Monday Fantasy Football Quick Hits

The world-famous cheat sheet has been updated to version 2.7 and is ready for download. Follow the three simple rules and an expert draft is guaranteed!

After a tremendous showing in preseason Week 3, it’s a shocker that Fred Jackson has been released by the Bills. It’s even more shocking that the Cowboys are saying they have no interest in the North Texas product. If he ends up in Cleveland, he’s going to be a fantasy stud again sooner than later. Andre Ellington owners are praying there is no chance FJax lands in Arizona.

We’ve told you and told you and told you- Karlos Williams is a monster. We said he was a perfect fit in Buffalo after the 2015 NFL Draft. We thought Rex Ryan would love him. Apparently that is the case. Make no qualms about it, Karlos Williams is the must-own, high-efficiency handcuff to LeSean McCoy. Williams may even have stand-alone flex appeal at some point, if he gets the goal line carries we expect. He’s a Mack Truck at the stripe.

As we projected in our 32 offensive line ratings, the Bills line is much improved for 2015 – and it’s looked even better than expected so far in the preseason…..

Tyrod Taylor is a very sneaky fantasy QB option, and we love him as a QB2 to begin the season in two quarterback leagues.

Look, we liked Clive Walford at the Senior Bowl- but we were never as smitten as others. We’ve always had a penchant for another Senior Bowl alum- Mychal Rivera. He’s a poor man’s Aaron Hernandez who flashed legit fantasy potential at times last season. So far, this year- it looks like he and Derek Carr still have a connection. Rivera is a TE2 who could offer low-end TE1 production early in the season.

If there’s anybody who could ever repeat the rookie performance of Odell Beckham – it’s Amari Cooper. At this point, we’re not sure even Beckham – who’s our favorite WR in the league – runs routes quite like Cooper. His precision is uncanny, as is his ability to get upfield, and lateral agility. Cooper is the clear #1 in Oakland, and projects as an immediate WR1.

We still believe the Cardinals and Raiders offensive lines will be improved this season, but boy was a last night a complete disaster on both fronts. The quarterbacks paid the price, and the running backs got stuffed. We think Arizona just needs to get healthy. Oakland, on the other hand- must come away from camp with at least 1/2 of the right side of the line worked out. We’re still hopeful the stiff competition on the right side will vet out something respectable at the RG/RT positions.

Well drafted yesterday at 11 in my 12team ppr bar league using the Cheat Sheet. Definitely went receiver heavy.

    Antonio Brown, WR
    Dez Bryant, WR
    DeAndre Hopkins, WR
    Mark Ingram, RB
    Jonathan Stewart, RB
    Brandon Marshal, WR
    Shane Vereen, RB/Rashad Jennings
    Desean Jackson WR
    Muscle Hampster

Is my stable of RB’s Serviceable enough with the WR depth? Also what does RW think of Sam Bradford any possibility of a Nick Folesesque 2013 season?

    1. This team is stout. your rbs aren’t sexy, but they’ll be plenty effective. we think doug martin is going to have a comeback year should he stay healthy. I feel good running out ingram and any combo of stew and martin. my goodness, with that wr corps you could probably only start one rb and still dominate. Philly has been the most prolific offense this preseason, and though you can’t always trust the preseason, kelly’s offense looks explosive. we like bradford a lot. just hope he stays on his feet.

  2. RW, Quick trade question — I received an offer to trade Marcus Wheaton for Martavis Bryant (note, I have Wheaton). I have a fairly strong WR roster with Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson, John Brown. Brian Quick, and Marcus Wheaton. I wouldn’t be playing Wheaton anyway and feel like the upside of M.Bryant is extremely higher post his suspension. I’m ready to accept the trade offer but wanted to get a sanity check from the RW team. Thanks guys!

    1. …should have included this in my original post – 12 team, 1pt PPR.

    2. it makes sense, especially with jones and johnson on board.

  3. 14 team standard…thoughts

    stafford, bortles
    miller, yeldon, gurley, matthews, coleman
a brown, hilton, a cooper, lattimer, janis
    rudolph
    bailley
    packers

    1. this is a great draft considering the league size. gurley is the best rb we’ve scouted in our 5 years visiting schools and the combine. he’s going to be something to watch once he gets going. miller is going to get tons of work as the dump off for short throwing tannehill, and yeldon operated as 3 down back in his lone preseason appearance. Your wrs need no explaining. i might look for elsewhere for backups if it turns out janis doesn’t get the no.3.

    I joined a 12 team standard league 1 QB 3 WR 2 RB 1TE 1K 1DE and drafted this team:
    Carson Palmer
Julio Jones, Emmanuel Sanders, Amari Cooper, Roddy White, Charles Johnson, Breshad Perriman
Matt Forte, Doug Martin, TJ Yeldon, Tre Mason, J. Stewart, Chris Ivory
    Richard Rodgers
    Blair Walsh
    Miami

I am pretty happy with this team, but I don’t really want Palmer as my QB1. There is a guy in my league who drafted both A. Rodgers AND B. Roethlesburger but has some bad RBs. What do you guys think about a trade of Palmer and maybe Ivory for Roethlesburger and McFadden or Andre Williams?

    1. sounds reasonable if you don’t plan using using ivory. I’d probably aim for williams. looks like he could be the goal line back. don’t know how mcfadden will be used yet. may change all season.

  5. Thoughts on this draft in a 1/2 PPR, 10 team league?

Lacy (went against the standard sheet recommending Dez based on my WR keepers)
    Gordon
    L. Murray
    Andre Johnson
    B. Marshall
    E. Sanders (keeper)
    D. Martin
    T. Coleman
    S. Smith
    P. Rivers
    B. Cooks (keeper)
    C. Hyde (keeper)
    T. Bridgewater
    K. Rudolph

    1. good draft, you’re deep, so you might think about pairing some of those borderline elite players to get an elite wr. it’s a ppr though, and the wrs you have should be target hounds.

  6. I’m in a 12 team PPR Leaue using the cheat sheet my team is as follows
    P. Rivers
    J. Forsett
    D. Martin
    A. Brown
    J. Jones
    D. Walker
    E. Sanders
    Vikings D
    C. Parkey
    T. Gurley
    T. Mason
    J. Bell
    M. Colston
    E. Royal
    Eagles D
    J. Gray

Question is who sould I put in my flex and 2 RB slots?

    1. I would start Forsett and Martin until we see how things shake out with Gurley, plus Mason has a touch matchup week one anyhow. I would start Sanders in the flex spot assuming you start Jones and Brown at WR. Good looking squad man!

      1. Mason may not even play week 1 apparently.

        1. We’ll have all the week one tools starting next week, the matchup tool for week 1 is just now finished, we’ll have much better answers after the weekend about WK1 sit starts.

    2. my 2 rbs here would be forsett and martin with bell in the flex.

  7. Hey. 12 Team, Full PPR, Keeper League. So, I drafted Yeldon ahead of Hyde, Stewart, Gordon and Gurley. I like Yeldon’s potential three down role and expect the Jags to have improved O-line play. Ivory was a 14th round keeper. I took Lacy in the 1st round. First question, do you think I made a mistake taking Yeldon ahead of those other RB’s? Also, I need Yeldon, Ivory, Vereen, Gio, Tre Mason, Andre Williams, or Artis-Payne to turn into a high end RB2. What do you think? I am stacked at WR. Thank you.

  8. 3rd pick in a 14 team .5 PPR
Format: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX (R/W/T), DEF, K with 5 bench spots

    1) Charles
    2) Gore
    3) E. Sanders
    4) J. Stewart
    5) C. Ivory
    6) S. Smith Sr.
    7) T. Mason
    8) R. White
    9) I. Crowell
    10) Palmer
    11) B. Perriman
    12) R. Rodgers
    13) P. Dawson
    14) Bengals

Thoughts on this draft from last night? I didn’t break any rules but I’m a little worried about my QB, TE, and even my WR situation…

I thought I was going to get Rivers in the 9th but watched him get drafted as a backup two picks before mine…however the Rivers owner immediately said he’d trade me him because he needs RBs and already has Matt Ryan. His RBs are Lacy, J. Bell, Foster, and Sproles so would you guys try trading for Rivers and what will it take?

    1. looks like there was an early run on wrs, but this isn’t a bad draft for a 14 teamer. your strength is def at rb, and if you’re really worried about wr you could probably get a decent one for ivory or stewart. I think smith and white are underrated going into this season though. I’m not worried about palmer, but if you want rivers i’d suggest offering one of those aforementioned backs. I do think you need another te, as we don’t know how rodgers will be used yet, though i think the loss of nelson helps his case.

      1. Appreciate the solid input as always Trashman!

        1. The Rivers owner actually offered me Rivers and Sproles for JStew which I was tempted to take, however now that you said you’re not worried about Palmer, I’m trying to figure out if I’m better off trading away JStew or Ivory for a better WR instead? Or should I just take the deal? Is Sproles worth it (I’d have to drop someone) or should I just do JStew for Rivers?

        2. Do you think I can pry away Hopkins, D. Adams, or Tate from a team who only has Forte, Bernard, D. Cobb, and Duke Johnson as his RBs? I was thinking of offering JStew or Ivory for one his WRs…

        3. Also as far as my TE problem goes, the best guys on waivers according to your rankings include guys like Gates, Ebron and Miller so are any of them upgrades over Rodgers right now or should I target someone’s backup in a trade? The Rivers owner I mentioned above also has Jimmy Graham and C. Clay so maybe I should offer a RB up for one of those two?

        1. 1. no point in including sproles in the deal if you do it
          2. i would try this before no.1. id probably bite if i was him.
          3. i think miller is fine. he’s always solid.

  9. First just want to say I won this league last year thanks to the cheat sheet. 12 team full PPR how did I do:
    QB: Rivers
    RB: L. Murray
    RB: Abdulla
    WR: Beckham Jr
    WR: D. Thomas
    TE: Cameron
    Flex: Cooks
    BN: D. Martin
    BN: Agholor
    BN: Vereen
    BN: D. Freeman
    BN: Charles Johnson

Love my recievers but I’m a little worried about my backs.

    1. I know it looks scary, but we have confidence in all of your backs except maybe vereen and freeman to a small extent. freeman should at least start out the season as lead back in atl. you could maybe try selling high on him after the first few weeks. Otherwise, you have a stellar roster to start out with this year. the consistency of your wrs should mitigate any shakiness you might see in your rbs, which there may be none.

  10. 12 Team .5 PPR – no keepers

1st time with cheat sheet – thoughts on my team?

    QB Stafford
    WR A. Brown
    WR D. Hopkins
    RB Forte
    RB J. Stewart
    TE D. Allen
    Flex B. Marshall
    Flex. S. Watkins
    Bench Players
    G. Bernard
    Roddy White
    D. Freeman
    S. Bradford
    M. Crabtree

    Hou DST

    1. i think you’ve got a playoff caliber squad my friend. the combo of brown, hopkins and forte is going to be formidable, especially in this format. we think marshall could eclipse 80 receptions this season and is being undervalued in drafts. watkins too. the one question mark is allen, and he may not even be much of one. we just don’t know his role on the offense yet. he definitely has the ability to be a regular contributor. It might make sense to drop crab for another tight end.

  11. whats the thoughts on emmanuel sanders being so high on the cheat sheet he himself said he’d be lucky to get 1000 yards this year and the offense is going to be a lot slower paced with less pass attempts, i don’t think they ran any no huddle this preseason? and denver d looks like its going to be real good this year. i got him in both of my leagues but am thinking about shopping him before the season starts, talk some sense in me.

  12. .5 pt

    1. well the word out of denver is that lattimore isn’t improving like they’d like, and there’s no welker or thomas around. daniels might take a little of the action, but there’s going to be a lot of thomas and sanders, and as manning’s arm wears through the season, i doubt he’s going to be taking as many deep shots to thomas. sanders may not be a yardage monster, but he’s going to get a slew of targets, and he knows what to do with them. come here first before you do anything too drastic.

  13. WR3: Nelson Agholor or Markus Wheaton? (missing Martavis Bryant until week 5)
RB 2: Jonathan Stewart or Joique Bell? (missing LeVeon Bell until week 3)

    Thanks!

    1. i like wheaton while bell is out. i’d like to agholor to get a game or two under his belt before relying on him. i like stew this week against jax.
