RosterWatch Week 2 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2021 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Packers RB Aaron Jones, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Packers (Jones’ team). You will see that the Packers’ opponent (OPP) is the Lions in Week 2, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Lions’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the PACKERS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the LIONS). In the “OPP vs. RB” cell for the Packers, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Jones faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 2 (the Lions). This is a great indicator for owners of Jones (and possibly backfield-mate AJ Dillon), and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

  1. Trade question
    My rb is N. Harris , C. Edmonds , Aj Dillion , M. Carter

Would you trade Dillion and dal Prescott for J. Robinson and Trevor Lawrence . Car and Goff are available to on WW to pick up if I need to drop Trevor .
I think it would upgrade my RB situation in 1/2 point ppr

    1. I’d do that deal and pray Urban Meyer is not as big a donkey as he seems like after one week.

      1. Not sure my pants could fit balls big enough to make that deal right now

        1. Made the deal let’s go boys

RW Nation Couple questions for 12 team PPR

    Squad is
    QB: Hurts
    RBS: AJones, DMont, DHarris, SMichel
WRs: THill, CeeDee, Antonio Brown, Boyd, Aiyuk, and Claypool
    TE: Everett

Would you put a $0 bid just to see what happens for Michael Carter and drop gio bernard? Also same league would you drop Everett for cook? I noticed in the snap count took Everett was on the field more but he did get out touched and targeted by Dissley so im considering making the swap.

My team feels so stacked thanks to the cheat sheet I feel that i need to start consolidating and figuring out who my rotational players are for waivers.

    1. Post By Show Me Your TDs

disreguard Cook, but would you make the move to Kmet or Trautman for everett ROS or just hold and see how the week plays out

      1. How many WR/Flex you start?
Consolidating is package Everett/Brown off their big weeks for a stud… maybe Jefferson?

Speaking of which when’s the epic Tradecast start Byron??

        1. Post By Show Me Your TDs

start 2 WRs and 2 flex, and yes cant wait for the tradecasts to start up

    2. sure, putting in a $0 bid for Carter can’t hurt!

  3. Do you think Damien Harris is worth a start this week over Deebo? Concerned that the late fumble may put him in the Belichick’s doghouse.

Also, if I can a TE question. I have Tonyan and I am prepared to stay with him for a while. Is that a smart move with – Hooper, Kmet, Njoku, Cook and Everett ll on waivers?
    thanks

    1. I’d probably play Harris , but Deebo is fine if you get nervous

  4. Post By dc8843@gmail.com

Any chance at creating. DFS cheat sheet that includes all games sun through Monday?

  5. At Flex do I take a chance on RB James Robinson vs Den this week or go with Gaskin vs Bills, Jamaal Williams @ GB , Tee Higgins @ Chi, or Mike Williams vs Dal?

    1. I’d narrow it to Jamaal, Tee, and Mike Williams and play the matchups. Difficult not to like Mike Williams this wk

  6. Am I giving up to much my Edmonds and AB for his Diggs.
    My RB’s and WR’s
Elliot, Chubb, Montgomery, Pollard, Roundtree, Lamb, Lockett, D Smith, Marvin Jones, M Callaway
Question 2: Who would you rather keep McKissic or Tony Jones Jr.
    Thanks RW

    1. I think that’s too much, you still need Edmonds

    2. Is this standard league? How many wrs/flex can you start?
Hard to disagree with the trade master but I’d lean yes depending on league set up.

      Rather have TJJ.

      1. Standard PPR…Start 2 WR’s and 1 flex..
        Thanks..

  7. What’s up RW nation! … 12-team, 0.5 PPR, 0-1:

    RBs: Kamara, Sanders, Conner
WRs: Jefferson, Sutton, OBJ, Pittman, Marquise
    TE: Andrews
    K: Butcker
    DST: Ravens

I’m being offered Bradin Cooks for Courtland Sutton. Should I pull the trigger?

    1. I’m also thinking about offering Conner and Pittman for Sermon. Would that be too much?

      1. I wouldn’t do that quite yet

    2. Yes you should

      1. Great advice as always, thanks Byron!

  8. Drop Zack Moss for Rondale Moore? Bring in Burrow for a spot start against Chicago?

    Rest of team:

    QB: Tannehill
RB: Henry, Robinson, Fournette, T. Jones, Stevenson
WR: AJ Brown, Thielen, Chase, Fuller, Hardman
    TE: Waller

    1. Yes to both

Hb – ekeler , Mixon , lat Murray , aj Dillon , rountree , hasty , jj Taylor
Wr – mclaurin , evans , robinson , ab, juedy
    Te – Goddert

Should I hold still for now or look to trade ab or evans for something (if so which one is better keeping long term )

Thanks for all your help guys

    1. Always look to get better if possible.
See if any dopes in your league value that trash Lat Murray then package him with one of those WR for upgrade.

      1. Post By John Hunsberger

Lat and Evans for Harris ?

        1. If you get Najee for those two buy yourself a lotto ticket right after ninja.

  10. Need Input,

    Larry Rountree
    David Johnson
    Christian Kirk
    Jameis

    Thanks

    1. This looks more like a ten team league. Nice son.
      I’m liking Larry here.

      1. Thanks Grimey. Started with ceedee and kyler as keepers (spun kyler for higgins and james robinson post draft) and of course trusted the magic cheat sheet.

    Trade question:
    12 team .5ppr
I have cmc, Mixon, lamb, d Johnson, Julio as main starters
Trade Mixon and Julio for Zeke and j meyers?

  12. It’s me again! Sorry for the spam, been a busy day … 12-team, 0.5 PPR, 0-1:

    QBs: Mahomes, Fields
    RBs: Kamara, Sanders, Conner
WRs: Jefferson, Sutton, OBJ, Pittman, Marquise
    TE: Andrews
    K: Butcker
    DST: Ravens

I’m being offered CEH, Mitchell and Javonte Williams for Kamara. I’m thinking this trade would solve my depth issues, don’t you guys think?

    1. Oh hell nah!

      1. Thought it through again, definitely agree with you!

      2. Thank you Frank Grimes, you are a RW King!

Trade question… I too lost Dobbins and have been scrambling for my RB2. Superflex league. I have Dak, Ridley, Thielen, Dalvin, TySon, Logan Thomas, Trev Lawrence, Fields, Mike Williams, Drake, Gainwell, Jeff Wilson, Tony Jones. Would you do this trade? Dalvin/Thielen/TySon for Mixon/Henderson/Keenan Allen.

    1. Nope. Why? Keep working them waivers like you be feeling your ghetto spread.

  14. 12 team full point ppr league
Start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex, K, DEF
    5 bench spots

    QBs: Kyler Murray, Trey Lance
RBs: Christian McCaffrey, Damien Harris, Darrell Henderson, Trey Sermon
WRs: Justin Jefferson, Keenan Allen, Cooper Kupp, Terrace Marshall, Elijah Moore
    TE: Tyler Higbee

Would you drop anyone for Tony Pollard, Kenneth Gainwell, Tony Jones Jr, or Larry Rountree or just stay put for now?

    1. In PPR I might drop Sermon for Gainwell. Other than that I think I’d stay put. You could argue dropping Elijah Moore for Pollard- but I think I’d hang onto Elijah for another week or two

      1. I actually think in PPR, I would almost certainly drop Sermon for Gainwell

        1. Thanks Byron.

Julio Jones, Robert Woods, Tee Higgins, Cortland Sutton… have you sit one. Advice?

  16. I know for sure I am starting Tee Higgins, and probably Sutton. I’d play the matchup tool for the Jones vs Woods decision
