Dynasty Rankings Updates (5/22/23): Jordan Addison, Josh Downs, Samaje Perine

Dynasty Rankings Update: 5/21/23

Josh Downs
Age: 21
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: unranked
Updated Rank: 230
Downs is being lauded as the best WR in the draft by Colts WR coach Reggie Wayne, and he’s not the only one who thought so. Downs is electric, but his small stature and weight couldn’t cut through the noise at a draft that was full of undersized WRs. The Colts offense could be light on targets with rookie QB Anthony Richardson under center, but Downs has upside as a safety valve slot who can stretch the field. It’s a wide open competition behind Michael Pittman.

Samaje Perine
Age: 28
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: 229
Updated Rank: 216
Perine is ancient by RB standards, but he has a pathway to significant carries as Javonte Williams may miss the start of the season recuperating his knee. A dual threat, Perine is big bodied and sure-handed, a combination that bodes well for a Sean Payton led offense. Even when Williams makes it back, Perine is likely to stay involved, as Payton likes to integrate multiple RBs into his offense. In what will likely be a scheme that will limit the increasing chances of inaccuracy by a diminishing Russell Wilson, Perine deserves a bump, even at his age.

Jordan Addison
Age: 21
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: 42
Updated Rank: 33
No other rookie WR has as clear a path to major target share as Addison does as the no.2 WR in Minnesota behind Justin Jefferson. Addison would’ve been my no.1 WR coming into the draft if not for his puny weight, but that’s something he can change. A silky smooth runner who can get open at will, Addison will have little trouble making the most of what could be weekly double digit targets in an offense that could be devoid of a true lead back, if Dalvin Cook gets moved or released, as we think he will. He’s my top rookie WR in redrafts and he’s inching up the ladder in dynasty.

I’m in a keeper league (2 keepers rollover) where keeper penalty is previous year’s draft round -1 (drafted round 3 in 2022, I’d lose a round 2 if I kept that player for 2023).

I got Breece Hall in round 5 last year, so I’d lose my round 4 pick this year if I kept him. Pretty sure I’m not holding considering my other options:

    Fields (Round 12 penalty)
    Waddle (6)
    Ken Walker (14)
    Olave (10)

It’s a .5 PPR, currently leaning Fields and Waddle. QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex league.

If it’s meaningful, I’ll have the 10th pick in our snake draft (won league thanks to RW Nation). If Bijan is there (doubtful), I’m taking him.

      1. Man Waddle and Olave seem too good value-wise to pass up. I’m worried about Walker. I wouldn’t mind keeping Breece but I can understand you wanting to hold those higher picks. You can probably load up on mid-round RBs like Aaron Jones, Miles Sanders, JKD, etc. if you can land a stud RB early and your WRs will already basically be set.

  2. 10 Team Dynasty – Year 5
1QB Full PPR and 6pt Passing TDs

QB: Trey Lance, Baker Mayfield, Ryan Tannehill
RB: Breece Hall, Travis Etienne, Kenneth Gainwell, Zamir White, Jeffery Wilson, James Robinson, Keaontay Ingram, Ty Chandler, D’Ernest Johnson, Eno Benjamin
WR: A.J. Brown, D.J. Moore, Jahan Dotson, Elijah Moore, Darnell Mooney, Tyler Boyd, Nico Collins, D.J. Chark, Rashid Shaheed, Josh Palmer, Parris Campbell, Van Jefferson
TE: Juwan Johnson, Noah Fant, Hunter Henry

    Picks: 1.1, 1.7, 2.1, 4.1

    1) I need an honest assessment here after tanking the past 2 years and I want to finally make a competitive run but not sure if I’m quite ready?

2a) Need to drop 4 guys for my rookie picks so who gets cut?

2b) Could also try consolidating some depth in some 2 for 1 trades… ideas?

    3) Draft strategy question – I’m obviously taking Bijan at 1.1 but would you guys recommend taking AR at 1.7 or one of the top RB/WR there? I will have pick 2.1 as well but doubt AR falls me to there?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. $300 budget
    I was offered C. Mcafrey $103 & Pickens $28 for c. Lamb $31.
    Should I do this trade?
    I have Henry $79, Kamara $41 and Swift $39, Diggs $61
    Thank you!

    1. I would want to keep Lamb for $31.
