Deonte’s Inferno
Deonte Thompson Turns Heads with his Speed
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com
Undrafted Baltimore rookie receiver Deonte Thompson can burn. His impressive speed has been on display in OTAs, enough so to garner quite a bit of attention from the staff and the local press. Not surprisingly, Thompson’s speed is the main reason he was picked up in the first place. His 4.32 forty at Florida pro day helped the Ravens overlook what was a mediocre career there, which could have been largely do to sub-par quarterback play. If you squint, the six foot, 220 pound specimen resembles another Ravens receiver who had a stellar season last year in Torrey Smith. I’m not saying he’ll have that great a rookie season, Smith is an outlier, but if Thompson makes the roster the Ravens are shallow enough at receiver even with the addition of Miami’s Tommy Streeter for Thompson to make a difference. Keep an eye on him in keeper leagues.
