RosterWatch Week 16 Matchup Tool Now Available
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Seahawks (Wilson’s team). You will see that the Seahawks’ opponent (OPP) is the Cardinals in Week 16, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Cardinals’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS FOR THE WEEK.
They are not the rankings for the Seahawks, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Cardinals). In the “OPP vs. QBs” cell for the Seahawks, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Wilson faces our best possible matchup for opposing QBs in Week 16 (the CARDINALS). This is a great indicator for owners of Wilson and it is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup rankings can shift through the week with line and O/U movements as well as injury news.
“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

Start 2 of 3 in PPR: Sutton, Edelman, AJ brown
Thanks in advance and for a great season!!
I love Sutton’s matchup, but he’s so hit or miss with Lock. I’d go Brown and Edelman in a PPR.
Why Boyd ranked so low (32rd WR) given the number 2 WR matchup? I need 2 from the following WR.
Boyd
Kirk
TMac
Perriman
Deebo Sam
Slayton
I’ve also got
Pats defense
Broncos Defense
Winner gets $900, loser $100.
RW Nation for life!!!!!
Perriman and Boyd. the HOU/TB O/U is 50 with Houston currently as 3 point favorites. Should be tons of throwing in this matchup.
I’d say either Boyd or McLaurin although there is risk with both as the Giants and Dolphins aren’t great against the run either so you could see good games from Mixon and AP which could potentially take away numbers from the WRs.
I would lean towards Boyd as the O/U for the Mia/Cin game is currently 5 points higher than the NYG/Wash game and they are playing in Miami,so warmer weather which benefits more passing potentially.
TD only…need 1 wr/te…..Parker, Slayton , Rudolph, OJ Howard, or McLauren? lol…seems like Parker has worst match up but is ranked the highest?
I’d go Parker. He’s their #1 WR on a team that really does not run the ball. In what should be a close game,Fitz should be slinging it. For TE,as risky as it sounds,I’d go Howard. TB is without Evans and Godwin this week and I highly doubt Perriman repeats his performance so Howard should get more looks. of course Brate could get more looks too.
Feel like I won the lottery last night getting both Boone and Perriman off the waivers. Now have to juggle who to start. 2QB, 0.5 PPR
With Lamar Jackon and Deshaun Watson set, I need 1-3 RB and 3-5 WR/TE.
RB: M Boone, P Laird, C Hyde, D Washington, Kerryon Johnson (though I don’t trust him off of IR)
WE/TE: C Kirk, Perriman, Waller, Diggs, Boyd, Doyle.
How does the math change as I am seeing news of J Jacbos being held out Wk 16?
Thanks for the advice. Let’s bring home the ‘ship this week.
Yo Guys –
Need a WR and a Flex out of these 4. Full PPR:
Mattison/Boone, AP, C Kirk and Metcalf. I’m starting Russ and Hollister as well. Thanks!
Oops…scratch that last part. on AP. You needed a WR and Flex. Go Kirk at WR and Boone at FLEX.
Kirk is a game time decision now (gross) so I’d pivot to Metcalf although I still don’t like going too heavy on players for a team.
Boone at flex for sure. He should be heavily involved at home in a game where they are favored. Plus it is nice to have some players playing on monday night against your opponent.
I really don’t like the idea of starting Wilson,Hollister, and Metcalf so it’s between Kirk and AP.
For AP,he’s the main man in the run game now and I would think in this type of game, they will be leaning on him but they have been running the ball more and he has been getting a lot more touches lately. Even in a tough matchup against the Eagles he did well.
Kirk was a victim of Drake’s 4 TDs but he should get more opportunities this week.
I’d say go Kirk if you need the upside and AP if you need a good floor.
