This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2018 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Browns RB Nick Chubb, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Browns (Chubb’s team). You will see that the Browns’ opponent (OPP) is the Bengals in Week 16, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Bengals’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

AGAIN – They are not the rankings for the Browns, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Bengals). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Browns, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Chubb faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 16 (the Bengals). This is a great indicator for owners of Chubb and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

    Gotta say THANK YOU!!!! Won my championship this past week in one league, only 4 make playoffs so its a 2 week tourney. Other league I am in the ship this week. Used Cheat Sheet for both leagues and its been GREAT!

    Quick questions for this week though, 2 QB league Full PPR
    QB’s are Ryan, Watson or Trubisky. Right now I have Ryan and Watson in
    And for Flex I can use Conner, Carson, or Landry. Thinking Conner or Carson, kinda leaning Carson with matchup but Conner has gotten me here. Any help would be great!

      Now that I look at Rankings, they actually have Carson over Lindsey, I have Lindsey as my RB2, so should I consider Lindsey as Flex now. RB 1 is Mixon

    Quick question, and I know things may change to as we learn more information throughout the week. I am in the Yahoo league and I have Jaylin Samuels which means I can put him in at tight end. My only other option is Jimmy Graham so that one’s easy As I would imagine that Samuels might spell Connor a bit in the change of pace role.
    My question is, I am debating whether I put in James Connor coming off injury or do I play Chris Carson? My other two running back spots are occupied by CMC and chub.

    Hey guys, thanks for all the advice this year!
    Got a couple questions.
    Do you think that Samuel’s will be involved enough, even If conner plays, to warrant a TE spot? It’s either him, mcdonald, goddert, jarwin, lacosse. Yuck!
    Also, at flex, I need one between r.woods, l.miller, ballage, kelly, d.williams. (assuming best case scenario for all of them) 0.5 ppr.

      I think you can still slide JS to TE and get some action! Don’t hate Vance if the matchup rating is good , haven’t looked yet. Obv very slimy feeling playin Lacosse this week in a championship- but actually don’t hate it in a crazy situation. Fortunately, I think you prob have better options.

    Thanks for all the help guys. It started with the draft thru to the championship game. RW has helped all the way thru. Championship game is in a PPR league. My line up is:
    QB Mahomes
    RB CMC, Kamara
    WR Hilton, Diggs
    TE Njoku or Ian Thomas {matchup tool says Njoku}
    Flex Carson and one from Evans, Jeffrey, M. Williams, Bellage, Fournette or Connor.
    The rule of thumb says touches over targets but with Conner saying he’s not ready and the BS that Jax coach Marrone pulled last week, I really don’t know which way to go. Thanks for the help.

    Thanks to you in 3 money leagues Playing for another championship after going 12-1 and the 3rd place game in another in the championship league I have only one transaction left already starting Luck, Mixon, Chubb, TY , Juju, either David Johnson or samuels in the flex with conner out my problem is kicker or TE…playing Rudolph and matt Bryant… but Meyers is available and lacosse or goedert but Ballage is available do I stick with what I have improving either te or kicker or grab ballage and start him over what I have in place ??

    Playing for the title here and I need some advice, 1pt. ppr:

    If Keenan Allen plays, do I play him over Jarvis Landry?

    I also just picked up Chris Hogan in light of the Josh Gordon news. Is he viable? I currently start 3 WRs:

    If julio or juju doesn’t go, I planned on playing Trequan.
    If both don’t go who else would you put in: james washington, chris hogan (puking), gallup. those are about best options, unless there is some DEEP garbage grab type player you’d throw in. I am still comfortable in my matchup as opponent has:
    Mahomes, damien williams, gus bus edwards, kennan allen, robby anderson, deshawn hamilton, gronk, lockett.

    With Kennan Allen “q”, I have mike williams to sub in. Even if he plays im still considering benching him and playing Mike williams. Thoughts?

    do you guys think joe mixon is gonna be bottled up all game with no green or boyd, and driskel at qb and browns looking for payback against hue jackson?

      it’s not a bad a idea, as Williams is good bet to score, but his floor is as low as they come. i’d play diggs in his spot and flex damien w. i think mixon is a safe play regardless
