a nose for the goal line.
