This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Cowboys (Elliott’s team). You will see that the Cowboys’ opponent (OPP) is the Dolphins in Week 3, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Dolphins’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the COWBOYS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the DOLPHINS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Cowboys, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Zeke faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 3 (the Dolphins). This is a great indicator for owners of Elliott, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering any of the Cowboys runners in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

      Don’t know if he’s the truth. To me, Jameis and Allen are kind of the same in that they make too many mistakes, but Allen gets you bountiful rushing yards to help offset a little bit.

With the bye weeks coming if you can flex him you might want to keep him in the short term otherwise I would definitely see if you could get hornswoggle a rb or wr 1 from one of them. But before doing it I would map out the bye weeks like I suggested if you can flex him.

    Easy answer seems Dak but I can see the game being so lop sided that it actually hurts Dak. Ryan’s thrown the ball 46 and 43 times so far this season so it seems like he’s in a shootout every week.

    That is some good intel on Jacobs Robert! While I would not panic just yet as doctors will pump him full of the good stuff it is always good to be prepared! I personally made a few tough calls this week on Crowder with a few teams as he was my wr5 and I wanted to make some moves. If they are your bottom 2 then it really is a personal preference but I can tell you I will probably be looking to pick Crowder back up on a few weeks just before Sam the man comes back!

      I just went through this in a league where I was willing to overpay a little to get one of the most important handcuffs in the league. People tried to say it was too lopsided. NO it was not. I wanted my handcuff he had him I made him an offer he could not refuse. No collusion. It eventually went through after having to plead my case. I say this regarding ALL trades. unless you can prove outright collusion ALL trades she go through! 99.99999 trades will be lopsided and some a lot more than others depending upon how desperate one team is!!! So unless there is collusion going on it is what it is. Otherwise ban trading altogether!

          took the words out of my mouth, kwillee haha. FWIW i traded lamar and andrews for kelce and i’d do it again 10x. In my opinion i sold high to get a sure thing, blue chip player. And I had a great QB2 in Kyler so i was fine with it. Most of the league was fine with it. Commissioner has sole veto powers and wanted to veto it- i agree all trades should go thru unless they’re eggregious – i believe this was a good trade

      see if you can flip John Brown or Christian Kirk who have been hot for David Montgomery who’s usage is starting to pick up. You could also maybe sniff around shady mccoy or Carlos Hyde. Their owners won’t value them. Make sure Gore is not available on the waiver wire.

    12 team full PPR. Is Duke worth dropping for an Alexander Mattison stash, or maybe even Jaylen Samuels? Starting lineups are QB, WR, RB, flex, flex, flex. Current RBs are Chubb, Mixon, Duke, Penny, and Sanders. I have a hard time seeing Cook holding up with as much as they’re running him.

      Only for Samuels if Conner doesn’t go. Duke will see better days. You can think about the Mattison deal, but I’d prefer to drop a backup QB or god forbid backup TE if you have one.

    In a 10 team standard I have to add a TE and have to either drop Curtis Samuel or Kristen Kirk. Not sure who to let go.
    Our league also adds an extra 2 points for 40yard + touchdowns.

    First though would be to drop Samuel due to Cams issues and the way Kylar Murray slings it but I’m not sure.

      Now that Cam is hurt, maybe Samuel if you HAVE to drop one of those guys. IF you have a backup QB, drop him. Always drop backup QBs over guys like this, especially in 10 team leagues.

      You don’t need to worry about “moving forward” with any of those guys – you are now officially streaming TEs. Look at this week’s matchups and it’s clear that even on small volume, Witten is your best option. Don’t worry about also having Zeke, they both can score this week. Worry next week about who to pick up then.
