RosterWatch Week 2 Matchup Tool Now Available

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2020 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Cowboys (Dak’s team). You will see that the Cowboys’ opponent (OPP) is the Falcons in Week 2, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Falcons’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the COWBOYS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the FALCONS). In the “OPP vs. TE” cell for the Cowboys, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Dak faces our best possible matchup for opposing QBs in Week 2 (the Falcons). This is a great indicator for owners of Dak Prescott, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

      I would not do it. Folks are nervous about Drake right now, your opponent is trying to sell high- and you can’t roster 2 CHI WR (you can’t bank on ARob being traded)!

      Your WR are the strength of your team, and I would not compromise that. Can you offer Allen Robinson and Michel for Drake and Miller?

      Ozigbo can be dropped 🙂

      It’s a pretty fair deal. You are deep enough at WR to do it, and your RBs would probably look a little nicer on paper. I would look at upcoming matchups, but part of me wonders if Keeping Metcalf and shipping off Moore would be smarter. In the end a fair deal if you are looking to balance your roster. MUCH of this depends on how many RBs you can actually start in your league every week. Can you play 3-4 RBs? Can you still play 3 wr? Don’t want too many studs on your bench. I also might rather do Drake and Robinson for Taylor and leave Metcalf and Dobbins out of it, also allowing you to clear a roster spot for waiver pickups

        The more I look at this the more I think it’s a little rich. Metcalf for Taylor straight up would be more fair, maybe Metcalf + Robinson for Taylor. Or Robinson and Gallup for Dobbins. Or, Drake and Robinson or Taylor. I like something like that a little more. You have the right idea though.

        The way I see it is, Taylor is about equal value to Metcalf. So Drake or Drake + Robinson is a little too much for Dobbins. The other owner is tying to sell a little high on both his rookie RBs in order to fill out his roster. We like these kind of trades but the value is a little off on the current offer

    Have some early decisions because of Thursday game. 0.5 ppr need 1 we 1 rb and flex between Boyd, mike Evans, David Montgomery, and Snell.

    Also in another league 0.25 ppr Hooper or OJ Howard.

    PS crushed it in dfs last week thanks to you paid for all my leagues with the winnings.

      Evans + Montgomery + wait as long as you can to get more info on Snell for this wk. He’s the start if you can. If you don’t feel you have enough info by the time Boyd plays, he’s a safe bet to stick in there. I’d prefer to wait for Snell clarity if possible, but that would require you having another option on Sunday you feel is somewhat comparable to Boyd to feel comfortable taking the gamble.

      I think both of those TE have appeal this week. I might lean Howard until I see more from CLE, but this week looks a lot better for Hooper. I’d prob start Howard right now

    Ok so follow up to my 2 for 1 trade question above; if the last place guy doesn’t want to trade Hopkins also noticed the guy in 9th had Micheal Thomas, Marlon Mack, and Lev Bell go down, Should I propose him the Gallup, Crowder, or Parker + Akers or maybe Dobbins to try and land Amari Cooper?

      Why don’t you just trade for Michael Thomas! That guy is desperate and this is when Thomas’ value will be the lowest. I would only do something with Gallup for Amari- you can’t own two Cowboys WR. Gallup + Akers or Dobbins feels steep for Cooper

    I’m starting DeAndre Hopkins, obviously, and I have to pick two of the following:

    CeeDee Lamb
    Poopoo Beckham
    AJ Green
    Will Fuller
    Cortland Sutton
    Jamison Crowder

    Fuller has a crap matchup this week and Sutton and Crowder are banged up. So I have CeeDee Lamb in now and am thinking about AJ Green over Poopoo Beckham
