RosterWatch Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet: Week 8

Byron BylineWinning fantasy football means being active on the weekly waiver wire. You have to be, as the season morphs before our very eyes from week to week in dramatic fashion. It’s nearly impossible to go coast to coast in any competitive league with the team you drafted. What this means is, every week you need to identify the unproductive garbage at the bottom of your roster – and exchange those players for the hottest new pickups of the week. Often times these free agent acquisitions end up being valuable commodities that can change the course of your season.

The RosterWatch Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet is a weekly tool that will help you easily navigate this process, with expert results guaranteed. Researching free agent pickups can be mind-numbing and time-consuming, so we’ve done all the work for you with this simple one-page document. Use it exactly like the Draft Cheat Sheet- start at the top and work your way to the bottom.

All players in the tool are less than 50% owned across all major fantasy sites. Many of them may even be had for free on Wednesday morning after waivers run. Please post any questions about the player rankings within this tool in the comments section below.

    10 team Full Point PPR 2WR 2 RB 1 Flex of WR/RB

    1st Place 5-2

    My Team

    Kaepernick
    Demaryius Thomas
    Andre Johnson
    Golden Tate
    Matt Forte
    Jamaal Charles
    Jimmy Graham

    Bench
    Jordan Reed
    Roddy White
    Joique Bell
    Knile Davis
    Ryan Matthews

Do I roll with this team or would it be wise to try and upgrade to another WR1 with packaging Reed and some others? Or is it better to trade Graham for another RB1 to put in the flex?

    Thanks for the help.

    1. Team looks strong to me, just filled with tough weekly decisions. Eventually yes you’ll want to trade a Reed + for upgrades to starting roster for stretch run.

  2. Tre mason — Is this long term or the beginning of a 3 back nightmare like NE.

    1. We would guess it isn’t a long-term 100% lock but it’s more in that direction than a 3-way nightmare like Belichick uses which is matchup based. Stacy not that different a guy toolset wise than Mason other than Mason’s just better.

  3. Is that a 6 Team leaguejakem?

  4. Using rest of my budget our already trying to on Bryce and denard. Am I crazy. Haven Stewart and Lev bell as only healthy backs.

    1. No, it’s a big week on the wire– do your thing. It’s why you’ve got a budget – to use it when needed, can’t take it with you to next season.

      1. So crazy high bids took both players. Was able to get cadet abd harbor off write for free at least. Bolden worth grabbing? Ne is always a grab shoot. Thoughts on Romo versus rivers this week?

  5. Denard R or Dixon off waivers? Is either worth blowing the majority of my remaining $ for bidding? Thanks.

    B. Brown is already owned.

    1. It would depend on RB situation, but in situations of need, I think Denard is surely VERY speculative, but worth a significant bid as is Dixon- if there is a need.

    2. Would take the shot on Denard over Dixon to andwer your question tho lol

  6. Gonna drop spiller for either Hillman, Mason, Brown or Robinson.. Who should I make first priority in a ten team standard league? Also who would you drop Shorts or Holmes? Thanks guys

    1. For the rest of year.. I have Bernard, Bradshaw, Hill, Davis, and Hyde

    2. dhsilva-

We would drop Shorts. VERY CLOSE BETWEEN Mason, Brown, and Robinson. Splitting hairs. If it’s up to us it’s either Brown or Mason, unless Robinson has WR status in your league- and you could play him as a weekly WR. If not- we’d go with Mason first, Brown second, Robinson 3rd

      1. Awesome.. Thanks!

  7. Any reason to hang onto ap? I just can’t cut him loose but I think it’s a lost cause. Was thinking about a speculative grab of rice…

    1. Josh-

Yes- feel free to cut AP- unless somehow you are already like 7-0. Otherwise, there are great waiver pickups this week- all of whom we would drop Peterson for. Good luck.

14 team standard league offered their Joique Bell and Landry for my Wallace and Pierce.
I’m currently 1 W 6L and am in RB hell with Martin, Sankey, Stacy and Andre Williams as my other rbs.
Have Maclin, Maclom Floyd, Beckham Jr, and Evans as my other WRs.

    1. steve.hanson89-

We would probably do the deal- since you are desperate at RB. Joique is a solid option. However, we would first try to find an owner in your league you could make a bigger 2 for 1 deal with (where you package two players) for one really solid RB better than Joique. Look for other desperate losing owners in your league and go check their rosters out and see if there is anything like this to be had. Good luck.

  9. Non ppr do I dumb brandin cooks for brice brown?

    1. It depends if you’re desperate at rb. Brown isn’t sure to take the reigns over Dixon.

  10. PPR, drop Antone Smith for Brown?

    1. Yes, Smith is beastly, but Atlanta doesn’t utilize him enough to trust.

  11. Opposite problem with this team…I have to many options…haha. Standard league. 2rb, 2wr, flex
RB-Lacy, McKinnon, Hillman, Ivory (with Rashad and Spiller out.)
WR- Dez, Julio Jones,Tate, Mike Wallace (with AJ Green out.)

I am leaning towards sitting Jones for Tate? AM I CRAZY! Who do you start?
    Thanks!

    1. Lacy, Hillman, Dez, Jones, and then Tate in flex.

  12. I’m second in a 12-team standard scoring league with a 6-1 record and most points. I’m sitting on 5 starting RBs (DeMarco, Bradshaw, Rashad Jennings, Branden Oliver, and Lamar Miller), along with Philip Rivers (backup/sometime starter Russell Wilson), Jimmy Graham, Kelvin Benjamin, Julian Edelman, and Eric Decker.

My arch-nemesis (I’ll call him Satan to put things into perspective) is 7-0 and only 5 points behind me for points lead. We play each other this weekend in our only regular season matchup. Our rosters are crazily similar (he has Luck, 5 starting RBs also, Demaryius, TY, and Vernon Davis). I think I can improve my WRs and I can’t play all 5 RBs each week. Plus, I believe Satan is trying to trade one of his RBs to improve his depth at WR.

So I’ve put Miller and Edelman on the trading block as a unit. I’ve been offered Dez Bryant for Lamar Miller and Edelman. I think it’s a no-brainer, but I’m curious what you think. Should I trade my RB depth for a stud WR1?

    1. I’d make that trade. It’ll make deciding who to start that much easier when Jennings returns.

  13. I have Zac Stacy in a keeper league. Whoop de damn doo! I can keep him for a 9th rd pick next year. At this point, is Stacy safe to drop? I wold be dropping him and picking up Denard R (presuming I do not get outbid).

    Thanks.

    1. I would hold onto Stacy.

  14. Standard league flex spot need 1, Sankey, Tre Mason, I Crowell, Torrey Smith, B Quick, or Andre Holmes? Thanks

  15. I’ve been hanging on to Crowell. Would you drop him for denard Robinson, Bryce brown or Doug Baldwin?

Should I handcuff Taylor to Ellington?

    1. I might drop him for any of those guys right now. He won’t get a full compliment of snaps as long as Tate’s healthy. I’ve picked up Taylor where I can, but more as a desperation flex than a handcuff.
