Week RosterWatch WR Touchdown Dependency Tool
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com
Death, taxes, and a 28 percent Touchdown Dependency Ratio for fantasy wide receivers.
Ratios close to average represent the qualities we are looking for in our fantasy players. A combination of upside and reliability. Players with very high ratios are susceptible to future inconsistency and/or declining production. Players with really low averages, either have massively underperformed or they have extremely limited upside.
As guys like Arian Foster and Adrian Peterson have been exceptions to the running back tool in the past, we can probably chalk the same up for Calvin Johnson and AJ Green here. These guys will produce one way or another in the long run, touchdowns or not. Interestingly, it was the opposite for Calvin to begin last season. Not a horrible problem for his owners this year.
Other takeaways –
Julio is a weekly thoroughbred with Roddy sidelined. We like him all season, but it could be worth seeing what you can sell him for with his value at an all time maximum and Roddy on the mend. So, James Jones is a 9 PPG guy when he’s not going bananas in the endzone- not bad. Larry Fitzgerald’s profile isn’t necessarily changing a ton from last year, so far- scary. People who drafted DeAndre Hopkins are feeling pretty good. Same old song and dance with Andre Johnson– he just doesn’t score touchdowns- he never has. Poor Hakeem Nicks owners, it’s just not getting any better. Dwayne Bowe is not a Top 50 WR through the first three weeks of the season.
