Marc Trestman, Chicago Bears
-DT Henry Melton has been in the building every day, spoke with him on Wednesday
-Says this will be a defensive-oriented draft for the Bears
-Need to stop the run first on defense, and rush the passer with four guys
Ken Whisenhunt, Tennessee Titans
-Offensive line is young at the center and two guard positions
-Pretty happy with the current offensive and defensive lines, of course always looking to add if possible
-Not sure about how much gas is left in RB Chris Johnson’s tank, but made note he was very durable and hasn’t missed games
-Interested to see how he can implement Locker’s athleticism, but needs to get on the field with him first
-It’s up to Shonn Greene to earn more time, likes his tape from last season
Doug Marrone, Buffalo Bills
-RB CJ Spiller was never at 100 percent in 2013
-QB EJ Manuel didn’t practice much last season at all
-Happy with the impact rookie WRs Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin had on offense
-Transition from College to Pros was easier for him than Pros to College
Mike Smith, Atlanta Falcons
-Improving the rushing attack is a huge priority in offseason after finishing 32nd in the league in rushing
-Says they only got to see the real Steven Jackson at the very end of the season
-Levine Toilolo (TE) can play the Y and the F, has a good catch radius but impossible to replace Tony Gonzalez
-CB Desmond Trufant had a good rookie year, played almost 100 percent of snaps- he’s physical and smart
-CB Robert Allford had an outstanding 2nd half of the season
-WR Roddy White only got close to 100 percent the final 2 games, and was close to his normal level of play
-WR Julio Jones was having monster season for the ages prior to 2013 injury
-Roddy and Julio were working Monday with the team’s Athletic Performance Staff
-Says Clemson QB Tajh Boyd was quickest to pick up the pro-style offense at the Senior Bowl (vs Logan Thomas, Stephen Morris – not saying much)
Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions
-Really likes RB Joique Bell
-Need to take a strong look at a WR2/3
-Says QB Matt Stafford is hungry, eager, smart, and has all the physical tools (we wonder if maybe he’ll get a private QB coach to fix his garbage fundamentals?)
Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco 49ers
-Frank Gore had an “A++ season”
-Has high expectations for Tank Carradine, says he had a procedure after the season to remove scar tissue from his surgically repaired knee, says he couldn’t straighten his leg all the way before- now he can straighten his leg all the way- and looks like a completely different guy- team is expecting a big Year 2
-Colin Kaepernick was at the facility the day after the playoff loss (sounds like something Russell Wilson would do to us.)
-Harbaugh says Kaepernick is already so good that he doesn’t have much room for improvement, and that he’s a very hard worker
John Fox, Denver Broncos
-Loved DE Quanterus Smith’s tape coming of college, and that he’s having a good offseason in the weight room
-Believes RB Ronnie Hillman is a tremendous talent (say what?!?!), and that his development has been hindered by the communication required at the line of scrimmage in the Manning offense
-Very indifferent about WR Andre Caldwell as a player
Lovie Smith, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-Not enough production on offense
-Impressed with QB Mike Glennon’s ability to handle the situation as a rookie
-Needs better production out of the offensive line for the money they have invested in the unit
-Luke warm about WR Mike Williams (Gee, we wonder why?)
-Doug Martin can carry the load, need plenty of backs though
Dennis Allen, Oakland Raiders
-Have to make sound decisions with the big cap room
-Weighing Pryor’s development vs the need to move forward
