Mike Tomlin has said Isaac Redman will be the feature back in Week 5 for Pittsburgh vs. the Titans as things look now.
It is our belief (and the belief of many outlets close to the organization within our network) that Isaac Redman may have turned the corner, and truly looks like a better option given the current state of affairs with the Steelers Offensive Line. Mendenhall is a great runner behind a great offensive line. He doesn’t have one right now and Redman’s skill set is better suited to adaptability in choosing inconsistent running lanes. He truly has looked better in limited action, and is averaging more yards per carry than Mewelde Moore and Mendenhall who are both questionable to play this week. Represents incredible value as a bye week fill-in.
We have been seeing this coming since pre-season in 2010. Isaac Redman is always all the talk of Steelers camp as a guy that is just lighting it up.
He won’t be available in deeper leagues, but we’re advising rostering Isaac Redman in 12- and even 10-team leagues with deep bench limits.
The best case, home-run scenario here for those who can pick him up is that Redman gets to play a featured role for a game or two, then enter into a prominent time-share role with a healthy Mendenhall as the Steelers make their playoff run (which will have to start earlier than usual at this point). It isn’t often you get a chance to take a flier on a guy that could have that sort of role down the strectch, so go snag him if you have some bum sitting around on your bench wasting your time.
