Fantasy Football Quick Hits: What We Learned in Week 6

Quick Hits: Week 6
The Trashman, Rosterwatch.com

AlshonJeffreyPaintingAlshon Jeffery came back to earth real quick like against the Giants. Don’t freak out though, that’s life as a Jay Cutler receiver. He tends to pick a target and stay with him over the course of the game.

Brandon Jacobs is running hard, and try as they might, fantasy prognosticators can’t diminish his current value with their words. If he hasn’t been picked up in your league, you need to be the person who does. – Rueben Randle will get more and more action as the season progresses. The Giants play better when he’s on the field.

Benjarvus Green-Ellis just won’t go away. The less Andy Dalton has to throw, the better the Bengals perform, and that leaves room for the Law Firm and Giovani Bernard. Think of them as the poor man’s Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller.

brandonweedenpaintingBrandon Weeden is kryptonite to Jordan Cameron. 3 of his 5 catches came on the Browns’ final possession. If he succeeds this season, it will be in spite of the mediocre quarterback.

– Determining the fantasy value of any Lions pass catcher outside of Calvin Johnson is a crapshoot. That being the case, it’s best to stay away from any of them right now.

Jamaal Charles can’t keep his pace up. He’s on track for almost 400 carries, which is ludicrous. Any Charles owner would be behooved to handcuff him with Knile Davis.

– Feel free to drop Dwayne Bowe in any league. His value is all but shot with Alex Smith at quarterback.

Terrelle Pryor had a terrible day against the Chiefs, but even with 3 interceptions, he had a passable fantasy day. His ability to run pads his floor.

Darren McFadden seemed to come out of week 6 no worse for the wear. Owners have a dodged a bullet. It might be prudent to try trading him off while the going is good.

Denarius Moore is a valid WR3 with upside. He’s someone to target in trades.

CamNewtonCam Newton has been more than frustrating, but his performance in week 6 is why we hold onto him. He’s got a decent schedule for the next several weeks so continue to roll with him.

DeAngelo Williams has retained value in spite of not getting goal line carries. Trade him while you can. Jonathan Stewart will be back as soon as next week, and Williams’ value can’t withstand that.

Mike Tolbert is worth a pick up in bigger leagues just for his goal line prowess.

Josh Freeman should be the starting QB in Minnesota as soon as he gets up to speed with the offense. Investing in Minnesota receivers would be a shrewd move. This includes TE Kyle Randolph.

– Don’t lose faith in Le’Veon Bell. He had a tough match-up with the Jets and will have another next week against the Ravens, but his arrow is pointing up. If you don’t own him, now would be a good time to try to acquire the rookie. He could carry you through the playoffs.

Heath Miller has picked up where he left off last season. Grab him if he’s a free agent in your league.

– With Mike Goodson injured, it would be a good idea to pick up Chris Ivory. He’s a more talented back than Bilal Powell and time will show that.

nickfolespaintingcropDeSean Jackson might actually be better with Nick Foles at quarterback. Without his legs to depend on, the second year QB has to air it out.

Riley Cooper is worth spot starts as long as Foles is QB.

Doug Martin‘s value should actually increase as Mike Glennon gets more accustomed to the NFL. Now is a good time to buy low.

– Both James Jones and Randall Cobb seemed to have escaped severe injuries. Still, Jarrett Boykin is an immediate add in all formats as the new No. 2 in the Packers receiving corps.

Ray Rice is at the mercy of his horrible offensive line. His schedule only gets tougher too, so it may be a smart move to trade him.

– Houston stinks, but Arian Foster is still a king. Start him despite Houston’s offensive woes.

andrejohnsonAndre Johnson has yet to score a touchdown this season. Move him if you can.

– Looks like the Rams have a tailback in Zac Stacy. He’ll continue to start as long as they’re winning.

Chris Givens can be given up on in most leagues, as can Tavon Austin, who was in Sunday’s game for only a handful of snaps. They will have their days but don’t count on them being consistent by any means.

– As long as Cecil Shorts is sidelined, Justin Blackmon will be a target monster. Try and trade for him.

Knowshon Moreno is an every week RB1.

Wes Welker is very touchdown dependent, but he keeps scoring touchdowns so it doesn’t really matter.

Doug Baldwin should be owned in 12 or more team leagues.

– Trade Chris Johnson off of your team– Yesterday.

Kendall Wright is quickly becoming a young Nate Washington, always good for 5o or more yards.

Danny Amendola is cursed. Julian Edelman should be picked up in all leagues, once again.

Stevan Ridley is back. Start him with confidence.

Jimmy Graham didn’t catch the ball and the Saints lost. How does this not surprise me? Pray that he doesn’t miss time with this latest injury – we should have MRI news by late Monday evening.

Vernon Davis will continue to beast as long as the rest of the 49ers receivers continue to play poorly, which could be all season.

– RB Andre Ellington is the future of Arizona. Pick him up if he’s still available.

– No skill player, save Alfred Morris, had a great game in the Redskins vs. Cowboys match-up. Take all performances with a grain of salt.

– RB Joseph Randle, and to a lesser extent Lance Dunbar, is an immediate add in all fantasy leagues.
