Zero Dollar Bidding: Waiver Wire Look Ahead Week 7

Zero Dollar Bidding: Waiver Wire Look Ahead Week 7
by Alan Seslowsky

Each week this column will provide you with sneaky zero dollar pickups you can add to your roster today, that may be of great value down the road. The idea is to identify players that have a plausible path to be the high-priced free agent in the coming weeks. The bottom of your fantasy roster should always be used to cycle through high upside pickups that can easily be cut to speculate on another player.

Jeff Wilson (RB San Francisco, 5% rostered)

This is Jeff Wilson’s second appearance in this column. We identified him before his big two-TD game back in week three. Hopefully, you were able to scoop him for a zero dollar bid at that time. Wilson was always meant to be a short-term fill-in, then dropped to speculate on the next player. In week 6 lead RB Raheem Mostert was injured and subsequently put on the IR. He will be out for at least the next three weeks. Most teams in your league are going to make all efforts to roster JaMycal Hasty, who was involved when Mostert left the game. Let’s not forget it was Jeff Wilson who was the lead runner last time Mostert went down. Wilson was not active last week due to a calf injury. If he is practicing this week, it is plausible he is the lead RB for the team. You should absolutely try to get Hasty, but if you can’t, Wilson will likely be available for a zero dollar bid. If news breaks against Wilson for injury or if the team proclaims Hasty is the starter, Wilson can easily be cut.

Gus Edwards (RB Baltimore, 3% rostered)

Edwards has also appeared in this column before. When we recommended Gus Edwards as a zero bid player, he was nothing more than a blind-folded dart throw. He has become more interesting after week 6. Mark Ingram was dinged up, and Edwards (14 rushes) became the lead runner, not JK Dobbins (9 rushes.) Baltimore is heading into a bye week. Your leaguemates are unlikely to bid on Gus Edwards. If you have a spot on your roster, Gus Edwards could come out of the bye as the starting running back on the Ravens. Holding a player through the bye is always tough, but the upside is there, making Gus Edwards an interesting zero dollar bid.

Albert Okwuegbunam (TE Denver Broncos 0% rostered)

To be clear, we would prefer to roster players like Darren Fells, Irv Smith, and of course Dallas Goedert if he was dropped. Those players are likely to have more impact value on your team. However, the TE market has been extremely tough to navigate, as so many TEs have disappointed for fantasy. Albert “O” was QB Drew Lock‘s college teammate at Missouri and one of his favorite redzone targets. That was on display in week 6. Albert O tied for the team lead in targets with six and saw a handful of those in the redzone. Should Noah Fant sit another week, Albert O is likely to get another shot at fantasy-relevant playing time. He makes for an interesting zero dollar bid in a depleted TE market.

  1. Should I pick up and play Wentz tonight? My current qb is Andy Dalton. Or do you think there is someone else I should grab this week like minshew, or Bridgewater?
Second question is should I pick up Tim Patrick this week and sit juju? Ppr. Or my other option would be to play shenault
3rd question : should I play jonu Smith, Dalton Schultz, or sample this week?

Wentz has been getting enough rush yards to warrant a play tonight. I’m doing the same for my team.

D Ron, I am struggling with the Tim P. vs JJSS issue. Right now I have TP in my lineup. The consensus rankings tell us to play JJSS. I’ may go against the grain with my team.

If he is healthy and playing Smith is the one. DS takes a bit of a hit with Dalton

      Good luck!

Sitting at 5-1 in a 12 team full point PPR. Any areas of this team I should look to improve by trading or stay put and work the waiver wire?

    QB: Josh Allen
    RB: Kamara
    RB: Ronald Jones
    RB/WR: CeeDee Lamb
    WR: Tyreek Hill
    WR: DJ Moore
TE: Jonnu Smith (or Robert Tonyan)
    Flex: Travis Fulgram

Bench: Cam Akers, Chase Edmonds, Jamaal Williams, LaMichael Perine, Marvin Jones, Tim Patrick

    Thanks!

Hold your course. Marvin Jones can be dropped. He will have a 3 TD game at some point but good luck trying to identify that game. Use this column and to add a player with massive upsdie like Gus Edwards. If Edwards is not starting out of the bye, drop his ass and pick up another. Do not keep low upside players like MJ on your roster .

      Good luck brother!

        Awesome thanks!!

  3. Was offered a trade: I would be getting jonathan Taylor for Golladay.

My WR are Cooper, Thomas, DJ Moore, Hardman.

My RB are Josh Jacobs, Robinson, freeman, bell, edmonds, akers. 12 team standard scoring.

    Should I do it?

I like Taylor over KG. But it looks like you need the WR more than the RB. It is a reasonable trade.

  4. I am considering starting Tim Patrick over JuJu, am I nuts? Would you?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I have answered this exact question for a few people. I have same question. I posted a short video about it on my twitter too. The ranking mostly have JJSS over TP. In my league I am starting TP. I don’t know ifit will work out, but I’m doing it.

Let me know what you do, I’ll be routing for you (if you strat TP)

  5. Thank you for the feedback! Sorry o didn’t realize you had already answered. I am going to start Patrick over JuJu in both my leagues Gotta go with the gut sometimes.

I’ll be rooting for ya brother!

  6. Leaning towards Herbert over Tannehill. Thoughts?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Given the matchup, I’m with ya. Hard to go away from RT, he has been on fire, but I love your thought process here.

Team name: Fresh Prince of Helaire

    10 team 1/2 pt ppr
I’m thinking about proposing a trade with last place team that has Kamara and could use more depth. My starting proposal would be CEH and Mike Evans for Kamara. Let me how what you think and I’ll list rest of my roster in case I should make a different proposal

RB: Carson, CEH, Gurley, Gaskin, Kelley, Dobbins, Boston Scott

WR: Metcalf, Slayton, Evans, Higgins, Feltham

There are several good WR on waivers still since we have short benches. Let me know what you think

    1. Post By trent.weeks2010@gmail.com

      Fulgham not Feltham

I liek that consolidation trade. Perfect time to exit CEH for Alvin. Get it done baby!

  8. Morning gentlemen, 10 team PPR with a 3-3 record. I have a few issues I need help with. I have Kyler at QB, DJ, Mixon, Monty, Edmonds, Fournette and Gaskins at RB and DHop, Ridley, Boyd, Chark, Moore and Deebo at WR. First, would you drop Chark or Moore for MWilliams. With Kyler going on bye next week, I want to pickup a QB for next week now before i get blocked on the waiver wire. Pickup Teddy or Ryan T. and drop Edmonds or Founette. What do you think.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Chark and DJM have a better target floor, but I hear you they have not been producing. It is risking to make that add/drop, but it makes sense if you think Mike Williams can keep it up. Bold move.

QB question: I’d pickup RT, he has that rushing ability that gives him a nice floor. He has been on fire.

  9. Wentz or Burrow?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Did you end up playing Wentz?
