Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 9

Trashman HeaderTrashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going into Week 9

No fat in this one, as I’m busting moves to make a flight. Here’s the fallout going into week 9 folks.. Go Astros!

rosterwatch-pro-testimonials

Vikings vs Browns

  • Latavius Murray got 19 carries and was only able to amass 39 yards. Unless he breaks one or two carries off, he’s not going to do much for you in fantasy.

  • Stefon Diggs was pretty quiet on Sunday with only 27 yards on 6 targets, but he came out healthy. He’ll get the bye to rest and, and Teddy Bridgewater stands a good chance of returning after that. Diggs is someone to target in trade.

  • Isaiah Crowell only got 11 carries, but the Browns have had the better judgement to get him involved in the passing game since their WRs are trash. Hopefully, this jump starts his second half.

49ers vs Eagles

  • Matt Breida out touched Carlos Hyde on Sunday 12 to 6, but it’s hard to say whether that was planned or if he got the action on account of the 49ers being down by so much. In any case, he needs to be owned by Hyde owners.

  • Nelson Agholor caught everything thrown his way on Sunday, but he only had 3 targets. He’ll bounce back, but it’s unlikely to happen in week 9 against the Broncos.

Bears vs Saints

  • Tarik Cohen was saved by a TD on Sunday, as he only had 4 carries and 1 catch on the day. He’s been trending in a negative direction, so it might be shrewd to move him after this performance.

  • Tre McBride had a nice 93 yard game, albeit on only 3 receptions. No Bears WR is worth owning with Mitch Trubisky playing like a true rookie though.

  • Zach Miller‘s season, and possibly career, is over. He’s too busy fighting for his leg to worry about all that right now though. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him.

Chargers vs Patriots

  • Keenan Allen has been pedestrian at best over the past games, and things won’t get better for at least 3 weeks. His playoff schedule is ideal though, so he’s someone to target if you’re already riding high in your league.

  • Travis Benjamin led the Chargers in targets with 9 in this one, but he’s yet to have more than 5 receptions in a game. There are too many mouths and too little arm left from Philip Rivers to depend on him from week to week. That being said, he’ll make a for a decent desperation flex any week of the season due to his big play ability.

  • A lot of throws were made by the Patriots on Sunday, but they were spread out all over the place with 6 players getting 6 or more targets. James White, Rob Gronkowski, and Chris Hogan seem like the most stable bunch of the lot.

Colts vs Bengals

  • Jack Doyle had the game of his life on Sunday with 121 yards and a TD on 12 catches. He’s had at least 7 targets over his last 4 games, so though I don’t think he’ll have another game like this, he’s in the TE1 conversation until further notice.

  • I was overly optimistic on John Ross in his first game back since week 2. Still, there aren’t any WRs in Cincinnati aside from A.J. Green doing enough to keep him from ascending in the offense.

  • Mixon had a good day in the passing game, but his 1.6 YPC is disconcerting with the Jaguars coming up. He stayed in the game after a fumble, so I think his job is still safe.

Falcons vs Jets

  • Devonta Freeman has just 12 carries in each of his last 2 games and just 9 in the one before it. He was out touched by Tevin Coleman on Sunday, but I don’t think he’s lost his job. The Falcons would be smart to get back to the run, as they’ve had little success getting away from it.

  • Mohamed Sanu is a favorite of Falcons OC Steve Sarkisian as evidenced by his leading the team in targets(7) against the Jets. He’s not going to have any monsters, but his floor should stay high enough to start him on a weekly basis.

  • Jermaine Kearse is a safer play for the most part, but Robby Anderson has higher upside and can do work on high caliber corners like Desmond Trufant on Sunday. Both should be owned.

  • Bilal Powell and Matt Forte played the same number of snaps(29), but Powell out carried Forte 14 to 4. Forte, on the other hand, saw 7 targets to Powell’s 3. Both are usable in plus matchups, unlike the one they’ll have against the Bills this week.

Panthers vs Buccaneers

  • Christian McCaffrey continues to underwhelm with 2.38 YPC and just 2 TD receptions on the season. He just doesn’t pop in the NFL like he did in college. He’s still a flex option, but his upside is proving to be surprisingly low.

  • The targets were there for the Panthers – McCaffrey, Benjamin and Funchess all had 6+ looks, but Cam Newton wasn’t clicking on Sunday. He should be able to turn things around at home against Atlanta this week.

  • Jameis Winston is making it hard to depend on Bucs pass catchers on a weekly basis, particularly DeSean Jackson – who depends on the big play to make bank. Jackson is a volatile WR 3 against the now formidable Saints secondary.

  • I knew the Week 7 O.J. Howard breakout was tenuous. Brate is still the guy, and Howard is a dart throw at best right now.

Raiders vs Bills

  • DeAndre Washington had a nice showing on Sunday with 88 all-purpose yards and a TD, outplaying Jalen Richard. You can hold onto him, but Marshawn Lynch is set to return this week, rendering neither backup a safe play against the Dolphins.

  • Blame the ineffectiveness of Raiders pass catchers on Derek Carr‘s short pass approach to facing the stout Bills secondary on Sunday. They’ll all have better showings against Miami this week.

  • LeSean McCoy‘s success in the running and passing game is great for his owners, but he’s taken the onus off of Tyrod Taylor to generate offense using anyone else. He only threw for 165 yards in a convincing win against the Raiders. At 29, I don’t know that LeSean McCoy can handle 30+ touches on a weekly basis. His owners should enjoy the run, but they should seriously consider picking up Mike Tolbert as insurance – that sounds crazy I know.

  • You can’t depend on any one Bills WR from week to week, but it looks like a light is finally starting to go off for rookie Zay Jones. He’s still a hold in dynasty formats.

Texans vs Seahawks

  • I was wrong to doubt Deshaun Watson, starting Philip Rivers in his place in what should have been a cake walk. I’ll never do it again. If Watson can do it against the Seahawks, in Seattle no less, he can do it against anybody. He’s matchup proof, and maybe there’s some truth to the Michael Jordan comparison his former college coach Dabo Sweeney made. I’ve never seen such a young player come in a command the position like Watson.

  • I also doubted Will Fuller‘s consistency in the Houston offense, as he has been depending almost exclusively on TDs for his production. I think both he and DeAndre Hopkins can be WR 1s with Watson’s arm.

  • The Seahawks seem like the kind of team that plays up or down to their competition, depending on the matchup. Fortunately, they have the Redskins and Falcons in 2 of their next 3 contests. Russell Wilson is a must start.

  • Neither Thomas Rawls nor Eddie Lacy could get anything going in this one. Rawls did out-snap Lacy 41 to 12 though, if that’s any indication of who has the leg up.

  • Tyler Lockett is starting to heat up and will be a great start against the Redskins this week, as Josh Norman tends to either Doug Baldwin or Paul RIchardson on the outside.

Cowboys vs Redskins

  • By the time you read this, there may or may not be an active suspension for Ezekiel Elliott. In the case that there is, it’s unlikely you can still get Darren McFadden or Alfred Morris in your league, but Cole Beasley may still be around. I expect Dak Prescott to use the short passing game like the run to help mitigate the loss of Elliott, if he should have to sit.

Steelers vs Colts

  • I’ve been telling you to pick up JuJu Smith-Schuster for weeks now, and he showed us why on Sunday night. Martavis Bryant is old news in Pittsburgh, and JuJu is the  shiny new toy. He’s a WR 3 with major upside in that offense.

  • Expect high floors and six-foot ceilings on the Lions pass catchers. The big day for Marvin Jones was endearing though, especially against a tough Steelers secondary. He should be a strong start versus the Packers this week.

  • Golden Tate played through injury and came out no worse for the wear. Play him as usual this week.

  1. First world problem here. I currently own Watson AND Wilson. Might be looking to trade while the dung is hot. Who would you prefer starting for the rest of the season. Watson or Wilson?

    1. I would worry more about who can get you more on the trade market. Happy swindling.

    2. Post By mikey2430@yahoo.com

      Who do you trust more?

      or

Who can you get the most for?

      1. I think Watson can go for the most right now. They both are going to be top 5-6 going forward.

        1. Post By mikey2430@yahoo.com

          I agree. ^^^^

  2. Should I do either one of these trades in 1PPR (my other Wrs are Antonio Brown, Dez, and Doctson):

    Michael Thomas for Diggs

Thomas and Mixon/Peterson for Melvin Gordon?

    1. i don’t think so

  3. Post By Dsummitt15@sbcglobal.net

Traded juju for corey davis straight up this week. Was that a huge mistake?

    1. JuJu just had his best game. He will be good going forward but Davis has the chance to be a must start once he gets back into the lineup.

  4. Post By mikey2430@yahoo.com

Current WR’s on my team are D. Baldwin, Ty Hill, and P. Garcon. Up and down play is killing me. Had someone offer me Michael Thomas for T. Hill (full point PPR). Yay or nay?

I also have Corey Davis sitting on the bench (after dropping J. Crowder right before he went off lol).

    1. Thomas is a lot more consistent week to week. I made a similar trade last week.

  5. Hey guys question for you, with ertz off week 10 should I pickup Charles Clay off waivers for that week? Think he’ll be back then? Thanks for all you do 1 st in my league although I benched Watson last week. Who knew?

    1. he could still be very questionable by then. i would look elsewhere

  6. He will be close to returning at that point. Last I saw he was making progress and he is most likely out on the short week this week. He is considered week to week.

    1 point PPR –

Christian McCaffrey, Doug Martin or Tevin Coleman?

  8. Where do you see Danny Woodhead’s production for a .5 PPR when he returns?

  9. Post By sally_espejo@sbcglobal.net

Hey guys have a problem. With ajayi trade i have rb issue. I have Hunt, Ajayi and Abdullah at RB in a PPR with Hunt and Ajayi on by week 10. Should I pick up morris off waivers for week 10 or go a different direction?

    1. you should def get morris if you can

  10. If I traded Carlos Hyde and Brandon Cooks for Mckinnon and Sanu, Did I screw myself on that deal? I mainly did it to get a good RB2 this week and just realized Mckinnon is on bye week. Sanu should do well as the Falcons have the easiest schedule moving forward and Cooks was just so mediocre every week that I’d rather play Robby Anderson or Ted Ginn instead of him because of them both getting 20+ points almost every week for the past 3 weeks.

    1. i’m afraid so. mckinnon still has to compete with murray and sanu has a limited ceiling as a possession wr.

  11. 12 team ppr, I’m 6-2. I have Hunt, Gurley, Mixon and L Miller. Should I trade Miller for Zeke for playoffs? We start 2 RBs n flex.

    1. i think that’s a good move if you’re not playing miller

  12. PPR, have CJ Anderson as my rb2, Melvin Gordon on a bye and need a rb this week. Offered Davonte Freeman for Keenan Allen or can get Andre Ellington for Matt Stafford? Ellington is a short term band aid. Freeman would replace Anderson long term. Any suggestions?

  13. i would do the freeman trade

  14. Post By dyanks13@aol.com

Is Garcon’s value boosted from the QB trade? I know he isn’t supposed to play this week, but should I try and get him? If so would an RB2 be good value?

    1. Post By dyanks13@aol.com

He = Garoppolo* isn’t supposed to play this week

    2. Post By dyanks13@aol.com

Wow, and him is Garcon. Don’t type while not paying attention. Is Garcon worth an RB2?

  15. Post By smcnaghten@yahoo.com

Should I trade E. Sanders for K. Benjamin? As you should know Benjamin’s a Bill now

    1. Post By smcnaghten@yahoo.com

I should note that I lost Aaron Rodgers, picked up Carson Palmer and lost him and now stuck with Tyrod Taylor. Perhaps a stack effect?

You all helped me win my league last year and have great advice. Injury bug has got me this year in not only having a losing record but losing : A. Rodgers, D. Cook, T. Eifert, K. White all while NE’s Defense, W. Snead, J. Thomas, M. Bennett have been duds. Obviously, all dropped by now.

    2. With Denver’s terrible o-line and the QB position being an absolute dumpster fire I would.

  16. 12 Team 0.5 PPR; 2 RB, 3 WR, Flex.

My RB: Kareem Hunt, C.J. Anderson, Joe Mixon.
My WR: Michael Thomas, Mike Evans, Paul Richardson, (Robert Woods, Corey Davis, Willie Snead, Tyrell Williams).

I’m being offered Stefon Diggs and Carlos Hyde for Mike Evans. Take it?

    1. It’s fair but I’d rather keep Evans. On the flip side it would give you better RB depth.

      1. Thanks for the response!

  17. Should I accept this trade?
I give up Kennan Allen for Jordy Nelson.
I have Aghlor, Fuller, Davis, JuJu, Westbrook.

    1. .5 PPR

    2. Dude’s trying to dump Jordy on you and Allen as the Trashman said has a nice playoff schedule. I wouldn’t do it.

  18. Post By rpc4567@verizon.net

What do you think, standard league I get Davante Adams give up Corey Davis? Thanks.

    1. I’d keep Davis. Without Rodgers, the GB WRs are meh.

So I completed a trade that landed me Michael Thomas in exchange for Pierre Garcon.

The trade was put in, went through the 2 day veto process, and finalized this morning, before Garcon was announced out for the season. Since the trade was completed before his IR designation was announced, I’m not wrong for keeping Thomas am I?

Never been in this situation before….
