Have you felt the power of RosterWatch hyperDFS? Now that your season-long leagues have concluded, come give it a spin …
– Was used all over the formation at EWU, a player who the staff there predictably wanted to get the ball in the hands of as much as possible.
– Has a lack of terrific straight-line speed much like Tyler Boyd, but has the same suddenness to the catch-point, elite hands and out-of-this-world productivity. While Kupp physically looks like the spitting image of Adam Thielen as a college player, Boyd is likely a better overall comp for shared, functional football attributes.
– Runs every route in the tree, is fearless over the middle in crossing and drag routes, confident in sideline toe-tap situations and can even get over the top in certain looks. He killed many an FCS (and FBS if you watch the games versus WSU and Oregon) secondary up the seam.
– Lined up at both the slot and split-end positions through points in his career and, while not a totally polished route-runner, has a natural knack for find soft spots in zones and coverage schemes.
– Played his senior season with a painful AC-joint strain, which is impressive given his ability to extend to get the football (in what appeared to be an effortless and unlabored fashion). He looks so natural tracking and adjusting to the ball that it’s hard to imagine it being the painful process it likely was.
– The most prolific receiver in FCS history. Is the singular record-holder for most receiving yards, receptions and receiving TDs all-time – goals he likely returned for his senior season at EWU to chase.
– He was one of the older kids for his grade growing up; given the fact that he’s been in college five years (redshirted in 2012) he’ll come into his first NFL season on the ‘mature’ end of the spectrum at 24 which can be seen as a short-term positive but is clearly a long-term negative.
– Four-time FCS All-American and 2015 winner of a trio of Offensive Player of the Year awards, including the Walter Payton Award. Led the entire FCS in 2016 for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns
– Comes from great NFL bloodlines – per the Godfather Gil Brandt, both his father and his grandfather both played in the NFL.
– One of the players we’ll be most excited to monitor in Senior Bowl practices next month. With a good week of work versus the top DBs in the nation, Kupp could elevate his draft stock immensely given the body of work he produced collegiately.
POST SENIOR BOWL UPDATE: Kupp was ridiculous. It was one of the most dominating Senior Bowl performances during the week of practice that we have seen in covering the event over the last six years. He’s the first person we voted on to the 2017 All-Senior Bowl Team and as we get closer to dynasty draft season, we’ll begin honing strategies to make sure we get him on our squads. Kupp surpassed all expectations and is destined to be a dependable volume-hog and PPR monster as an NFL player.
