RosterWatch Week 6 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 3 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2022 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you roster Cardinals TE Zach Ertz, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Cardinals (Ertz’s team). You will see that the Cardinals’ opponent (OPP) is the Seattle Seahakws in Week 6, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the SEAHAWKS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the CARDINALS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the SEAHAWKS). In the “OPP vs. TEs” cell for the Cardinals, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Ertz faces our best possible matchup for opposing TEs in Week 6 (the Seahawks). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Ertz, and is a positive sign for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.

1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).

    Trade Question(start 3 wrs 2 rbs and flex ) :
Current Rbs – Aaron Jones , Pierce , Zeke , Allegire
Current WRs – devante Adams , Debo , Cooper , Devonta smith , Pickens , wandale josh Palmer and Zay Jones

Would you trade : Jones , Cooper and Pickens to get CMC he needs wrs and wants a replacement (or what would you counter with )

    1. Post By John Hunsberger

      Cmc and McKenzie **

      1. Post By Byron Lambert

I would try something like Pierce + Devonta Smith for CMC. You don’t need McKenzie back in the deal. If that doesn’t work I’d also consider Zeke + Cooper. I think Jones + Cooper is too much for CMC. You want to try to own AJones and CMC.

  2. Someone Dropped WR CKirk!
    10 team PPR 3-2, Play 1QB 3WR 2RB 1Flex 1TE No IR spots
    Me:
QB: Geno Smith (stream) Dak Prescott (picked up to Hold on bench)
WR: Kupp, Marq Brown (Az), DLondon, GPickens
RB: DSwift, Fournette, BHall JWilliams (DET) , DMontgomery
TE: THill (stream) Pitts(holding with hope he pans out )

To get him of Waiver, I would have to drop a player.
Do I drop GPickens, DLondon or Prescott?

    1. or drop Jamal Williams ?

    2. I’d drop dak for now

A couple 1 PPR questions around C Samuel as WR3:

    1) I have Higgins and Olave as a 3rd WR, would you play C Samuel over them due to their Q status?

    2) I have JuJu, K. Allen, and London in another league, I’m thinking JuJu or London over C Samuel pending good news on Allen

    1. 1. That is probably the safe move as neither bass practiced this week

      1. Also it looks like allen will probably be available

  4. In a 12 team Ppr. Start 2RB, 3WR, 2 Flex(not super flex)

RB’s A Jones, Sanders, CEH, Hunt, Boone, Walker, Pacheco.

I was thinking of packaging Boone and CEH to trade for Breece Hall, or Boone and Sanders if he does not go for it. He has M Gordon so thought it might make Boone interesting.

Do you think this would be a good idea?

  5. It’s fine, I’m just wary of the jets offense in comparison to Philly and Kc.

    Hey Rosterwatch.

    0.5 PPR
Got a hospital on my bench.
Do you start C Samuel at Flex tonight or wait for Conner on Sunday?
If he doesn’t go I’m left with GEverett.
I need Conners points against SEA this week but I can’t afford a zero

    L Thomas out tonight

    Thanks

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Conner just ruled out. Start CS.

  7. 12 team .5 ppr
Need to drop one to pick up a QB.

Who do I drop out of this group:
    K Herbert
    J Warren
    M Carter
    B Robinson
    R White

Saquan and J Wilson are my other RBs

    Thanks for your input.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Warren or Herbert, leaning Warren as a drop

  8. Still just monitoring practice reports, but…
    10-team, .5PPR.

    Hurst or Pitts at TE?

Pitts practicing again Thursday, so signs pointing to him starting. Hurst still nursing groin injury, but he’s been playing on it for weeks now.

Currently leaning Hurst, especially if Tee Higgins can’t go.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Hurst is the higher floor (can’t believe we are saying that) but if Pitts plays he still has the mega upside.

  9. Sitting at 3-2 and I have :

    QB:Lamar
    WR:Davante, Waddle, Metcalf
    TE: Andrews
RB: Mixon, Jeff Wilson, K. Walker, Pollard, James Robinson

I was going to offer a trade for Kupp. Would it make sense to pair any of my receivers with a RB for him? I like having depth but I’m always down to shake things up a bit.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Walker is a hot name, if you want Kupp it will likely take him plus Davante.

  10. PPR 10 team 3-2

I have TE Pitt and holding on to him
Picked up THill to stream at TE this week
Doesn’t look like I need a hail mary to win this week…
Should I pick up free agents : Hurst Irv Smith Tonyan or Engram today
or Waver players available this Saturday Everett or Friermuth to play instead?

DO I play Pitts if he goes above all the above?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

It would be hard to go away from Hill, but you are right his floor is lower. I’d stick with him, but if you want to try Hurst, we wont talk you out fo it

  11. Defense points count:
    Stream which Def this week?
Colts Vikings Ravens Patriots Commanders Jaguars ?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

The patriots are the best actual DST there. Wouldnt blame you for picking Commanders

  12. .5 ppr

Stash Jameson Williams or Elijah Mitchell ?

    Pretty set at all levels

    QB: Kyler
    WR: AJ Brown
    WR: Hollywood
    RB: Dalvin Cook
    RB: Aaron Jones
    TE: Engram
    W/R: Lenny

    Bench
    AJ Dillon
    Mattison
    Mike Williams
    Courtland Sutton
    Breece Hall
    Jameson Williams
    Eno Benjamin

  13. Post By Byron Lambert

I’m stashing Mitchell. I feel like it’s harder to find top tier RB help than it is to find WRs. Also, Amon-Ra St. Brown , Swift and Reynolds are going to vye for targets in Detroit. Mitchell has less competition for touches.

    1. Thank you !
