Cut Bait or Just Wait? Who to Keep, Who to Drop in Week 7

Who’s droppable and who might be unstoppable? The list is a bit lopsided this week.

Cut Bait

Randall Cobb WR, Green Bay Packers: Cobb has been placed on Injured Reserve and cannot return until week fifteen. That would have him coming back well into fantasy playoffs in most leagues. Unless you’re 6-0, he shouldn’t still be on your roster.

Fred Davis TE, Washington Redskins: Davis has fallen behind behind Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen in the Washington tight end pecking order. He’s no longer worth a roster spot in any league.

Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs: Here a few receivers that have higher average yards per game than Bowe: Ted Ginn Jr., Jeremy Kerley, Santana Moss, and Austin Pettis. That should tell you something. He’s still absolutely droppable in 10 and 12 team leagues.

Tavon Austin WR, St. Louis Rams: The Rams have a found a way to win without Austin on the field (4 of 47 snaps on Sunday), and they seem content to let him develop very slowly. Languishing in an offense where Lance Kendricks is a more valuable fantasy asset, Austin can be let go outside of dynasty and keeper leagues.

Brandon Myers TE, New York Giants: There are too many mouths to feed in Gotham, and Eli Manning isn’t playing well enough to get the ball to all of them consistently. There are emerging ends like Tim Wright and Jeff Cumberland who are better bets for points on game day.

DeAndre Hopkins WR, Houston Texans: Honestly, Andre Johnson is the only pass catcher in Houston worth counting on with the tomfoolery that is passing as quarterback play for the Texans right now. Hopkins will rise again, but we have no idea where or when.

Coby Fleener TE, Indianapolis Colts: Fleener has promise, but he’s too erratic to be relied upon on a weekly basis. As I’ve already stated, there are several ends that are a bigger part of their teams’ game plans week in and week out.

Sidney Rice WR, Seattle Seahawks: The worst WR1 in football, Rice isn’t carrying his weight in Seattle. I’d rather have Golden Tate or Doug Baldwin, and did I mention that Percy Harvin has started practicing again? Rice says he’s just now getting healthy again, and had a great game in Week 7 – so see if you can ship him out high.

Eddie Royal WR, San Diego Chargers: He is what we thought he was going into the season, and that is waiver wire fodder.

Chris Givens WR, St. Louis Rams: This is personal. I’ve had Givens on one of my teams all season, and I’ve only been foolish enough to have him in my starting lineup twice. He’s still technically the big play guy for the Rams, but the Rams seem completely disinterested in big plays. If there’s a hot pickup to be had in your league, Givens is the guy to drop.

Just Wait

Miles Austin WR, Dallas Cowboys: Austin obviously isn’t healthy, and Terrance Williams is playing well enough that Miles can be an afterthought in the Cowboys scheme. I’d still wait to see how he performs when he’s healed up before doing anything drastic. He was a preseason snap and target monster.

Daryl Richardson RB, St. Louis Rams: Zac Stacy seems to be sticking as the lead back in St. Louis, but it’s too early to count anybody out. The fact tha Stacy still hasn’t practiced this week is enough cause to keep Richardson rostered at least another week.
