Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 12

Trashman HeaderTrashman’s Fantasy Fallout going into Week 12

All these new injuries are getting old. Gotta roll with the punches though. Here’s the fallout going into Week 12…

Buccaneers vs Dolphins

  • Ryan Fitzpatrick hates Cameron Brate, or at least his target distribution would have you believe that. As long as Fitz is under center, Brate can’t be counted on in fantasy.

  • Doug Martin is getting plenty of carries but can’t do much with them. He’s a low ceiling RB2 option in fantasy.

  • Don’t be deceived by Damien Williams‘ “big” day against the Bucs. 69 of his 78 yards came in one play, and he was out-snapped 38 to 27 by Kenyan Drake. That being said, Drake was of little to no use on Sunday. In the likelihood that the Dolphins fall behind the Patriots this week, which is very likely, Williams makes for the more intriguing play as the predominant pass-catching back in Miami.

  • QB Matt Moore has a strong connection with Kenny Stills, making Stills a reasonable start against the Patriots this week should Moore be under center due to Jay Cutler being in concussion protocol.

Cardinals vs Texans

  • TE Ricky Seals-Jones had only one NFL offensive snap prior to his 2 TD breakout on Sunday. It’s hard to say if he’s someone to keep an eye on, as he was a 5-star recruit out of high school but underperformed in college and had an abysmal Combine showing. He can be left on wires this week as a speculative play with the Jags up next.

  • D’Onta Foreman left it all on the field Sunday as he tore his achilles on a 34 yard TD scamper, his 2nd of the day. His rookie season is effectively over, making Alfred Blue to backup to Lamar Miller.

  • Bruce Ellington stayed relatively hot Sunday with 61 yards on 6 catches. His usefulness with be relegated to PPR leagues this week when the Texans face the ball-hawking Ravens.

Chiefs vs Giants

  • In the shocker of the week, Alex Smith came out of a bye to throw 2 INTs and no TDs in an overtime loss the hapless Giants. Windy weather could have had much to do with it, as Smith’s arm strength has never been his well, strength, but his completion percentage has dropped significantly over the 2nd half of the season.

  • Hunt continues to “struggle”, but at least he got 20+ touches in this game in comparison to the 13 he had the week before the bye.

  • Sterling Shepard‘s surprising absence in this one didn’t exactly yield the payday for Evan Engram that everyone expected, though Engram did tie for the lead in targets(6). His 1 catch for 9 yards is an outlier, and you should continue to use him confidently.

  • Shepard is still limited and looks iffy for Thanksgiving night against Washinton. Should he sit, it may mean more action for rookie Travis Rudolph, who received a team lead tying 6 targets on Sunday.

Jaguars vs Browns

  • Leonard Fournette isn’t healthy, but he came out on the other side of a 28 carry day no worse for the wear. You have to keep riding him and hope that the wheels don’t fall off.

  • Dede Westbrook came well short of the 200 yards he predicted before Week 11, but a 6 target, 38 yard day wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened. He played a few snaps less than Keelan Cole, but Westbrook makes for a high-upside flyer this week with Marqise Lee likely to get the Patrick Peterson treatment in Arizona.

  • Corey Coleman stepped right back in after a 7 week absence to lead the Browns in targets(6) and receiving(80 yards). We’ll have to reserve a little excitement until Josh Gordon joins the team again, but Coleman needs to be owned and started for the time being.

Lions vs Bears

  • Golden Tate‘s 4-game streak of 85+ yard games ended against the respectable Bears secondary on Sunday, as he had arguably the worst day of any starting Lions WR. He actually stands the best chance of the lot this week to make a fantasy dent when the Lions face the Vikings on Thanksgiving.

  • Tarik Cohen showed his first signs of life in weeks on Sunday with 13 touches and a TD on 31 snaps. He makes for a shaky but reasonable play against the Eagles this week, as the Bears are likely to be playing from behind most of the game.

  • TE Adam Sheehan continues to make plays for the Bears, who have few playmakers besides Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. Sheehan makes for a decent streaming option this week.

Rams vs Vikings

  • A 1-score game like this was due for the Rams, who have been playing above their heads all season. Surprisingly, most of their usual suspects had decent fantasy outputs despite the low scoring day. It’s a testament to their ability to get multiple players involved early. They’ll all be worth starting in what should be a shootout with the Saints this week.

  • Jerick McKinnon‘s upside is capped by the Vikings preferring to use the 230lb Latavius Murray on the goal line. Still, he’s getting enough snaps and enough passes to maintain standalone value.

  • Stefon Diggs is the “no.1” in Minnesota, so he gets defenses’ best corners. He faced Trumaine Johnson in this one, and he’s likely to face Darius Slay this Thanksgiving. Adam Thielen will continue to feast on the leftovers.

Ravens vs Packers

  • We suspected that Danny Woodhead would come in and sap all of Buck Allen‘s value. Allen was indeed useless, but Woodhead wasn’t necessarily the culprit. Alex Collins got 7 targets on the day to lead the team, one more than Woodhead. Allen can be dropped, while Woodhead needs to be owned in PPR formats.

  • Jamaal Williams managed only 57 yards on 18 carries with a 3.2 YPC average on Sunday. He’s got little burst should continue to get a lot of run, as QB Brett Hundley can’t keep the ball out of defenders’ hands.

  • The only player Hundley targets more than opposing corners is Davante Adams, who is putting up monster numbers despite Hundley’s inefficiency. He’s kind of matchup proof in roundabout way.

Redskins vs Saints

  • It’s a sad season ending injury for Chris Thompson, who got rolled up and broke his fibula on Sunday. Samaje Perine filled in admirably and came away with a 24 touch, 1 TD day on which he had a respectable 5.1 YPC. He’s a must add in all formats. Byron Marshall is not the pass-catching option in Washington and deserves a look in deeper formats.

  • Josh Doctson had his best day as a Redskin on Sunday, with 81 yards on 4 catches. With no Chris Thompson around, Cousins will need to target him. He’ll have a juicy matchup with the Giants on Thanksgiving.

  • Mark Ingram is a RB1, even with Alvin Kamara taking significant snaps. The Saints are putting up enough offense to get almost everyone ample touches.

  • Don’t go chasing Coby Fleener‘s big day though. He’s been virtually useless since week 1 until now.

Bills vs Chargers

  • I don’t know if Nate Peterman comes back mentally from a performance like his 5 INT day against the Chargers. He shouldn’t have been in there anyway, as Tyrod Taylor has been relatively good, aside from his week 10 start. We can safely  assume that Taylor will be under center in week 12 and beyond this season.

  • Zay Jones had his “best” game of the season, 68 yards on 4 catches, with Jordan Matthews sitting and Kelvin Benjamin going down to injury. Benjamin avoid serious injury but will miss time. Matthews should return this week, so there’s no reason to run and pick up Jones.

  • Travaris Cadet had 6 catches on Sunday. The yardage wasn’t indicative of a great day, but with all their banged up pass-catchers, Cadet could come into usefulness in PPR formats this week.

  • I’ve been saying it for weeks, but Austin Ekeler needs to be owned and started in all formats. He’s grown into an integral part of the Chargers offense.

  • Mike Williams had only 35 yards on the day, but he garnered 8 targets, 2nd behind Keenan Allen. He should be owned in deeper formats, as he works his way to relevancy.

Bengals vs Broncos

  • Andy Dalton had a eyebrow raisingly good day against the Broncos. He was really just efficient, as he only threw for 154 yards all day. 3 of his 15 completions just happened to be TDs. He’s had a down year, but Dalton will be a solid option against the Browns this week.

  • Devontae Booker continues to eat up more and more of the backfield action in Denver. C.J. Anderson saved his day with a TD, but Booker was the more effective back and got 1 more carry. Booker needs to be owned in all formats in what is all but a lost season for the Broncos.

Patriots vs Raiders

  • Danny Amendola had a productive day in PPR formats with Chris Hogan sidelined with 66 yards on 8 receptions. Now healthy, at least by his standards, Amendola is worth a start if Hogan sits this week.

  • The Raiders refused to acclimate themselves to the high altitude in Mexico City, and it showed in their pitiful performance against the Patriots. They get the now human Broncos this week. The Broncos aren’t the formidable force we’re used to seeing, but this shouldn’t be a high-scoring game. I’m staying away from Raiders skill players if I can.

Eagles vs Cowboys

  • Last week I said that LT Tyron Smith was a bigger loss than Ezekiel Elliott, and that truth is coming to light. Dak Prescott is getting no room to breathe, and I’m wary of starting against the Chargers on the short week.

  • The Eagles have a 3-headed monster in LaGarrette Blount, Jay Ajayi, and Corey Clement. It will be difficult to predict their usage from week to week, but one thing for certain: Corey Clement should be owned in most formats. The Eagles can’t keep him off the field.

  • Zach Ertz hasn’t been very involved in the Eagles offense since injuring his hamstring a couple week ago. He may still not be fully healthy. That being said, he’s been too good all season to sit him if he starts against the Bears.

1.Drop Mckissic and Rex for Mike Davis and Corey Clement?

    2. Wondering why you guys haven’t said much about Keenan Allen’s monster? Obviously don’t expect that kind of production every week and was prolly due in part to peterman throwing 5 pics but is he back to the WR2 we drafted him as? or should I try and sell high on him? He’s currently my WR3 behind evans and baldwin in a standard league.

    1. I would not drop them for those guys. Also, they have been talking up Allen schedule for a while now. I wouldnt be shocked if they talk more about him on the podcast.

Dak vs LAC or Dalton vs Cle?

    1. Good question — Dak has been killing me the last two weeks — Is Dalton a better play — also would you take Rivers over both Dalton & Dak. thanks

    2. Post By woo.jonathanwoo

Given recent movements, I’d have to say Dalton is the stronger player. Dak has been abysmal without Tyron Smith.

    3. I agree with woo. Its hard to trust Dak right now.

I have J. Schuster, D. Bryant, A. Green as my Receivers. I need to select 2.

    What are your thoughts?

    1. Post By woo.jonathanwoo

      Green and Dez.

    2. Agreed play those studs

  5. What level do you see Chris Hogan performing in a .5 PPR when he returns?

    1. I would expect him to go right back to the same role he was in before he got hurt.

ROSTERWATCH BEST SERVICE GOING! Trashman, going to roll with your pick–standard league, Austin Ekeler, Corey Davis or Cooper Kupp for flex position? Turning Trash into Gold! Thanks.

    1. I like Davis out of that group

      1. Post By woo.jonathanwoo

Standard scoring, I think I like Ekeler. The Chargers have been pretty determined to get him the ball in different scenarios, and his snap counts have been steadily increasing over the past 3-4 weeks. I like his chances to score that TD more than Davis or Kupp.

  7. Hi Guys,

I have a couple of questions. I need to start one of these WR: Diggs, Crabtree, or JuJu?
Flex: Jordan Howard, Greg Olsen, Diggs, Demarco Murray, JuJu, or Latavius Murray?

    1. Sorry, forgot to tell you it is a 1/2 point PPR.

      1. Post By woo.jonathanwoo

I think it’s Diggs and Murray. Murray has the juiciest matchup out of your flex options, just still be wary of the volume split with Henry. I would normally like Howard out of that flex bunch, but he’s got a really tough matchup.

I think it’s personal preference between Diggs and Crabtree for that WR spot.

  8. Post By rbrusuelas@consolidated.net

I’m looking forward to the waiver watch tool, but in the interim, would dropping Mixon for Perine or Lat Murray be a good play? Same question, dropping Kelvin Benjamin for Doctson or Corey Coleman be a good move? Thanks!

    1. Post By woo.jonathanwoo

For me, I don’t think Mixon is droppable, but if you can get Perine via a different avenue, that is compelling.

Doctson is set for a big game, methinks. I think it’s doable to grab Doctson, but if you can swing another body, that’d be preferable. I doubt you’ll be able to wait until later in the week to see what Benjamin’s status is.

    Need to start three:
    Michael Thomas
    Dez Bryant
    Jarvis Landry
    Devin Funchess
    Desean Jackson
    Jamison Crowder
I have started Dez the past three week and I am really starting to regret it

      Standard or PPR?

If you’re sour on Dez, you have good options.

          Thomas
          Landry
          Funchess/Dez

With Julio/Keenan at WR, and Gurley/Kamara at RB. Who would you start at the Flex in a standard league: Tyreek Hill or Dion Lewis?

    1. hill is the upside play. i’d probably use him as your lineup is pretty high-floor otherwise

  11. 10 team .5 ppr Have Kareem Hunt, Ajayi, McKinnon, Darkwa, Alex Collins, Devonta Freeman and Danny Woodhead. Can only keep 6, Only worried about playoff weeks 15 and 16. Who would you drop?

  12. Roethlisberger or Cousins? Caveat(s): have Antonio, Thanksgiving guests are Washington fans. Thanks Trashman!

  13. PPR league. Win and Im in the playoffs thanks to RW! Who to start:

Need 2 RBs: J Howard, Hyde, T Coleman, D Woodhead, Duke Johnson
Need 1 Flex: Evan Engram, Corey Coleman, Robby Anderson, any of the above RBs.

    Thanks!

  14. 1/2 PPR Flacco or Stafford

    Woodhead or Doctson

  15. Trashman that Perine play was huge thank u a bunch.. ok I’m Just one win away from clinching a playoff berth 1/2 PPR Flacco or Stafford

    Woodhead or Doctson

    Thanks!!

  16. I’m not sure which section to go to for this, but This question is specifically for Trashman, Byron, and Alex.

I know you guys do a lot of in person scouting. Do you guys have any input on RB Brian Hill out of Wyoming? He was a 5th rounder this year by Atlanta. Cincinnati just signed him to their active roster last week from Atlanta’s PS. Trying to look agreed for my dynasty league, and he just screams future star to me. I’m hoping to get your guys input, if you have any
