It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Titans RB Demarco Murray, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Tennessee Titans. You will see that the Titans are playing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7 and there are four color-coded cells in the columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Colts) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS. They are not the rankings for the Titans, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the Colts). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Titans, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Titans RBs face the best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 7. This is a great indicator for owners of Demarco Murray, or for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

    i dont need ware as flex value – basically its a handcuff off but i dont want to give this guy a startable player.

    saturday you talked about trying to get henry but without sending too ridiculous of value to get him- did ware cross that threshold this sunday?

      Keep Ware this week and then make that trade next week, the market will still be there – cross your fingers that Demarco doesn’t get hurt in the meantime.

    Looking to shake up things in a H2H 1PT PPR. I’m a McCoy owner looking to get Gillislee from a Bell owner (I have DeAngelo). They lost Reed I have Hunter Henry and Barnidge and thinking of trying to buy low on Hopkins from them also as his schedule ahead is nice (Lions, Jags,Raiders,Chargers, Packers,Colts, Jags. Their QB situation is Winston and Mariota who both have favorable matchup’s ahead (especially Winston, Saints twice in weeks 14 & 16). Should I try a three way where I give up Brady, Barnidge or Henry and DeAngelo for Hopkins, Gillislee and Mariota or Winston. Or is trading Brady just not a good idea the way he is playing and just go DeAngelo for Gillislee straight up. My other QB is Cousins and I’m weak at WR other than Julio Jones and Meredith.

      Do not give up Brady. He makes up a for a lot. Dwill for MG is a tiny bit much, but we are totally fine with you doing it to lock up Shady. That deal makes sense for both parties, and is valuable enough to ea – that haggling over a few wooden nickels isn’t worth it. If you don’t want to go crazy on MG and/or don’t really need him short-term- our long-term play at backup RB in BUF is Jonathan Williams. We have scouted both live, like both- but JW is much beastlier than MG. Think of Karlos Williams last year.

    STD scoring 10-team and looking for a WR for ROS with most upside potential since this is my weakest position. Tate on ww and thinking I should drop either Hurns or even Ty Williams for him. My WRs are Cooper/Maclin/Williams/Britt/Hurns and 2 TEs are Eifert &a Graham but think I should keep both.

      Only if I was in desperation mode and was going to actually start Thompson this week based on some cockamamie idea that he is going to help you win this week. If this is a depth move- NO don’t do it. If you don’t own DeMarco and are itchy to move DH (which we aren’t, unless we are in a bind)- then shop him to the Murray owner. He still has a lot of value to that individual.

    .5 ppr guys and I’m seriously considering benching antonio Brown this week. I know he is the best receiver in football but the matchup and the qb situation are scary and i have a must win week. Only asking because I got a bunch of great matchups.

        As usual- PLEASE circle back for Trashmans Flex Rankings, and our final positional rankings over the weekend and Sunday AM.

        For now- I’m a Howard owner and tend to share your concerns- however I am still considering starting him over guys like Crowell and Matt Jones who have better matchups. He’s just too good- and he’s great in the passing game- Zeke just went huge on GB. We’ll see.

        For now- love Amari + ABrown or Marvin. Like Maclin’s matchup just can’t trust him enough to recommend starting him if your season is on the line. I traded Hopkins this week because I need a win this week as well- and I passed on a deal for Maclin who looks great on paper this week- for a deal with Alshon. Just hard to put your season on the line like that.

        RB = If this is Tevin Coleman- get him in I LOVE him this week. After that is MG if Shady is out in basically a tie in my mind with Howard.

    I kind of asked similar question the other day but with McCoy injury news I am now stressing about my decisions.
    STD Scoring league where I can start 2rb/2wr or 1rb/3wr.
    With McCoy injury and Howard going against the Packers tonight. Is Quizz Rodgers worth picking up and starting over either of them?
    Julio holds one of the 4 spots so I have to start 3 between Edelman, Maclin, McCoy, Howard, or picking up Quizz.

      Yeah he is. I always liked him from our live scouting during the 2013 NFL Draft process. Alex never really did. Trashman has since fallen in love.

      If Shady is out- I do like him quite a bit this week. However, keep in mind we have also scouted Jonathan Williams live- and he is of a similar ilk as Karlos Williams was. Keep an eye on him has the long run sneaky handcuff to Shady. He is a beastlier player than MG.

    First of all props to you guys for all the work you do preseason and in season responding to all these messages. I feel like you guys need to have a section to your site that has more structure and rules for what kind of questions go where. Seems like it’ll make your life a little easier and put up some rules for keeping these messages short So you guys don’t go blind in the next three years from reading all this shit. Easy for me to say but there have got to be some tools like simple forms where your fans enter player for player trades and it can just lookup your value rankings automated.       Gio got the goal line carries last week, which are usually Hill’s saving grace. Thomas is only getting more involved in the offense, and Brees looks for him in the endzone.

    I have Julio, Baldwin, Larry Fitz and Kelvin Benjamin. I’m starting Julio, DB and Fitz but my opponent has Cam. Love the matchups for DB and Fitz, however I am wondering if I would be crazy to swap out Dougie Fresh or Fitz for Benjamin to offset any of Cams potential td passes? If so, who do I sit?
