Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 8
The Grab is not as gnarly as usual, but i couldn’t ignore the plethora of good players sitting un-owned in fantasy leagues. I have confidence in every pick, save maybe Escobar, to pay off this week. The running backs are especially useful in PPR leagues.
Allen Robinson WR, Jaguars: Robinson is well known to RosterWatch nation, but he’s still owned in only 22% of leagues, and that’s no good for perhaps the best all around young receiver on the team. He’ll be a target hound this week against Miami..
Coby Fleener TE, Colts: Fleener is definitely the lesser of the two starting TEs in Indy, but that goes a long way on a team that spreads the ball around and is short Reggie Wayne this week. He’s a nice play because he’s not TD dependent like so many TEs.
Donte Moncrief WR, Colts: Another player who’s going to benefit from Wayne’s absence, Moncrief was one of my favorite WR rookies pre-draft. It looks like he’s got a good chance to start opposite T.Y. Hilton tomorrow, and I love any young field stretching receiver attached to Andrew Luck’s golden arm. He’s a reach but he could pay off big time.
Travaris Cadet RB, Saints: In a game versus the Packers that is sure to be a high flying affair, Cadet is filling in as the pass catching back now that Pierre Thomas is sitting this week. He’s a solid start in PPR leagues, and a fair one in standard leagues.
Theo Riddick RB, Lions: Riddick is in a similar position to Cadet this week, as Reggie Bush is doubtful this week. Riddick has done admirable work in relief of Bush in the past, and it doesn’t hurt that Detroit is playing Atlanta this week. They’ve got the worst run defense in the league.
Martavis Bryant WR, Steelers: Another one of our pre-draft favorites, Bryant is a rangy, deep threat who we’ve been salivating over in hopes that he would get his chance to feast in Pittsburgh. It looks like his time is on hand with second year WR Markus Wheaton floundering as the no.2 for the Steelers. He’s got a tough matchup against the Colts’ top ranked pass defense, but I see him getting several long shots in a high scoring game.
Teddy Bridgewater QB, Vikings: Teddy has struggled mightily since his first full game, but he has matchup on his side this week in a tasty matchup with the Buccaneers who are the league’s worst against opposing QBs. It looks like he’s finally starting to click with his receivers, and he’s got some relief in the run game. This will be his best matchup all year.
Davante Adams WR, Packers: Adams is still only owned in 13% of leagues, and that’s crazy to me. He’s basically the new James Jones in Green Bay, and he needs to be owned and started until he flounders. He’s got a fantastic matchup against New Orleans this week.
Gavin Escobar TE, Cowboys: Escobar has evolved into a formidable red zone option for Tony Romo, scoring three TDs in two weeks. If Dallas does struggle against the run, as
