Dynasty Diagnosis: WR Jeff Fuller, Dynasty Draft target?

If you’re like me, it’s never too early to start planning for next fantasy season. Long gone are the days you can coast the entire off season without doing your research, and expect to draft a competitive team in the fall. This is especially true when it comes to dynasty leagues where a late round pick up can lead you to fantasy gold for years to come, a la Cam Newton. With the upcoming Senior Bowl looming, I think it’s a good idea to take a look at some of the talent participating and contemplate their potential fantasy prospects. In this installment, we’ll look at Aggies WR Jeff Fuller, a highly touted player who may or may not be worth a draft spot in your dynasty league.

Pros– At 6’3″ 225 lbs, with good elevation, Fuller is the type of athletic specimen that reminds us of a young Terrell Owens. Fortunately, as far as we can tell, he has little of the team poisoning attitude that plagued T.O.’s exciting but ill-fated career. Also, the All Big 12 receiver knows how to go get the ball, as he holds virtually every Aggies receiving record with 3,092 yards receiving to go with 233 catches and 34 touchdowns.

Cons– The latter part of Fuller’s college career was injury plagued, and that is always a red flag for fantasy. To his credit though, Fuller has shown toughness by playing through his injuries for the most part.  The senior also lacks concentration at times, evidenced by occasional drops. And though he has the build of a solid athlete, Fuller does not possess the speed and suddenness to breakaway from defenders on a regular basis.

Fantasy diagnosis– Fuller’s fantasy prospects are actually more positive than his real football outlook. He’s more of a possession receiver  than a deep target, but he’s an end-zone magnet and should stand to get many a look in that part of the field. Think Buffalo Bills WR David Nelson. If he gets drafted into a west coast style system like the one he was in at A&M, Fuller could have a positive impact early and often for your fantasy team.
