RosterWatch Week 7 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2020 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Packers RB Aaron Jones, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Packers (Jones’ team). You will see that the Packers’ opponent (OPP) is the Texans in Week 7, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Texans’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the PACKERS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the TEXANS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Texans, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Jones faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 7 (the Texans). This is a great indicator for owners Jones and backfield-mate Jamaal Williams, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

WHITE: Neutral Matchups

    2. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Great trade for you. I’d advise accepting

  2. 12 team, 0.5 PPR, 4-2

    QB: Mahomes
RBs: Kamara, RoJo, Gibson, Swift, Dobbins, Fournette
    WRs: Hopkins, Laviska, Hollywood
    TEs: Tonyan, Goedert (IR)

Being offered OBJ for RoJo. I’m only thinking about doing it considering my WR situation. What do y’all think?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Its a fair offer. ODB has not produced outside of that one big week. ROJO seems to be the lead RB, but LF is coming back soon. Practice reports are positive this week. Given your team you could do it, but confidence in ODB should be adjusted to a high-end WR3 with upsdie.

  3. Alex, Byron, or Trashman –

Need some dynasty advice help as I’m fighting amongst for a 6th playoff vs. three other teams in the bottom of standings. I’m 1-5 while the other teams are 2-4 but one of those teams just offered me the following deal so I need help making a counter offer.

He offered me Singletary, Ozigbo, and Herndon for my H. Henry, White, and 3.01 pick which obviously I rejected but do you see a counter worth making? I traded away guys like Julio, Woods, and Da. Johnson this past offseason to get younger and my team is now averaging around 130pts a week so what do I need to make a run?

    10 team Dynasty PPR
    (6pt passing TD, -2 INT)
    1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 (WR/RB/TE) 1 TE

    QB: Tannehill, Mayfield, Rivers, Winston

TE: H. Henry, Sample, Shultz, Trautman, K. Rudolph

Matchup tool link is broken for me.

    10-team, .5 PPR, in a must-win at 1-5. 2 RB, 2 WR, Flex.

I’ve got Antonio Gibson starting vs. Dallas right now, and I’m toying with the idea of putting McKissic into the flex. Talk me out of it.

    Other candidates are:
    DJ Moore @ NO
    Melvin Gordon v KC
    Deebo @ NE
    Josh Kelley v JAX
    McKinnon @ NE

I’ve got Kenyan Drake (v SEA), but I’m trying to move him before Sunday. If I can’t get him moved, is Drake the shoe-in for the flex?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

All of your options are very good. The appeal of JDMK is his PPr floor not his upside. You may want to pivot to DJ Moore to capture that upside.

  5. Tool not uploaded. Still showing week 6

  6. Post By Longhornfireman

In a 10 team standard league at TE I currently have Cook and Graham, am looking to wavier wire one of them, sho should I keep for this week, do you think that person is worth rolling with for awhile and Gronk is available, should I dump both of them and roll with Gronk?

    Thanks

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

In 2020 it is hard to proclaim “rest of season” on almost any player outside of the elites. So much is changing each week.

Gronk is heating up getting in sync with Brady, he is a strong play this week if you need a TE.

  7. I’m looking ahead with CMC and he’s got the week 13 bye, which is the first week of our two week matchup for first round of our playoffs. Should I start shopping him? Who do I need to get in return?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

If you want to trade him, make sure to include the recent news blurbs that a week 8 return is in the cards. I think you can recoup almost full value. players you might want to target as the base of the deal

      Derrick Henry
      James Robinson
      D’Andre Swift
      Hopkins

      Good luck!

  8. Post By timraytx@yahoo.com

Better long term backup TE…Graham or Goedert? Have Jonnu Smith but covid and ankle make me want to carry a 2nd TE for the first time in my fantasy life. Thanks in advance.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Goedert is the one with the top 3 positional upside. I’d lean to him

      1. Post By timraytx@yahoo.com

        Thank you…exactly what I’ve done!

  9. Got an open spot from miles sander IR, who to roll the dice on? Hasty, Perine, Reagor or Goedert?

    Qb— Mahomes
    RB— Kenyan drake
    RB— Boston Scott
    WR— Kupp
    WR- CeeDee Lamv
    TE— Jonnu
    Flex— Josh Kelley

Bench — Fournette, Edmonds, Miles Sanders, Damien Harris , Tee Higgins, Laviska , Deebo

    1. Or Gio with mixon not practicing?

    2. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Goedert would be the one I would speculate on.

  10. Post By John Hunsberger

Engram or Gronk .5 ppr rankings have them 1 spot difference .. who is safer to play dealing with by weeks at rb and flex

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

They are both in the same risk bucket. there is no difference in the trust level. I’d prefer Engram, but I have no argument against saying it is Gronk.

  11. Post By Longhornfireman

Should I dump Graham or Cook t pick up Gronk?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

They are all in the same bucket. Jimmy Graham is operating like a goal-line back for the team at the TE position. In a season where TE is a crap shoot each week outside of Kelce/Kittle/Waller, I’d stick with JG or Cook. Gronk coming on, but it would be hard to trust him over the other guys you already have

  12. .5 PPR and I’m pretty loaded at both RB and WR so this really comes down to a Flex play. I was offered OBJ for Swift. Who do you like more the rest of the season considering Swift has already had his bye?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Swift is the better bet moving fwd. The team used the bye week to recalibrate Swift’s role on the team. It is not out of line to rank Swift as a top 12 RB moving fwd. ODB, should be looked at as a top 30 WR with upside.

  13. Thoughts on handcuffs. I have Zeke w/ Pollard and Drake w/ Edmonds. I also have Singletary and Akers. Would you cut any of those RBs for Dobbins and/or Hasty?
    Thanks

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Though Singletary is actually getting playing time, id rather have JKD over him. Akers cant be trusted and can be cut to speculate on Hasty. Nice job keep it up

  14. Current team in 1st(How can you not be with that cheat sheet this year?), 10 team, PPR, but MDavis has been a big part of that with McCaffrey return looming

    Wilson

Davis, JRob, Carson, JT, Gibson, Scott

Davante, MThomas, Keenan, Devante, Shenault, Fulgham, Claypool

    Schultz

Trade MDavis for Hunter Henry? PPR

  15. Being offered Claypool for Hayden Hurst. I say go for it as my other TE is Jonnu.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

      120,000% yes

  16. Team Name: THE SLEEPY JOES
    Record: 0-6

Trade Question: 0.5ppr I was offered Diontae Johnson and Mike Davis for my Chris Godwin and Darrell Henderson. I desperately need to win this week obviously. My other RBs are: David Johnson, David Montgomery, Antonio Gibson, Kenyan Drake

Same League, Second trade offer: Trade away my Michael Thomas for Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley

I know my record is pathetic. I should have blown my team up faster. My first 5 picks were Michael Thomas, Kenyan Drake, Chris Godwin, David johnson and then Zach Ertz. So as cockamamie as it seems David Johnson has been the best pick of the bunch on my Skank Squad. Nobody likes to pull trades in this league especially early in the season, and the injury updates on Michael Thomas were so sketchy from the jump that it gave me false hope he would return sooner than week 7.

  17. I Have to ask…

My WR core: in PPR. I play 3 of these and could play 1 in a flex spot
Ridley, Godwin, Woods, JJSmith-Schuster, CDLamb, MWilliams

… should I take a flyer on ….Antonio Brown… and drop Mike Williams who I do not think I would ever play?

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I would not drop MW. He is the perfect fit for a QB like Herbert who throws down the field.

  18. I need a wr3 for this week and going forward. There is literally shit on the wire… I have Mattison was thinking about trading him to the Cool owner and see if I can get M Williams from him in return or should I hold off as Cooks is starting his usually injury issues??? Thoughts???

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

if you can trade AM to MW, that is a fantastic deal for you. MW goes RIGHT into your lineup

  19. Need 3/4: Godwin, Evans , tee Higgins, Christian Kirk,
2/3: D Montgomery, Antonio Gibson, James White

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

WRs: I know he came alive last week, but still benching Kirk.

RBs: Bench White: Its always a tough call to play RB roulette with the Pats backs.

      1. Awesome. Thanks!

  20. Standard league by the way

  21. Post By christopherdavidhui@gmail.com

I have a flex question – 1 pt. ppr and 0.25 pt. per carry

    Travis Fulgham (tonight)
    James White
    David Montgomery
    Poopoo Beckham
    JaMycal Hasty

    Thanks!

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Montgomery has a projectable touch floor with some TD equity.

ODB is in a good spot but how can you trust that guy?

  22. Need guidance please.
    Julio and Taylor/djohnson
Getting back k Murray and Connor.

Have Zeke Peterson Gibson , lost dak
    Receiver
I’ll have fulgham Robinson claypool fuller chark.
    Thoughts on this please. PPR

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

I like the players you already have better. Do you need a qb? is that what is driving this trade?

      1. I have dalton now. Not too many on waivers. I will sit tight based on your guidance. Thank you very much for your response.

  23. Tannehill and Hunter Henry are on waivers, and I have a good shot at getting at least one of them.
Herbert is my QB (Dalton and Newton are also available if either are a better option).
Tonyan and Ertz are my TE’s.
Who would you prioritize? (PPR and QB’s get 6pts for passing TD’s)
    Thanks!

    1. P.S. how do I add a fancy profile picture? Can’t find the option

    2. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Hunter Henry is the priority here. You need a TE with a floor. You don’t really need a QB.

      1. Ty

Trade Zeke and chark for adams, Robinson, and dobbins?
    .5 ppr 4-2 record 12 team league.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Thats a nice trade Scott. I like your fwd thinking on it.

  25. Post By Max Bet Free Games

In a rough spot this week. Standard scoring, need 2 RBs: Gibson, Gordon, Freeman, Edmonds, Fournette….ugh.

    1. Post By Alan Seslowsky

Freeman and Gibson the only 2 with grt’d roles. MG3 is a better play than Gibson in non ppr, but who knows what his role is this week?

  26. Post By jbturner89@gmail.com

Sitting at 5-1 in a 12 team full point PPR. Any areas of this team I should look to improve by trading or stay put and work the waiver wire?

    QB: Josh Allen
    RB: Kamara
    RB: Ronald Jones
    RB/WR: CeeDee Lamb
    WR: Tyreek Hill
    WR: DJ Moore
TE: Jonnu Smith (or Robert Tonyan)
    Flex: Travis Fulgram

Bench: Cam Akers, Chase Edmonds, Jamaal Williams, LaMichael Perine, Marvin Jones, Tim Patrick

    Thanks!

  27. Morning gentlemen, 10 team PPR with a 3-3 record. I have a few issues I need help with. I have Kyler at QB, DJ, Mixon, Monty, Edmonds, Fournette and Gaskins at RB and DHop, Ridley, Boyd, Chark, Moore and Deebo at WR. First, would you drop Chark or Moore for MWilliams. With Kyler going on bye next week, I want to pickup a QB for next week now before i get blocked on the waiver wire. Pickup Teddy or Ryan T. and drop Edmonds or Founette. What do you think.

  28. Should I pick up and play wents tonight? My current qb is Andy Dalton. Or do you think there is someone else I should grab this week like minshew, or Bridgewater?
Second question is should I pick up Tim Patrick this week and sit juju? Ppr

  29. Fulgham or Ceedee for last flex in PPR?

  30. Full Pt PPr

    Odell B Jr
    T. Boyd
    Juju
    B. Cooks

    Need 3. Thank you

  31. FAIR OR NO? in my league, the second place team just got away with trading Chase Claypool for Josh Jacobs with the last place team.

  32. Whats up RosterWatch,
    Appreciate y’all
?Whom is the true slot for Cinci?
(Obvi, Cle gives it up to the slot)

  33. Question at QB, Matt Ryan or Justin Herbert?

I drafted Ryan and had 2 good weeks, then 3 bad weeks, and then I benched Ryan for Dalton. Dalton is gone now after that performance but I had stashed Herbert last week as well.

    I’m leaning towards Herbert myself.
