The Trashman’s Scouting Notes:

Nick Kasa is probably best-known currently as the player who was asked at the NFL combine by a scout whether or not he likes girls.

Kasa was a defensive end until midway through his junior year at Colorado, so he’s fairly new to the position he’s been drafted to play. And he only really got onto the field during his senior season. That being said, Kasa’s 4.71 forty speed is relatively fast for his size, and time spent at fullback between position moves improved his blocking ability immensely. It’s this skill that will keep him on the field at the next level.

The Trashman’s Fantasy Outlook:

The Oakland tight end competition is wide open right now, with Kasa, Mychal Rivera, and David Ausberry all vying for the starting position. Kasa, because of his blocking prowess, has a good chance of winning the job, but he’s not really a pass catching tight end at this point in his career. That’s something that can be cultivated though, and with a young quarterback under center, it’s more likely that blocking will be a greater priority right now anyway. With straight line speed to spare, you could see him getting some looks on occasion, but I don’t think you can rely on him to be a productive fantasy player in the near future. He is worth a look in dynasty leagues, but leave him alone in redrafts.
