The Fantasy Fallout: Coming Into Week 11

What started out as a slow Sunday slate of games ended with a bang, as there were some off the charts fantasy days for several players. Hopefully you were on the right side of those monsters. Here are some thoughts on the day:

Ahmad Bradshaw’s reemergence as a feature back is nothing short of impressive, but the biggest surprise at the running back position has to be Justin Forsett. I thought that I had pulled off a major swindle when I sent him packing for DeAndre Hopkins after his first start, but the trick has been on me ever since. He’s sixth in fantasy points for backs on the year.

-Just when we thought Lorenzo Taliaferro had usurped Bernard Pierce for the number 2 back in Baltimore, Pierce out carried him 8 to 3 on Sunday. What this really means is that there is no Ravens back worth starting other than Forsett.

-I think Steve Smith Sr.’s age is finally catching up to him. He started hot but has fallen off the map in recent weeks. If you can’t still make trades, now might be the time.

Dwayne Bowe is starting to trend back to his reliable days of yore. He isn’t doing anything phenomenal, but over the past four games he’s outscored Keenan Allen, Vincent Jackson, Michael Floyd, and Terrance Williams.

-Boobie Dixon got the bulk of carries this week, but I think he’ll be the odd man out once Fred Jackson is up to speed. Bryce Brown will probably see more time as the third down and passing back.

-Don’t worry too much about Sammy Watkins’ production this week. It was obvious he was more decoy than featured player in an effort to keep him on the mend.

-It was Damien Williams not Daniel Thomas who led the Dolphins backfield on Sunday in Miller’s stead. But don’t look now, LaMichael James has been elevated from the practice squad with news that Miller may miss more time. The whole situation is one to avoid, as it would surely be a lackluster committee.

Jarvis Landry lead all Dolphins pass catchers in targets on Sunday with 10. He needs to be your lineups on a weekly basis.

Golden Tate continues to do major damage in the passing game, even with Calvin Johnson back in action. His upside is capped by Mega’s domination of endzone targets though.

-A healthy Toby Gerhart is posing little to no threat to Denard Robinson’s carries. Did you really think he would though?

Cecil Shorts looks healthy, but he probably won’t stay that way. Flex him while you can.

Terrance Williams has done nicely this season, but he’s not a player I feel safe relying on in the fantasy playoffs. If you haven’t hit the trade deadline yet, you might try offering him up for someone more dependable.

-The Saints are leaning on Mark Ingram hard. There’s no use in starting other backs on the team.

Martavis Bryant. Wow. He went bonkers on Sunday, but he’s still not getting on the field as much as we think he should. He’s been producing, so I won’t complain, but if not for that 80-yard TD in garbage time, he wouldn’t have lived up to his recent billing.

-This new look Jets team is playing well, but the decrease in pass attempts doesn’t bode well for guys like Eric Decker.

-Mike Vick is now a game manager. He’ll be efficient, but I wouldn’t expect him to be my QB savior. I’m talking to you, Carson Palmer owners.

-I said it two weeks ago, but let me reiterate, Falcons skill players have a fantastic schedule from here on out. This even includes Steven Jackson.

-So, the Bucs didn’t skip a beat from Mike Glennon to Josh McCown. They still lost of course, but at least we don’t have to write off Evans and Jackson yet.

Charles Sims actually led the Bucs backfield in carries with 8. He was largely unimpressive though, notching only 23 yds. Doug Martin should be back next week, so this is shaping up as a RBBBC until someone separates, which probably won’t happen soon.

-Even if Ronnie Hillman gets healthy for the next game, C.J. Anderson has earned a share of the Denver backfield. He should be owned.

Wes Welker can be dropped in all but the deepest of leagues.

-It’s no fluke, Mychal Rivera is Derek Carr’s safety blanket, and he should continue to eat up targets in Oakland. The same just can’t be said for any other Raiders receiver.

-It’s already started. Darren McFadden has the worst schedule for a running back to end out the season. If you need to make some roster space for a hot waiver wire pickup, don’t feel too bad in dropping him.

Drew Stanton might actually boost Michael Floyd’s value. He seems less averse to taking shots down-field than Palmer has been recently.

-Even against a formidable corner like Richard Sherman, Odell Beckham had a 100-plus-yard game. He’s a special talent and should lead the Giants in receiving for years to come, should stay healthy..

Russell Wilson’s running is the only thing salvaging his fantasy production right now. This is why I love Qbs that can run. Even when they have bad days in the air, they can still produce for you.

Jay Cutler continued his run of terrible games at Lambeau Field on Sunday night in an embarrassing blowout that was so bad it took in the worst Sunday Night Football ratings this season. I think Trestman is a little too soft for the NFL. Outside of Brandon Marshall, his players appeared to have quit on him last night.

-Even in garbage time, James Starks was not the go to back. That role belonged to DuJuan Harris. It doesn’t say as much for Harris as it does for Starks.

  1. I’m a Carson Palmer owner. My other QB is Kaepernick. In first place @ 7-3. 10 team PPR.
I need some advice on who to pickup off waivers for Palmer as a backup to Kaepernick.
    Here are the choices:
Tannehill,Sanchez, RG III, Bridgewater, Stanton, Vick
    or
Mallet (Hou)- he supposedly has a very strong arm, excellent targets and a favorable schedule down the stretch: Cle, Cin, Ten, Jac, Ind, Bal and Jac.

    Here are my WR’s:
Antonio Brown, Fitzgerald, Watkins and Lafell.
I have Starks (Handcuffed to Lacy-MY RB2) should I cut bait to strenghten my WR bench into the playoffs?
    Available WR’s:
Evans, Bowe, Gabriel, Matthews or Steve Johson.

I’m getting my team set for the playoffs. Only 8 teams so several options on Wire.

What do you think about me dropping Pierre Garcon for either Odell Beckham or Mike Evans?

Garcon has the easy schedule, but his usage has been awful.

My other WRs are KB, Jordy, Sammy W, Golden T and Sanu. I don’t think I should to let any of those guy go.

I start 3 with a Flex option in PPR format.
