Kevin Smith Re-signs with Lions: Fantasy Implications

One of last year’s late season surprises, RB Kevin Smith will play again for Detroit this season. He joins a backfield that includes Jahvid Best and Mikel Leshoure, both of whom are coming off of injuries. Smith is also no stranger to injuries, as they have kept him off of the field for a good portion of his career. I don’t see Smith having  a huge season with all the congestion, but we saw last year that he doesn’t have to be the only RB in the rotation to have some fantastic games fantasy-wise. I wouldn’t advise using any of these guys as handcuffs for the other upon draft day. I would use a mid to late round pick on one of them, and hope the dice roll in your favor or wait a game or two to see how things shape up before choosing one. Chances are, no one in your league will be that eager to wager  on any of these guys right off the bat. They could in fact all prove valuable at different points in the season.
