RosterWatch Week 5 Matchup Tool Now Available
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2020 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Chiefs (CEH’s team). You will see that the Chiefs’ opponent (OPP) is the Raiders in Week 5, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Raiders’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
They are not the rankings for the CHIEFS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the RAIDERS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Raiders, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Edwards-Helaire faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 5 (the Raiders). This is a great indicator for owners of CEH, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research.
“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

.5 ppr
Qb- Big Ben
RB – Taylor , gibson , moss
Wr – Golladay , Evans , Parker , Green , Hardman , Jefferson (picked up last week)
Te – hurst
I keep getting offers for KG or Evans which one would you do for : Damien Harris and scary terry or should I try to trade one straight up for a James Robinson if I can
I would not do that Damien Harris/McLauren trade. Would rather do the Robinson trade, but I’d try to get a little more.
So I traded for Rodgers last week cuz I wasn’t completely comfortable with Cam Newton. Then Newton got Covid and I need a QB this week. Would you drop Newton, Zack Moss or Cam Akers to make room for a third QB for 1 week?
Oof. Anyone else you can drop? Maybe like a kicker or backup TE? And who’s on the waiver wire?
Alright I can add a qb without dropping any of those. Would you drop Akers or Moss for D. Johnson or J Jackson off waivers? Or is it still too early to let go of those guys?
12 team, 0.5 PPR, 2-2
QB: Mahomes
RBs: Kamara, Gibson, RoJo, Fournette, Swift, Dobbins
WRs: DHop, Hollywood, Laviska
TE: Streaming
Being offered CEH and Woods for DHop, Gibson and Swift. Should I do it?
Looking at your WRs,I’d rather keep DHop.
How about Hunt and CeeDee for Kamara?
I’d rather keep Kamara. Are those the only WRs on your roster? How many of these players can you start?
These are my only WRs indeed. I had Sutton too. I can start 2 RBs, 2 WRs and 1 FLEX.
I’m trying to trade 2 of my players for a better RB/WR. Who would you recomend?
Oof. Going to be tough considering you don’t have too many options.
Any 2 for 1 deals are going to leave you super thin at either position so thinking on it further,it does make sense to do the liquidation trade in order to get more players as much as I’d want to do a 2 for 1 trade.
Does this league has super thin benches? Anyone on the waiver wire?
J. Allen, J. Taylor, A. Gibson, T. McClaren, W.Fuller, G Kittle, Gaskin, Hollywood, with Cee Dee, Z. Moss, C Godwin, B. Aiyuk on bench, and CMac on IR. Would you trade Gibson, Taylor and Fuller for Zeek and K. Allen? I’m 4-0. 12 man PPR with 2 flex. Thanks
Take Gibson out of the deal and I’d do it. Adding Gibson in that deal is too much.
Wow…you think Zeek and K Allen have equal value to J. Taylor and W. Fuller??? No way dude is gonna take that deal….guess I’m sticking
No,I don’t think they are equal in value,I just think you’d be trading away too much adding in Gibson, that’s all.
I mean you can do it,but honestly I’d hold on to Gibson if you can.
Do you think he would take another player besides Gibson?
Gaskin would be the only other dude he might take. Honestly I kinda want to move Gibson, I have the best playmaker on the team with McClaren, and have seen McKissic snag time in key situations…not to mention the potential of a Barber TD swindle near the goal line….not a huge fan of starting RBs and WRs from the same team weekly either. And what’s not to like about starting Zeek and McCaffery every week….maybe I’m giving up a little much, but I’m not sold on Gibson, sharing time in a weak offense that will be throwing a lot in the second half of games. But thanks to RW I’m undefeated and feeling pretty stacked. Thanks guys!!
On second thought, yeah that deal is fine. I can’t say I hate it.
I’d still like to keep Gibson though as his stock is rising and you could use the depth, but you would have CMC and Zeke locked in with a nice stable of WRs.
Lol…I thought you might come around….thanks brotha!
Sometimes you have to let the thought slow bake lol.
.5 ppr start 2 rb 2 wrs and a flex
Qb- Big Ben
RB – Taylor , gibson , moss
Wr – Golladay , Evans , Parker , Green , Hardman , Jefferson (picked up last week)
Te – hurst
I would give up JT and get eckler , Kelly and Edmonds ? Thoughts ?
I wouldn’t do that trade. I would try to package Gibson and one of your best WRs for a stud RB.
Is the link to the week 5 match up tool working? I’m not finding it…
NVM…..
Would you accept this trade offer
C McCaffrey, Julio and T. Higgins for
Mixon, M Evans and D Parker
My current team is
J Burrow, D Jones
M Sanders, J Mixon, Z Moss, J Taylor A Mattison
M Evans, DJ Moore, D Parker A Brown
Jonnu Smith, D Godert, Greg Olsen
Team name: Grogan’s Heroes. Need to start 2 RBs : Standard scoring, M. Gordon, J. Mixon, R. Jones, J. McKinnon
Thoughts on sending David Johnson and Will Fuller and getting Dalvin Cook in return? Feel like it might be too much. I also have Helaire, Carson and RoJo at RB and Julio, JuJu and Jefferson at WR. I am considering Johnson and Jefferson or even Fuller and RoJo but not sure if he’d take that. His QB is Watson so he may like that Houston connection.
Hey, where’s week 6 matchup tool?
