Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 8

Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 8

The injuries keep piling up, but there’s always an answer when you’re a trashman! Here’s the grab for Week 8!

Runningback

La’Mical Perine, Jets

Perine could get a workhorse role on Sunday, should Frank Gore not end up playing after not practicing until a limited session on Friday. Perine doesn’t look like a special player, but he’s starting to get a lot of run in an offense that has nothing to lose by giving him ample snaps. He’s worth a flex against a KC team that is easier to run on than pass.

Malcolm Brown, Rams

Brown isn’t touching the ball quite as much as Darrell Henderson is, but he reached double-digit touches last week, and he scored. If you’re desperate at RB, there are worse flexes than Brown this week against Miami.

Gus Edwards, Ravens

Mark Ingram is doubtful this week, and the Ravens don’t trust J.K. Dobbins yet, so Gus Edwards is in line to get the bulk of carries against the Steelers this week. Pittsburgh has given up the fewest points to RBs this season, but it’s hard not to sit a starting RB on one of the league’s most capable running offenses.

Wide Receiver

Scotty Miller, Buccaneers

Chris Godwin is out with a broken finger and Antonio Brown doesn’t get on the field for the Bucs until Week 9, so Miller has at least one more week to play world beater for Tampa Bay. He shouldn’t have any trouble getting open against the Giants this week.

Tre’Quan Smith, Saints

Michael Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and UDFA turned interim WR1 Marquez Callaway are both out this week, leaving Smith, Jared Cook and a few no names to soak up targets in their absence. The Saints play Chicago, so there are no guarantees, but Smith should see enough targets to warrant a fantasy start in most formats.

Jalen Reagor, Eagles

Reagor is finally back after missing the last 5 games with a thumb injury, and the only thing standing in his way to fantasy dominance is one Travis Fulgham. Reagor is an immense talent though, so I’m not worried about his ability to get open against a sieve-like Cowboys secondary this week. Play ‘em if you got ‘em.

Darnell Mooney

Mooney is coming off of a 7 target Week 7, and he could see more than that this week, as the Saints will probably implement shutdown corner Marshon Lattimore on Allen Robinson for most of the game. Mooney makes for a pretty safe PPR play this week.

Tight End

Trey Burton

Burton scored twice last week as the now lead receiving TE for the Colts. The Lions cover TEs really well, but we’re just depending on Burton to make the all-important end-zone catches this week.

Harrison Bryant, Browns

Bryant is the new no.1 TE in Cleveland as long as Austin Hooper is out with appendicitis. The Browns seem to hate David NJoku, and he’s actually requested a trade. With Odell Beckham out for the count, expect Baker Mayfield to lean on the short passing game, of which Bryant will be a major part.

Quarterback

Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers

Garoppolo has yet to throw 300 yards this season, but he gets a mouthwatering matchup this week in the Seattle Seahawks, who are the 2nd best matchup for QBs going into Week 8. Jimmy G will be without Deebo Samuel, but Brandon Aiyuk is stepping up in his absence. If there’s a week to start Garoppolo, it’s this one.

  1. Hi Trashman,

I have Ebron and Goedert. I was thinking of playing Goedert and dropping Ebron for Jalen Reagor. Does that seem like a good idea? I’m nervous about playing Goedert first game after IR but I assume if he’s active he’s gold.

    Thanks.

    Best Wishes,

    Mike

If you can afford a “show me” game from Dallas G that is ideal, but the upside is there. Its a worthy gamble to play Goedert, but know the floor is low. I like dropping Ebron for Reagor too.

      1. Alan, Thank you!!
        Good luck today!!
        Best Wishes
        Mike

  2. Trashmaaaannnn….Gus Edwards over dobbins in ppr? For sure?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Gus was the primary runner when Ingram left the game 2 weeks ago. Dobbins has that 1 big play ability so the upside is there, but Edwards has the better projectable floor IMO.

  3. Not sure if the rankings provided consider Goedert playing when it comes to Rogers. You comfortable there or looking to Gesicki, Bryant, Burton, Schultz, Sample, Irv Smith as next possible options Or an Albert-O play.

Lastly if you don’t mind – how much trust in Allen Robinson this week? Would have to drop shenault to find an alternate play… possibly a T. Smith, Bourne Lazard or MVS?

7-0 vs 7-0 so any ideas would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

I’m with you that if Dallas Goedert plays Rodgers value takes a hit. All of those TEs are interesting but nothing grnt’d. Mike G with Tua at QB is the option that sticks out as. best floor best upside. Good luck!

    Full ppr need2 of 3..
    Fant
    Tre quin Smith
    Joshua Kelley

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

They all have similar risk but I’d sit Fant. A Denver beat reporter said earlier this week that Fant still didn’t look 100% in practice. Of course, Fant could have a solid day but if it were my team I would want to see it from him first. Tre Smith in a great spot to at least get 7 targets (fingers crossed)

What’s good? Shepard or R Rodgers in my Flex PPR. Thx

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I would have said Rodgers but news broke of Goedert playing is concerning for Rodgers outlook tonight. I’d go Sheppard, but its razor close.

  6. RWN – need a couple here:
    1) am I crazy to think about Burrow over Lamar?

    2) Aiyuk over Gaskin as a flex in .5 ppr?

    3) fournette or sterling shep as flex in full ppr?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Not crazy bc of the matchups, but Lamar has historically shoed up for Pit. I’d still start him, but your gut is not off. Burrow could end up the better play.

Aiyuk v Gaskin is the classic floor vs ceiling. I like the balls to play Aiyuk.

Fournette over SS for me. He now has a cemented role as the pass catcher in Tampa. (we think)

  7. Would you trade ju ju for Leonard fornette?
My backs are A Jones, Gurly, Josh Adams, Chase Edmonds and Mattison. WR’s are Ju Ju, Justin Jefferson, Cooks and Corey Dillion. Thank you!

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Yes, I would trade FOR Fournette. He looks like he could easily become Brady’s “James White” pass-catcher back. You will be thin at WR, but you are getting the better player (for fantasy). JJSS will have some pop weeks, but how can we trust him week to week?

  8. Std league non ppr

    D Byrd or Marcus Johnson?
    Bernard or Gaskins?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I love garbage-type players start/sits like this. I like Marcus Johnson as a what the hell kind of play this week with upside. The market seems to like Byrd.

Bernard would be my pref here, but with Tua in at QB there is a fair amount of upside with Gaskin.

  9. Also, would you just go with Alexander Mattison or swing with Gus Edwards? Would have to drop trey button to pick up Edwards.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I like Edwards much better than AMat…Dalvin is back.

  10. Ppr flex:

    James white, reagor, mims, berrios

    1. mims for me, but I’m a huge homer lol, GL.

  11. Post By Max Bet Free Games

Standard scoring: Allen Robinson or Fournette? I saw the trashman flex ranks but wind and the dropping O/U has me spooked on a Sunday morning

    1. I still have to play A Rob

  12. Post By mrbazzball@aol.com

Standard scoring.. Kupp or Aiyuk… Thnx

  13. We have them projected .3 apart in STD with Kupp having the slight edge, but if it were my team, I’d get sick and roll Aiyuk. It’s truly a toss up so play who ya want. Fading me might be the smart option 😉

  14. 1RB 2WR 1 Flex PPR
    Conner, Williams, Bell
Adamas, AJ Brown, M. Brown, Metcalf, Goedert

    Thank you in advance

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

      Connor is auto start

      Adams and DK

      AJB as the flex

  15. 3 flex spots: Lamb, Reagor, Parker, Claypool, Moss, Goedert. Coleman and Hasty are on the wire as well.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

start Claypool, Goedert and Lamb. No floor on any of them. But still like the upside.

  16. Need to sit 1 BMW,lamb, s.miller, Juju or R.higgins

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

All nice options. Lamb still getting the targets but has the most risk with Ben Denuchi in there

  17. PPR league. JAllen or Tannehill this week?
Also, anyone in this article you would play over Engram at TE, Marvin Jones Jr at WR, or N Hines at RB?

    Thanks

    1. Tanny and yes I like options trashman has laid out better than a few of those guys.

    2. I’d probably hold with engram, but I’d probably play any of these wr or rb over those guys

  18. Need one of the following in a 6pt passing TD league: Tom Brady, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson?

  19. Need 1 Flex for 0.5 ppr

    Reagor, Josh Kelley, Ruggs?

    Thx!

    1. with the wind in CLE, I take a YOLO stab on Reagor going against his home team .

      1. Wheels up for Raegor!!!

  20. Zach moss or jk dobbins? Ppr

  21. Josh Allen or Burrow? Afraid of crazy wind in Buf

Pick 2- PPR: Jefferson, ARob, Aiyuk

    1. Go Burrow – as for the others, we have all three back to back. If you’re worried about the wind, go A Rob Aiyuk.

  22. Need 2 of 3 Flex in PPR- Treyquan Smith Rashard Higgins or Hockenson

    1. I trust Trashman’s flex rankings for trashy coss-positional decisions like this.

      1. I guess I was concerned that the rankings don’t factor in the wind situations

  23. Do I flex swift or bell. I need this win bad. Please advise

    1. swift projects slightly better for us but agreed that is super tough. GL. with whatever you do. It’s hard to sit Bell versus a player like Swift in such a revenge game.

  24. I need two…

    1 point ppr

    Keenan Allen
    DK Metcalf
    AJ Brown

Let it be known I stupidly played DJ Moore on Thursday….

  25. Two separate RB3 conundrums.

    1) Coleman or Dobbins?

    2) Hasty or Murray?

  26. PPR. Tee Higgins or Gaskin in flex?

    Thanks

  27. Flex
    Fournette , g. Edward , s. Miller , d. Mims
    Need one

  28. Please pick 2 in PPR
JJ Smith Shuster Fournette CDLamb in PPR

  29. Post By Kenneth Bone's Mustache

    Trashman,

    Darren Waller or Jonnu Smith?

  30. Team name: Obi Won Iwobi 4-3
    1pt ppr
    Flex.
    Swift
    Golladay
    Evans?

  31. I am trying to decide between Hasty and Moss — with Coleman back I am leaning to Moss, who has been trending in the right direction the past couple of weeks. Good choice? thanks

  32. I need your insight for my Flex Spot:
    *Justin Jefferson
    *Marquise Brown
*Le’Veon Bell vs Jets (I do have CEH in my RB spot)

  33. Standard league, please pick one:
    Scotty Miller
    Darren Waller
    Ruggs
    Trequan smith
    Cole Beasley

I need upside to catch up from Thursday

  34. Post By woo.jonathanwoo

You think Scotty Miller is a “sharp” play over ARob? .5 PPR. I’m intrigued by Miller’s PPR floor and the matchup.

  35. Would you trade Gibson for CDH in a 1/2 ppr?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I answered this in the other thread go check it out. Its an interesting trade for sure.

  36. Post By nicholsm430@comcast.net

What impact do you think Antonio Brown’s signing will have on Chris Godwin in particular as I was offered Michael Thomas for Chris Godwin in a full point PPR Dynasty League. Thanks

  37. Post By nicholsm430@comcast.net

Secondly, I forgot would you trade Kareem Hunt for Antonio Gibson in a full point PPR Dynasty League? Thanks

Do you only answer questions on the weekend as I have 2 questions that I had posted on Monday that as far as I can see have not been replied to? Don’t actually need the reply now as the situation has changed. Thanks
