Garbage Grab: Week 16

The Garbage Grab: Week 16

It’s the final week of the fantasy season for most of us, and while I wouldn’t suggest going too deep in the dumpster for potential players, there are a few guys who have great opportunities in week 16.

Jordan Todman RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: This one’s easy. Todman had a field day against Buffalo last week in MJD’s stead, and MJD is questionable this week. It would be foolish to bring back a player at less than 100% so close to the end of a lost season, if you already have a capable back at your disposal. I don’t like many waiver backs this week, but Todman is a lock to have a good day against the Titans’ 2nd worse run defense should MJD sit out.

Da’ Rick Rogers WR, Indianapolis Colts: Rogers came back to earth last Sunday after a monster game in week 14. He only notched 23 yards versus Houston. Still, I like Rogers this week based on the questionable tag placed on fellow receiver T.Y. Hilton. Hilton will most likely give it a go, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his injury shows on the stat sheet. Rogers is healthier, and he should see an uptick in targets this week.

Aldrick Robinson WR, Washington Redskins: The arrival of Kirk Cousins under center brings a more balanced attack for the Redskins. It seems like he gives all of his receivers a fair shake when it comes to targets. Robinson benefited from this last Sunday with a 99 yard effort against the Falcons. The ‘Skins play the Cowboys this week, and their secondary is arguably the worst in the league, so I like Robinson’s chances this week too.

Kirk Cousins QB, Washington Redskins: While we’re on the topic of the Cowboys’ pitiful secondary, I’d like to suggest Kirk Cousins as a strong play this week. We’ve been watching him for awhile here at Rosterwatch, and he’s shown nothing but promise as a future NFL star. The Cowboys seem especially susceptible to backup QB’s recently, so that fact, though dubious it would seem, can’t hurt Cousin’s outlook. I expect him to have a big day versus Big D.

Marcedes Lewis TE, Jacksonville Jaguars: Lewis has scored a TD in each of the Jag’s last three games, and has become somewhat of a target hog since Cecil Shorts was shut down for the season. A big bodied specimen, who would excel on any other team, Lewis is showing what he’s capable of in spite of the poor state of his offense. Tennessee is fairly weak against tight ends too, so Lewis makes for a low end TE1 this week.

Zach Ertz TE, Philadelphia Eagles: As Nick Foles settles into his role as QB in Philly, he’s started to explore his receiving options more and realizes that sometimes it’s best to just check down to your tight end. Unfortunately for Ertz, Brent Celek is still an integral part of the offense, so he’s not seeing the targets he might otherwise. Ertz is the move tight end though, so he will be more of a passing option in most instances.

Robert Woods WR, Buffalo Bills: No Stevie Johnson, no problem. Woods will be the number one option in the passing game for Buffalo, and that’s really all there is to it. The Dolphins are a serious defense to go up against, especially with Thad Lewis under center, but Woods will see plenty of targets.

Aaron Dobson WR, New England Patriots: Dobson is set to return this week, and ever since the loss of Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots have been hungry for pass catchers. Their opponent this week, the Ravens, aren’t exceptionally easy to pass on, but they’re even more difficult to run on. Dobson is in line for a handful of deep targets.

Alright, you guys have helped to lead me to the championship game this week. I have 2 questions that I’d love some assistance with. #1 Pryor or Kyle Orton this week (I also have romo benched). Also, should I start a defense instead of the Chiefs this week? I can get the Redskins or the Patriots D. Thanks for all the help this season.

  2. We love to hear that TBG! You have to roll with Orton in a game they have to win in Dallas. Also, we like the Patriots this week over the Chiefs. Good luck to you sir!
