Fantasy Football Quick Hits – What We Learned in Week 8

Quick Hits: Week 8
The Trashman, Rosterwatch.com

Brief thoughts from yesterday’s contests:

Terrance Williams is going to stick around as a big contributor in Dallas. This is bad news for Jason Witten owners it seems, as his lack of production seems negatively correlated to Williams’.

Broyles2

Ryan Broyles is gone for season, and Kris Durham is not consistent. It may be time for deep leaguers to reach for Nate Burleson, who’s on track to return in week 10.

– Apparently there’s been no fallout from the Dez Bryant temper tantrum on Sunday. Bryant wants the ball more, and I can’t begrudge him for it. He only had six targets in a game where Calvin Johnson broke a team record in yards. The Cowboys will know better than to try to run out the clock next time they’re ahead against a high scoring team.

Jason Campbell loves Josh Gordon, and Josh Gordon owners love him for it. Gordon is locked and loaded as a WR1.

Jordan Cameron seems to keep eeking out good fantasy games in garbage time. I don’t see his value dropping with Cambpell at the helm.

DwayneBoweTargets

– If you still own Dwayne Bowe in your fantasy league, you’re not going to win your fantasy league.

Stevan Ridley missed the first quarter yesterday as punishment for a penalty he incurred the previous game. Once he was in, the Patriots were a better team. You have to believe Coach Belichick noticed too. Don’t fear for his value.

Danny Amendola’s poor performance against Miami was the result of game planning. The Patriots went run heavy. Now might be a good time to buy low on him.

Daniel Thomas is going to limit Lamar Miller’s value as long as he’s healthy…and vice versa.

Jimmy Graham was on limited snaps and still scored two touchdowns. Don’t be afraid of him, even with his ongoing foot injury.

Kenny Stills went big this week, but next week is another ball game. Don’t try to ride that wave.

– As long as Matt Barkley is QB in Philly, the values of all Eagles skill players is in jeopardy. On a similar note, any opposing defense is worth a start against him.

Peyton Hillis’ run is about over. The G-Men have a bye this coming week, and Brandon Jacobs and Andre Brown should be back soon after.

cecil shorts

Cecil Shorts is still the most reliable receiver in Jacksonville.

Marvin Jones is a speculative must add in all formats, but Sunday was the best game he’ll have all year. It may be the best game he’ll have in his career. He might turn back into a pumpkin whenever Andrew Hawkins returns.

– The Jets are running with the hot hand at running back. It might be a good idea to move either Bilal Powell or Chris Ivory if you own one of them, rather than get hurt on gameday.

terrelle pryor

Terrelle Pryor is a borderline QB1 from here on out.

– Don’t freak out Knowshon Moreno owners. He’s still the man in Denver.

Montee Ball is going to be worth a flex start as long as Ronnie Hillman is inactive.

Julius Thomas seems to have avoided major injury. The Broncos have a bye this coming week, so that’s a relief.

– Arizona’s defense is legit. They have a bye this coming week and then a juicy matchup against an underperforming Texans team.

Steven Jackson looked slow, but the Falcons don’t have many weapons right now. He’s going to get plenty of carries. He’s a buy low.

– The Packers don’t need a tight end. Don’t hold out hopes they’ll use one effectively in Jermichael Finley’s absence.

Eddie Lacy is a sneaky fantasy RB1 in RB2 clothing. Try and trade for him if you can.

Cordarrelle Patterson is only valuable in return yardage leagues. He had only 26 yards outside of his returns.
