Texas High School Football: Tyrell Thompson, DE Copperas Cove

Texas High School and College Football fans alike will want to keep an eye on Class of 2015 DE Tyrell Thompson, Copperas Cove, as he heads in to his senior year at RG3’s high school alma mater in Central Texas. We at RosterWatch get unsolicited tape all the time, and it’s rare that a set of skills like these jump off the screen at us. The kid looks like a man amongst boys, and can only be contained with customized blocking schemes – he’s way too much to handle for your normal high school offensive tackle.
Amazingly, Thompson has currently no Division I offers, only recently having received one from Texas State.
Thompson looks athletic enough to stand up as an edge rushing OLB who also has responsibilities in space. He’s also powerful and quick enough to dominate from the DE position with his hand on the ground. At 6’2″ 260 pounds, he has the build to do both. Expect him to continue growing and filling out. Regional scouts have told us Taylor is also the model of modesty, and a very humble young man.
