Top 10 Thoughts: Senior Bowl Practice Day 1
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com
As always, we’ve made our annual pilgrimmage to Mobile, Alabama for the NFL’s premier offseason event. The Reese’s Senior Bowl is a convention of all NFL scouts and decisions makers that marks the beginning of the NFL offseason calendar, and kicks off the Draft Season.
After attending the National Scouting Weigh-In, and both the North and South squad practices on Tuesday- here are our Top 10 Thoughts from Day 1:
10. Quinten Rollins, CB Miami (OH)– remember the name RosterWatch Nation. His draft stock will explode. Soon.
9. Buckeyes WR Devin Smith is NOT a one-trick pony. His 9-route is epic, but his intermediate separations skills are electric, too.
8. Norfolk St., OLB Lynden Trail is an absolute monster edge threat at 6’7″. He told us he transferred from Florida to NSU upon Will Muschamp’s arrival in Gainesville.
7. The Weigh-In-Warriors, the guys who looked most impressive in their underwear for official measurements were- LB Jeff Luc, LB Kikaha Hau’oli, DE Owa Odighizuwa, RB Tyler Varga, DE Za’Darius Smith, DT Danny Shelton, OT Donovan Smith, CB Josh Shaw , and DT Grady Jarrett.
6. It’s going to be Ameer Abdullah (NEB) vs. David Johnson (N. Iowa) battling it out to be the top running backs in Mobile.
5. From what Ken Whisenhunt told us, we strongly believe he isn’t sold on either Zach Mettenberger or Bishop Sankey, at this point.
4. Whisenhunt called Mariota late Monday night asking him to come to Mobile. We’re told Mariota very politely declined, and is still without an agent
3. A candidate for a big rise through the week is Ole Miss safety Cody Prewitt. It’s only a matter of time before his flashes result in big plays.
2. Tyler Lockett is going to be the NFL’s next slot machine. He might replace Randall Cobb in Green Bay…..
1. Phillip Dorsett = Brandin Cooks 2.0. Book it.
