RosterWatch Week 1 Matchup Tool Now Available

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Saints WR Michael Thomas, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Saints (Thomas’ team). You will see that the Saints’ opponent (OPP) is the Texans in Week 1, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Texans’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the SAINTS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the TEXANS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Saints, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Thomas faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 1 (the Texans). This is a great indicator for owners of Michael Thomas, Tre’Quan Smith or even Ted Ginn Jr. – and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering any of them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups

      even If we know he’s back I still prefer CMC or SB at 1/2. At 3 Id tell you you should if not risk averse (assuming he hasn’t signed by then)

    I drafted 12 of 12 teams in a PPR. I think I’m solid, but I have a concern about owning Evans and OJ Howard. Should I trade one of them?

      What a 12 team roster —- Jesus. U should be fine for now but eventually you’ll want to maybe move Howard. Don’t do it out of desperation tho – Perhaps ask the HEnry or Engram owners in your league if they’d do a straight up deal. They probably value OJH over those guys. Make sure to mention the big O/U in the shootout coming up w/ SF.

    Have a dynasty 1/2 point PPR..
    I have Allen robinson,Antonio brown, Kennan Allen, MVS, keke, Sutton , and deebo Samuel, and Anthony Miller the golden son from last year. for my WR we start 3 WR and 2 flex..
    I was offered next year 1st round for Anthony Miller not sure if I should accept it??
    I can pick up Daniel jones QB for the giants and I have wentz right now and would of course keep him and stash Jones ….
    Just not sure with having 2 bears on my team…

      If anyone, probably Howard in an 8 teamer where you are looking for guys who are going to be more volatile with potential to blow up huge but lower floor. You’re never going to start Howard.

    Just drafted a super RosterWatchy lineup from the 5 spot in my 12tm PPR right now. Followed the sheet, of course:

    QB – Goff, Winston
    RB – D Johnson, Fournette, Kerryon, Michel, Murray
    WR – Woods, Godwin, Samuel, Sutton, Miller
    TE – Henry

    I did tons of simulations and mocks beforehand and almost always ended up with Johnson/Fournette but was pleasantly surprised to land Kerryon/Godwin/Woods in rds. 3/4/5. Thanks guys!
