Raiders fans, this is such a solid pick. THANK GOD it wasn’t Landry Jones. Because, we thought it was going to be.

Now that all the NFL Draft hay is in the barn, I can look back and say I’m pretty satisfied with our Pre-Senior Bowl Evaluation of Tyler Wilson– it was pretty darn accurate. Even the great Jon Gruden nit-picked his footwork.

There is a lot to like about Tyler Wilson. He has five years of experience at a big-time program in a big-time conference. He’s versed in a pro-style offense. He’s mobile. His flaws look correctable.

Our biggest questions were about character, intelligence, and leadership ability. We interviewed Wilson personally, and our curiosities were answered with flying colors. This guy is sharp. This guy is coachable. Wilson is a bit of a gunslinger that fits right in to a Matt Flynn QB competition and fans should expect him to contribute sooner than later.

Fantasy Diagnosis:

As a rookie, Wilson will most likely be waiver wire fodder in redraft leagues. Considerations should be different in Dynasty leagues, though. If Oakland’s young offensive weapons mature and find a way to stay healthy, they are an explosive group that can score points. When Tyler Wilson takes the helm, he will have some upside. Dynasty owners who need a developmental quarterback to eventually start or bolster their depth chart are advised to take a late round flier in their upcoming rookie draft on the former Razorback.
