Pros
– Rarely EVER tackled by the first defender, human pinball. Great power base through the lower half.
– 6th in the Power 4 with 57 Missed Tackles Forced, second in the 2026 Draft to only Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson (68).
– Earned second-team All-American by Associated Press/ON3.
– 16 of 54 Career Games with 18+ Rush Attempts (Sharing a backfield with Nick Singleton)
– First-team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media in 2025.
– 9 of 13 career games with 100+ rushing yards came against the Power 5 or in a Playoff Game.
Cons
– Plays with a high center of gravity and carries some tightness in lateral agility
– Lacks elite long-speed, but short-area acceleration is more than sufficient
– Just 2 Games with more than 3 receptions in his career. 54 Games played.
– Fine pass-catcher, but could benefit from a summer on the jugs machine to expand his horizons.
Highlight/Film
Cody’s Scouting Notes:
Kaytron Allen was a pinball of a rusher at Penn State, racking up nearly 5,000 yards from scrimmage and 43 touchdowns. Allen is the definition of a finisher on any given run, and that is one of the clear key reasons he was able to carve out such a large role sharing the backfield with Nick Singleton (2026 draft prospect). He’ll need to work on his pad-level in the NFL, because those Linebackers and Safeties won’t fold quite as easily. Despite lacking elite breakaway speed, his short-area acceleration will do the job just fine. It reminds me so much of Kareem Hunt coming out of Toledo.
During his four seasons at Penn State, Kaytron Allen did exactly what was needed from a guy sharing a backfield with a consensus five-star (Nick Singleton). His Yards after Contact per Attempt rose year over year from 3.03 to 3.77 in his senior season, good for 28th in the country. Allen finished just 17 yards shy of 1,000 yards from scrimmage in 2023. This would have given him not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR seasons with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
Alex’s Scouting Notes
- Big, physical back with massive power base through the lower half of body and through core
- Great contact balance and tough to get on the ground; not only by forcing missed tackles, but also by eluding attempts with high-steps and jukes
- Runs with a daunting forward lean and good pad level
- Excellent decisiveness and acceleration through the first level of the defense gets him consistently going with a head of steam
- Extremely productive back in the Big 10 starting in his freshman season at Penn State, and has been extremely reliable health-wise (13 games in first two years, 16 in third year and 12 in final year – opted out of Pinstripe bowl after rolling ankle in regular season finale)
- Scored at least one rushing TD in all games but one in 2025, real nose for the end zone
- Capable pass catcher
- Looks like a just-add-water “Thunder”-portion addition to a thunder and lightning-style NFL committee, but also brings a higher floor than most to possibly handle high-volume workloads given his stature and durability thus far
- Has great initial acceleration but obviously lacks high-end, home-run speed in the open field
- Comp: Beanie Wells, Knowshon Moreno
