Scouting Notes: Lasco is a big play back who is as explosive as he is fast. A SPARQ freak, Lasco has all the athleticism you could ask for in a dynamic back, but it’s often failed to translate on tape. Lasco doesn’t have great instincts or vision on the field, leaving him to be bottled up more often than a player of his ability ever should be. He had an impressive 2014 season at Cal, earning him team MVP, but his 2015 was hampered by injury, and he’s had a reputation as an injury concern since. Lasco does possess adequate hands, and he’s a superb blocker. He seems best suited for returns right now.
Fantasy Outlook: Lasco’s upright running style doesn’t seem to diminish his speed, but it doesn’t make him that elusive either. He could also stand to gain a little more muscle before he enters his first season in the NFL. Lasco’s ability to block well and his big play potential makes him an ideal special teams candidate. The fact that he’s on the high-flying Saints helps his chances of making a fantasy impact too, albeit an inconsistent one. His durability concerns and issues between the tackles leave him out of the lead-back conversation for now, but anything can happen in a Sean Payton offense. Lasco is a wait-and-see fantasy flyer in deep dynasty leagues.
