RosterWatch Week 7 Matchup Tool Now Available

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Bills QB Josh Allen, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Bills (Allen’s team). You will see that the Bills’ opponent (OPP) is the Dolphins in Week 7, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Dolphins’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Bills, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the DOLPHINS). In the “OPP vs. QBs” cell for the Bills, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Allen faces our best possible matchup for opposing QBs in Week 7 (the DOLPHINS). This is a great indicator for owners of Allen and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup rankings can shift through the week with line and O/U movements as well as injury news.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups

    We start 3 wrs (.5 pt ppr) in my league and with byes and an injury to Christian Kirk I need to pick up a receiver to fill my third spot. Good options on the waiver wire with Pettis, Slayton, Beasley, Sanu, etc.

    Was probably going to pick up Pettis, but more importantly who should I drop between Gore and Ronald Jones? I was thinking Gore since Singletary is back and I think will eventually take over that backfield

    Would you drop Darrell Henderson or Malcolm Brown to add Benny Snell? I do not own Gurley, was able to snag both, but am kinda feeling like I would be more comfortable employing my own handcuff rather than someone else’s. The Gurley owner is impossible to trade with, as well.

    Just saw the QB rankings and I have Goff and Josh Allen. You guys have Goff a spot ahead of Allen. Are you considering them a coin-flip, or would you strongly advise to go with Goff? I’m looking for the higher ceiling player and I’m leaning Allen with his rushing potential and coming off the bye week. HELP!

      You need to do the deal with the guy that can also send you another solid flex back. You need to do a 3:2— Give up Ingram + Boyd + Brown/Crowder/Samuel for Hopkins / Hill + a flex that is clearly better than one of those WR.

      Hopkins will help you, but you are think at flex once you ship Ingram out.

    Hey guys, I need some advise on my lineup. I’m 4-2 and on a 4 game winning streak. 1 PT PPR and we start 2 RB, 3WR, Flex and TE. I got a plethora of WR’s, but I’m looking to deal some out. Problem is that my league members are tight asses when it comes to even considering trades, but i’m gonna push them. I’m a bit worried about Lockett, as he only gets a few targets each game and Wilson keeps spreading the ball out. If you advise trading Lockett, who should I package him with to get a monster player? I’m thin at TE and i’m fine streaming QB’s. Who should I trade / target? Thanks!

    Players I have by position….

    WR – Lockett, Edleman, Sutton, Crowder, M Brown, Landry, Sanu.

    RB – McCaffrey, Fournette, Mixon.

      a rob is on the come up, but i think he actually does a bit better with daniel under center. he does have a much better schedule than golladay coming up though. it’s kind of a coin flip for me. golladay will probably be more consistent.

    I have Jimmy G and Minshew dropped Baker and have highest points in my 12 team league bc of you’s but am 2-4. Lost by two points twice and play high point team every week. QB spot killing me every week including Minshew last week. Do I keep both, Minshew this week Jimmy G V. AZ twice in next three weeks? Or drop one now for Mattison? Not a Cook owner?

      i don’t think it’s imperative you grab mattison if you’re not a cook owner. i would play the matchups with those qbs, unless darnold is available, then i could drop either.

    It’s probably fair but you’re truly hoping he gets traded. They seem to hate playing him. Now that DJ is “healthy” you’re probably just holding onto Edmonds as a voodoo doll, anyway. I really don’t want to own Drake, but must admit he has a slightly better path to being fantasy relevant than Edmonds.
