Fantasy Football: The 2nd Team All Rookie Squad

It’s true, we are walking the fine line between fantasy treasure and fantasy trash with this list, but I couldn’t resist this 2nd installment of The All Rookie Squad. There is just too much potential talent to ignore. Plus, we can all admit our love for scrounging through the fantasy football dumpster for that one gem of kryptonite that sickens our friends and competitors to near death.

QB: Andrew Luck- Colts
He will take his rookie lumps on a bad team but his talent and football IQ will buoy his fantasy production. There aren’t really any other options either, with RG3 on the 1st Team Squad.

RB: David Wilson- Giants
The Giants already have Ahmad Bradshaw but Brandon Jacobs is gone and Bradshaw is always hurt.The G-Men like to share the wealth in the backfield but they also consistently commit to the run game and are typically very adept in that area. Wilson is a natural born leader that Tom Coughlin will love. You may also get some special teams production out of him. Don’t forget DJ Ware still exists, so don’t be surprised when he gets a few unexpected touches.

RB: Terrance Ganaway- Jets
LT is gone and Shonn Greene is terrible. Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell are a bit small for the “ground and pound” style Rex Ryan likes to employ. Ganaway fits the bill perfectly at 6’1” 240lb. He’s bigger than Greene and showed off speed and hands at his Baylor Pro Day. A little bit of a one year wonder in college, but you have to like the 21 TDs he scored last year. 6.2 yd/carry wasn’t too shabby either for such a big power back.

WR: Justin Blackmon- Jaguars
I hate Blaine Gabbert and his potential involvement with any of my fantasy teams. Blackmon is a stud though and will get plenty of looks. At the least, he is better than the receivers on the waiver wire. At best, he could be a serviceable #2 fantasy WR.

WR: Mohamed Sanu -Bengals
I wasn’t the biggest fan of his throughout the offseason draft process. He definitely has that possession receiver vibe to his game though and I really like the fit. There are more than a few mouths to feed in Cincinnati now but I think he slides right in opposite AJ Green as a chain mover and redzone target.

WR: DeVier Posey- Texans
The departure of Jacoby Jones leaves the door wide open for Posey. He has the quickest, most efficient first step upfield after the catch of any incoming rookie WR. I believe he will quickly capture the #3 job and the Texans #3 WR spot has a history of fantasy relevance. Watch out for fellow rookie WR Keshawn Martin.

Flex: Danny Coale- Cowboys
There is plenty of production in the Dallas offense to go around. Laurent Robinson is gone and Coale will be a very nice complimentary piece to Austin, Bryant, and Witten. I hate to say Welker-like, so maybe think more of Eric Decker in Denver.

TE: Michael Egnew- Dolphins
He’s a big athletic pass catcher. I expect Tannehill to be in much sooner than later and I expect him to be looking for his TE a lot.

IDP: Mark Barron- Bucs
I almost went Dont’a Hightower here as a tackling machine but I figure he has to split production with another tackling machine, Jerod Mayo. Barron will be featured in the Bucs defense. I think there is potential for Polamalu or Sean Taylor type of production. A decent weekly floor due to tackles with upside for big defensive plays.
