Dynasty Rookie Spotlight: Josh Ferguson RB, Indianapolis Colts

Rookie Spotlight: Josh Ferguson RB, Indianapolis Colts
Height: 5’ 9 1/2”
Weight: 198 lbs
Hands: 9 ’’
Arm: 30’’
40 yard dash: 4.48 (Combine)
NFL Comparison: Dion Lewis, Lance Dunbar, Andre Ellington

Scouting Notes: A dual-threat out of the backfield as both a runner and a receiver, Ferguson is the kind of back that thrives in space. Whether he’s catching passes in the slot or playing a more traditional role as a ball carrier, he’s always thinking about the big play, and he can change direction in the blink of an eye, so a big play is usually within reach. Elusive but patient, Ferguson often waits for just the right moment to make his cuts and possesses natural timing. It can be said that he’s a little too reliant on his blocking at times, but running backs are supposed to be reliant on their blocking. He’s a natural at knowing where space is going to open. Unfortunately, Ferguson hasn’t shown himself as a strong between-the-tackles runner to this point in his career and seems injury prone, which limits his potential as a three-down back. His small stature doesn’t help his chances there either. Ferguson will be a potentially potent but fragile weapon in the NFL.

Fantasy Outlook: In a Colts backfield that is short on youthful, dynamic playmakers, Ferguson has a chance to get on the field in spurts early on this season. He was coveted by Indy in the draft, and he’s made a positive impact since joining the team. He’s worth a later-round flier, as he’s a Gore injury away from some degree of every-week fantasy relevance in 2016 and is certainly appealing as a possible long-term option in an Andrew Luck offense as a utility-back-plus. As is — if he can hold his own as a pass blocker — Ferguson could evolve into a third-down back who gets his own series from time to time.

  1. I’m reposting this in the new link.

I got a trade proposal for draft pick changes. See what you think.

    10 man league, 0.5 ppr
    I would get:
    1st round (7th)
    2nd round (14th)
    7th round (67th)

    I would lose:
    2nd round (11th)
    4th round (31st)
    5th round (50th)

So I would be going from
    10, 11, 30, 31, 50, 51, 70, 71, 90, 91, etc.
    to….
    7, 10, 14, 30, 51, 67, 70. 71, 90, 91, etc.

That’s 3 picks in the top 15 as you can see, but I would only get 1 pick between 30 and 67. Do you think this is a good trade? If not, should I counter?

Yes I get to keep my original 1st round #10 pick. Trade expires today soon.

  2. Nvm. I saw your twitter response this morning. Thanks

    Hey Guys,

Any Dynasty stuff on the horizon ?
IE – a cheatsheet or Dynasty rankings

I am in a super competitive league (Dyna) and I have an embarrassment of wr riches, but no real top tier guys beyond dez.
I am looking to parlay 2 of my round two type wrs ( alshon cooks keenan kelvin ) for one top echelon guy, or maybe looking for a few names that you think will EXPLODE to stardom this season.

The cooper owner is being a little douche, so he wont budge, but I have designs on waiting for Watkins 1/3 of his sched to play out, and try to target him in a trade before his sched gets easy.

    Any other ideas ?

We might be able to beg the Trashman to whip up some Dynasty Rankings. Don’t forget about the Dynasty Rookie Cheat Sheet post-NFL Draft. Will consider releasing a post training camp version of that.
