The Fantasy Fallout: Coming Into Week 10
Yesterday was one of the most exciting group of games I’ve watched this season, fantasy-wise. Outside of the debacle in Miami, teams went tit for tat all afternoon, and I loved it. Here are a few of my thoughts on Sunday’s matchups:
-WR Allen Hurns seems to show up right when you aren’t expecting him to. Before yesterday’s eruption, Hurns hadn’t gone over 50 yards or scored in four straight games. He’s a risky but high-upside WR4 as long as Shorts and Robinson are healthy.
-RB/WR Denard Robinson is in no danger of losing carries to anyone else. A healthy Gerhart came in on a few passing downs, but Robinson ended up with 19 touches.
-RB Jeremy Hill looks like the complete package, proving effective between the tackles and in the passing game. It doesn’t look like Bernard will be ready for Thursday night’s matchup either, so Hill’s owners should be elated.
-WR Mohamed Sanu didn’t see the decline we thought we might witness when A.J. Green returned to action. He’ll be working with a few less targets each week, but he’s a solid WR2.
-How long will the Browns backfield have to wallow in mediocrity until the coaching staff decides to put Crowell in the game? Tate had 3 yds on 10 carries and West had 48 yds on 15 in an underwhelming performance. Regardless, it appears that West has overtaken Tate as the lead back in Cleveland.
-Don’t drop Crowell unless you absolutely have to. The Browns staff can’t be as inept with their personnel as it seems.
-You have approximately two more weeks until any current Browns receiver that isn’t Josh Gordon becomes a risky flex play at best. As if they’re anything more than that, now.
– RB Bobby Rainey had a great day for fantasy owners on Sunday, but you have to think that with Charles Sims being activated next week, and Doug Martin slated to get at least some action when he gets healthy, it might be prudent to move Rainey while his value is soaring.
-WR Mike Evans has elevated to 1A status in the TB receiving corps. I actually feel safer starting him than guys like Michael Floyd and Keenan Allen on a weekly basis. Crazy right?
-Well, so much for Brandon Weeden being a serviceable replacement for Romo in fantasy, much less real life. If Romo isn’t playing this week, don’t bother with Cowboys QBs. Thankfully, he seems on pace to return.
-The good news about the Cardinals offense is that any skill player can go off at any time. The bad news is that there are a plethora of talented skill players on the Cardinals offense, and Bruce Arians doesn’t discriminate in his play calling.
-QB Mark Sanchez didn’t look half bad in Chip Kelly’s offense. He’ll still throw picks by the handful, but he’ll also get the ball to Philly’s studs.
–Chris Polk’s emergence is bad news for Darren Sproles’ owners. If you can get something for Sproles in trade now, it’s time to ship him.
-WR Jordan Matthews is moving up in the world. He could garner consistent WR3 status before long.
-WR Riley Cooper is moving in the opposite direction.
-Atleast it’s not his hamstring. Arian Foster has a groin injury, but those things can linger too. Alfred Blue needs to be on your roster if you’re a Foster owner. You probably knew that already though.
-Mike Vick was serviceable against the Chiefs, avoiding turnovers and incompletions. If he can add in his feet to that equation, Vick could shape into a starter in fantasy.
–Percy Harvin is going to lead the Jets receivers in receptions from here on out. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing for Eric Decker. Added attention to Harvin will free him up a bit.
–Travis Kelce was one freak play away from a 2 TD super-monster yesterday. He is panning out as KC’s most dependable receiver.
–Branden Oliver is quickly running out of favor in San Diego. Ryan Mathews might actually be a boon to his value. I think Oliver’s natural role is as a compliment back.
–Philip Rivers had his worst game of the year yesterday, but he’s got a short memory. Don’t be scared to start him coming out of week 10.
-Rivers owners would do well to pick up Ryan Tannehill in his stead next week. Tannehill has been a top 10 QB over the first half of the season.
-If Lamar Miller can’t go next week I like rookie Damian Williams to lead the backfield in Miami.
–Charles Clay is back to business. He’s healthy and worth starting across the board.
-RG3 was no worse for the wear coming out of his loss to Minnesota. His role as QB in Washington is safe, until he gets hurt again.
-Buy low on Pierre Garcon. He’s always been a favorite target of RG3’s, and I expect that to be the case more often than not in future games.
-It’s time to get Kyle Rudolph back onto your roster. Chase Ford has been targeted heavily in his absence.
–Matt Asiata severely limits the upside of Jerrick McKinnon. Both are slightly risky RB3 material for now.
-The Rams won a close game with Tre Mason as lead back. I think they’ll carry that trend into their next game.
–Benny Cunningham is shaping up as a nice PPR flex play.
-Kaepernick was right when he said he had several number one receivers. Any one of the combo of Crabtree, Johnson, Lloyd, and Boldin could lead the 49ers in receiving every week.
-Rookie Jonas Gray led the Patriot backfield in carries against the Broncos, but Vereen is the back I’d rather own. That being said, Gray should be owned in 12 team or more leagues.
-TE Mychal Rivera has been tearing it up over the last two weeks. He’s worth a start for owners with bye week issues next week.
-Big Ben is playing out of his mind right now. The potent receiving combo of Brown, Bryant, and Wheaton makes him a QB1 consideration every week.
-WR Martavis Bryant is already a WR 2 in my book.
-If you haven’t already picked up Lorenzo Taliaferro, you need to go ahead and do so. He’s nothing special talent wise, but none of Baltimore’s backs are.

Trade? I give up M. Bryant and Lacy, I get Lynch? My other RBs are Jennings(out) Bradshaw(bye) and F. Jackson(out) for week 10. Standard league. I also hope to pick up a an Rb from the waiver wire to fill in for this week.
My other WR are Jones, Jeffrey and Benjamin and Percy at Flex
That would be a hard trade for me to make. Lynch has one of the toughest schedules to finish out the year.
Where do you see Torrey Smith this weekend at Tennessee and then for the rest of the year?
Also where do you see Matt Ryan for the rest of the year?
Thanks RosterWatch!
It’s hard to tell with Smith. He’s feast or famine generally, and I’d rather have a guy who I know I can count on down the stretch. I think Ryan is going to have a great second half as his schedule is cupcake for the remainder of the season.
Flex start standard league Tre Mason, Torrey Smith, Andre Holmes, or Kendall Wright. Need one. Thanks
Who should i start Decker or Steve Smith
