So Much for the “Unleashing” of Brandon Jacobs. Downgraded to Doubtful.

So Much for the “Unleashing” of Brandon Jacobs (For Now)?
Alex Dunlap, Rosterwatch.com

A day after letting reporters know that he was ready to be “unleashed” from team-mandated non-participation in practice, Giants RB Brandon Jacobs is looking more and more doubtful to play this Sunday.

His status has gone from “Questionable” to “Doubtful”. “Doubtful” means “He ain’t playin” where I come from. Reports out of New York early this afternoon are confirming that his “swollen knee” is indeed a sprained MCL and it doesn’t look like the Giants are going to take any chances. Ahmad Bradshaw gets a big bump with this news, and Giants scrub RB Danny Ware enters into the sphere of fantasy semi-relevance.

Many fantasy football owners may have Jacobs slated to play this week given Byes. If you had been mixing him in in your flex position, this is a week where you may have been counting on him as your RB2 if your #1 is a guy like Ray Rice or (god forbid) Peyton Hillis.  Furthermore, if you had been using players like Felix Jones or Daniel Thomas in your flex previously while rostering Jacobs- you find yourself in a similar fantasy football pickle.

Get to your waiver wire and see if any of our Week 5 Bye Buys are available to fill the slot.
